Despicable Me Giveaway!

If you have children then I’m willing to bet you’ve heard “Mommy, I wanna see Despicable Me!”.  I know all of my kids have been counting down the days until the movie is in theatres because they just cannot wait to see it.  For those of you who haven’t heard about Despicable Me let me give you the lowdown on what’s sure to be one of the summer’s hottest movies!  image
In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden deep beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by an army of tireless, little yellow minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal’s new 3-D CGI feature, Despicable Me.

Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.

One of the world’s greatest super-villains has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
Despicable Me features the voice talents of Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russel Brand (LOVE him), Will Arnett, Kristen Wig, Danny McBride, Miranda Cosgrove, Jack McBrayer, Jermaine Clement, and Julie Andrews.  With a cast as talented and funny as that you know Despicable Me is going to be a hit!  You can check out the trailer from the movie below!

  • Social Networking for Women

As a blogger, social networking is part of my everyday vocabulary.  Though I never realized the importance or power of using social networking before I started blogging, now more than ever I know how powerful and empowering it can be.

Just as powerful as social networking with other bloggers and businesses is social networking for women.  Finding a place where we can feel connected, inspired, and empowered in a safe female dominated environment is an amazing thing.  BraveHeart Women is  social networking for women that offers women a chance to be inspired by and  be connected to other women who share the same purpose and passions as you.  BraveHeart Women also gives women the opportunity to take action through global contribution.  As a woman, knowing that there are other women out there who share the same passions and goals in life as I do, is a great thing.  So often women do not have the opportunity  to connect with other women in the way and capacity they would like to, social networking has helped to bridge the gap and make those connections possible!

While social networking for women may not be a topic everyone knows about, I think it is only a matter of time before it’s as common as email and blogging.  It’s refreshing to know women can come together in a positive way and make a difference, and social networking is helping to make that a reality.

    Sending that Special Someone Flowers?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of 1-800-Flowers. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love flowers, (who doesn’t right?) from the way they look and smell, to the way they can bring the brightest of smiles to anyone’s face in an instant!  One of my favorite gifts to give are flowers and one of my favorite people to give them to are my mom.

Through the years my mother has done so much for me and it seems that the older I get the more I appreciate her and all of the tough love lessons and long, thoughtful talks she’s given to me, even though I may not have appreciated those things at the time.  Though my mother and I may not agree on our favorite type of flower, mine are tulips and have been for years while my mother prefers lilies and roses equally, we both love receiving them!  As a matter of face, I cannot think of anyone who deserves a big bouquet of roses, heck why not mix some lilies in there too, for no other reason than because I love her!

Thinking of sending that special person in your life a bouquet of flowers?  Why not check out the amazing selection at 1-800-FLOWERS.com, they have so many beautiful options and who doesn’t want a “just because” flower delivery every now and then?

Help Fight Breast Cancer…Pink Power Moms Campaign!

I don’t normally talk very much about causes and donating on my blog, but when it pertains to the fight against cancer I make an exception.

Two very important women in my family left this earth entire too soon because they lost their battles with cancer.  My grandmother, whom I never met and my great-grandmother, who was an integral part of my life both pasted away from complications of cancer and it has always weighed heavy on my heart.  Any attention I can bring to the fight against cancer I am more than happy to be a part of!  That is why when I found out about the Pink Power Mom campaign I knew I had to help spread the word!

Each year, Bright Starts™ honors and rewards eight women for their inspirational fight against breast cancer.  Not only have these women persevered through their battles, they have become inspirational leaders and role models for their families and communities. Whether they have started their own breast cancer foundation or have taken on an active