On Tuesday we had the mother of all snow/ice storms. When all was said and done we had a total of 10 inches on our front lawn. Of course schools were closed, my fiance couldn't get to work, and there was nothing else to do but suck it up, pile on layers of warm clothes and go outside and play...and play we did.

This is Tay-Tay (she wasn't interested in sledding, all she wanted to do was eat the snow) and Nay-Nay in the background getting ready to go down our neighbor's huge hill.
Here's Nay-Nay having so much fun...she was terrified 30 seconds before this picture was taken!
My fiance wiped out a couple times and you know I couldn't contain my laughter! It was funny stuff.
And this crazy person all bundled up flying down the hill? Well that would be me! And not only was I not terrified, but I LOVED it!

So since last season (well since Jo left) Tamra has been my favorite housewife...until this season. She seems to be so jealous of Gretchen and it's so catty and bitchy and mean. I personally love Gretchen and it ticks me off every single time she does or says something mean to her....I know, but I told you before that I have no life! Someone needs to remind her that she's how old (I know she's at least 40) and that what she's doing is something that a middle school kid does when she's jealous that someone stole her boyfriend...grow up! I should so go on the BRAVO message boards and let her have it!
Second Vicki needs to get off her high horse and leave every one else the hell alone. I can't decide who she's meaner to Gretchen or Lynne...it doesn't matter she's probably equally mean to both! And someone really needs to tell her that Tamra and Gretchen and Lynne probably saved her little show because if I had to sit and watch her and Jeanna for an hour I would rather turn on Noggin and watch Yo Gabba Gabba...I'm just saying!

All that said I want to know what your favorite song is and why? Or what song do you think expresses you and your life? So come on I'm dying to see your answers!
For me it's a song by Staci Orrico (it's from a few years ago) "There's gotta be more to life" is the name of the song and it descrbies me to a tee...with of course the exception of the first line in the song...I most certainly do not think I have it all!

Let me just say that I LOVE awards...I love getting awards and I love giving them even more. So if I'm giving you this award and I've already given you an award (or three) then it's because I like your blog (and more than likely you're not too bad either...lol). So without further ado...I would like to pass these awards on to the following amazing blogs!
- Debra @ Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History
- Alexis @ Running Away? I'll Help You Pack
- Stephanie @ My STAR [and Wish]
- Lisa @ My life...or is it?
- Mama Kat @ Mama's Losin' It
- Felicia @ Go Graham Go
- Kel @ Girl in the Glasses
And in addition to this award one of my best new bloggy buddies Alexis @ Running Away? I'll Help you Pack gave me the honest scrap award...thank you Alexis!
I was outside smoking (I know how gross it is and coupled with the fact that the windchill here is like -20 it was a stupid move) anyway I was looking at the sky and I saw these lights (isn't that how it always goes when some toothless hillbilly (and I mean that in the absolute nicest way possible, because believe me I have quite a few said hillbillies in my extended family) gets on the news and describes his "close encounter". But it was really like that. Well I quickly finished my cigarette because let's face it I don't want them abducting me and hurried in the house...got back on the computer (yeah I have no idea how I thought that was going to help me if they decided to attack, but whatever) and started flipping out. Well 10 minutes later when I realized that I hadn't been abducted I decided to check it out again. So I went back outside and looked and it wasn't there...and you know why? Because it wasn't a UFO it was the moon behind the trees...and that is when I felt really stupid. Yes boys and girls it is way past my bedtime!

So my good friend Debra @ Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History gave me this that great award you see up above all my gibberish! Here are the rules...The rules for the Honest Scrap award: The honorees are to: A) first list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep! B) pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.
So Here are My 10 Honest Truths
1. I always have to wear socks...I'm weird and I even hate taking then off to get a shower!
2. I cuss...A LOT!!! The F Bomb is my curse word of choice...don't you judge me...lol.
3. I smoke way too much (cigarettes in case you thought you may have just figured out why I seemed a little nuts) I know it's bad for me and I need to stop, but they're the one bad thing I do, aside from the cursing of course.
4. I'm a trivia freak...I know more useless information than Meredith Vieira, Regis Philbin, and Alex Trebek combined.
5. I'm addicted to reality television...even the really bad shows that no one watches...well I guess I single handedly keep them on the air!
6. I collect advertising tins and I have close to a thousand of them...I'll have to post about this sometime.
7. I'm obessive compulsive when it comes to how my towels are folded, it drives me family nuts.
8. Blue is my favorite color...NC blue to be exact!
9. I so do not get football, but I love basketball.
10. I never erase the messages on my answering machine...seriously right now I have 52 old messages, this drives my fiance nuts, which is probably why I do it.
Now for the 7 bloggers I would like to pass the award on to...I love all these blogs and the bloggers themselves are pretty cool as well!
- Alexis @ Running Away? I'll Help You Pack
- Lisa @ My life...or is it?
- Lazy Housewife (what is her damn name...lol) @ So Not Domestic
- Anissa @ Peek-A-Boo Mommy
- Anjanette@ Momma Young's at Home
- Kel @ Girl in the Glasses
- Amber P @ Kiss my Cheek

Fast forward 20 years and now I see that same passion in my oldest daughter Tay-Tay. She is so much like me it's crazy...it seems the older she gets the more she reminds me of myself. Only she's much braver than I was...she'll sing for anyone...and she's AMAZING at it. Maybe it's like that song on High School Musical..."You Are the Music in Me"..lol. Sometimes I'll hear her singing along to the radio when she doesn't know I'm listening and it's hard to distinguish her voice from the singer, she really is that good. Of all of my children she seems to be most like me...and I have to admit that it makes me smile to see her enjoying all of the things that I did. It makes me feel like my passion for singing was maybe for another purpose...maybe I love music so much so that I can encourage her passion for singing. Whatever the reason I just think it's one of life's wonders to see yourself in your child!
So I want to know...which of your children is most like you...and in what way!

In the almost 10 years that I've been a mom I have learned so much. Sometimes I look back over that time and I am amazed that I made it through with just some bumps and bruises. I've decided to share with you some of the most important lessons I've learned from being a mom.- I've learned that there is no other word sweeter than Mommy. Sure sometimes the mere thought of hearing it uttered even once more makes our ears bleed, but think about how excited and proud you were when you heard your child say it for the first time. The instant warmth that filled your heart and soul when your baby looked up at you smiling and said Mommy...there is nothing more precious than that!
- I've learned to be selfless. Knowing that I can put aside my wants and needs to fulfill those of my children has made me a far better person than I used to be. Before I became a mom it was all about me, and honestly my life was sad, empty, and going no where fast...learning that the world doesn't revolve around you is a very humbling thing.
- I've learned that I will never be perfect. This perhaps is one of the most important lessons to be learned. When I was a new mom I was so consumed with doing everything perfect, but I soon realized that there is no such thing...and as soon as I learned that lesson being a mom became so much more fun and not nearly as stressful!
- I've learned that it's OK to need a break from your kids. My wonderful (insert sarcasm here) ex made me feel like a terrible mother for even daring to think that I needed a break, but I realized soon enough that if I didn't allow time for me every now and then I couldn't possibly be a good mom. By giving myself a break I realized that I came back to mommying with a renewed sense of purpose and that definitely makes for a better mommy!
- I've learned that poop and puke are just a part of every day life when you have kids. The longer you spend complaining and bitching about having to clean them up the less time you have to spend with that amazing kid who just vomited all over your new couch!
- And perhaps the most important thing I have learned is that life is short...too short. One day you'll look back (as I am doing right now) and wonder where the time went. One night you'll stand in the window and watch as your first born goes on her first date and you'll swear it was just yesterday that she hated boys. One day you'll be standing in the waiting room at the hospital waiting for your only sons first son to be born and remember when you were the one in the delivery room giving birth to him. Time is precious...so cherish every single moment (the good and the bad).
So in my never ending quest for knowledge I'm curious...what is the most important lesson you've learned being a parent?

I found this site that has a wealth of information about this so please check it out! And pass this information on to all the people you know that could be affected by this. Maybe together we can make them modify the law so that it protects our children, not put more of a burden on us!

That said I do cook, EVERY day and for the most part it's quick simple meals that I know my kids will eat and that I know require very little effort on my part. Anyway one of my favorite people to steal recipes from is Rachel Ray...she seems to share my affection for quick and easy meals. This past summer I was watching her morning show and saw her make something that stole my heart...Taco Pockets. Two of my very favorite things in this world are tacos (I would so eat them every day if I could) and cheese burgers, so this recipe is without a doubt one of my favorites...enjoy!
Taco Pockets

- 1 1/3 pounds ground sirloin or ground turkey breast
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon (a palmful) ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon, (a palmful) dark chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper sauce
- 1 teaspoon (1/3 palmful) coarse salt,
- 1 tablespoon (1 turn around the pan) vegetable oil,
- 4(12-inch diameter) soft flour tortillas
- 1 cup mild taco sauce
- 1 heart of romaine lettuce, shredded
- 2 small plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
- 2 cups shredded monterey jack
Combine ground meat with onion, garlic, spices, and salt and form 4 patties. Pan fry patties in 1 tablespoon oil over medium high heat for 7 minutes on each side.
To make a taco pocket, blister a flour tortilla on a hot griddle pan for 30 seconds on each side. Place tortilla on dinner plate and spread surface with 1 /4 cup mild taco sauce. Pile shredded lettuce, tomatoes and a handful of cheese in center of tortilla. Top veggies and cheese with cooked taco burger patty and wrap tortilla up and over patty on all four sides. Turn square pouch over and cut from corner to corner, making 2 taco pockets that will not crumble and drip like traditional tacos.
This pic is mine. The one above is courtesy of Rachel Ray. Somehow looking at this picture mines falls short, but I promise it was YUMMY!
Tay-Tay...a.k.a oldest
Nay-Nay...a.k.a. middle
Bub...my son
Ki-Ki...baby
Seems I love me some hyphens...anyway now you're up to speed.

Alright so my son is an addict! What may you ask is he addicted to? Noggin. For those of you that are scratching your heads wondering what on earth that is...it's a channel for Preschoolers by Nickelodeon but it's all preschool shows ALL THE TIME!Now from 8:00 a.m. until his bedtime if this damn channel isn't on my son paces (yes he paces around my living room on his short, chubby little legs) like something is majorly wrong. For anyone out there who is deeming me a bad mother for allowing this to happen let me first assure you that there are only 3 shows that my son actually watches...the rest of the time it's purely background noise, but there lies the problem. My son can be setting happily looking at books, or playing with trucks, or whatever it may be, not paying a bit of attention to the TV...until that is I change the channel or even worse turn the television off. As soon as that happens his head spins around (think the Exorcist) to the direction of the television, he jumps up, starts babbling something that I swear resembles quite a few cuss words, and runs to the television and stands there...waiting for me to turn the television back on to his show. When I do all is right with the world...he'll stand at the TV for a few minutes pretending to watch whatever nonsense happens to be on (I'm convinced that he does this purely to show me that he was watching it in the first place, just in case my remote finger gets itchy again...kids are way smarter than we give them credit for) and then return to playing with his toys with not one thought of the television. If I don't turn the television back on all hell breaks lose and my sweet, innocent son turns into a monster! I now know the theme songs to every single show on that channel, I know that Dora has a backpack and Diego has a rescue pack (which come on they are the SAME thing), and I know Yo Gabba Gabba is a seriously scary show that no child should watch (of course it just so happens that it's one of the shows my son LOVES...go figure).
My point? I need to buy another TV for me...a television that is only programmed for the Food Network, VH1 (I love me some Rock of Love...and most of the other stupid reality shows on that network), and BRAVO...I don't need any other channels just those and I'll be happy! I think that's what I'll do this weekend...go shopping for a Mommy TV!
I can not be the only mom experiencing this problem...please tell me I'm not the only one!

When I was 5, I was sure that I would never love a boy. I mean they all had cooties, they always pulled your hair when you weren’t looking, and they never wanted to play “house” on the playground. I remember my mom always telling me that no matter how mean the boys were I had to be nice to them, but why did I have to do that? My five year old mind just could not fathom being nice to some mean, smelly, cootie infested boy! Yes I was pretty sure that loving a boy was not in my future!
When I was 16, I was adamant that I would never love a boy. Oh sure when you’re 16 everything is all about boys, in fact a teenage girls life revolves around 3 things; boys, shopping, and boys, but for some reason I just knew that I would never love one of them! I remember my first “real” boyfriend. My whole world revolved around him; I ate, slept, and breathed HIM, it was sad! And then we broke up, and what used to be this warm, happy, fuzzy feeling when I thought about him turned to this dark, hateful, terrible feeling! That was the nail on the coffin so to speak, and that’s when I knew that my suspicions were right…I was adamant that I would never love a boy!
When I was 22, I was fairly certain that I would never love a boy! Sure they were nice to have around, especially when the oil in the car needed changed or there was a huge, hairy spider to kill, but most of the time they were still the same smelly, mean, cootie infested boys that they were when I was 5. It looked as though I was fairly certain that I was never going to love a boy!
When I was 27 it all changed! I remember the exact moment that I did indeed fall in love with a boy…it was August 1, 2007, at 4:58 p.m. I remember seeing him for the first time; his hair all a mess, his eyes red and puffy from crying, and his lips trembling with confusion and fear. I remember holding him in my arms for the first time and looking into those big, beautiful hazel eyes; in that moment time stood still, the earth stopped spinning for a brief moment, and everything that was wrong in the world just melted away. In that moment I had done what I was so sure I would never do…I had fallen in love with a boy…my boy…my son!

So the rules of this award (didn't I just do this the other day...lol) say that you must give the person who gave you the award link love, which I did, and that you must pick 10 other bloggers who you deem worthy of receiving this award! Since I love everyone whose blog I frequent I am trowing the rules out the window (let me assure you I followed them to the letter last time) and giving this award to everyone who frequents my blog...so if you're reading this...this award's for you...display it on your blog proudly!

I realized that my baby is growing up...My oldest daughter (who is almost 10) asked me to put make-up on her last night. So I know you're probably saying "Yea so?", but it's a huge deal! Taylor never wears make-up, in fact she has always hated it...but last night something happened. Maybe it didn't actually happen last night, it's probably been quite a while coming...I guess I was just unaware (maybe a little intentionally) of it until last night. One of Taylor's cousins called and asked her to go skating with her and a friend. As soon as she hung up the phone she was rushing around finding the cutest outfit, fixing her hair, and yes asking me to do her make-up. I have to admit I was a little sad, because I knew that it was the first of many nights out with her friends and without me, but I was also so happy because until very recently Taylor has been afraid to be away from me...last night was a big step for her. She'll be 10 next month and it seems impossible. It seems like just yesterday I was a new mommy who had this beautiful, precious little baby that I had no idea what to do with...now instead of needing me to feed her she needs me to put make-up on her and do her hair? It's nuts. Time flies...before you know it your babies are all grown up and you look back and wonder where on earth the time went...so cherish every single moment you have with them (even when it's 4 am and they are screaming and you haven't had 5 minutes sleep in 3 days)...trust me one day we'll all look back and wish we were there again.
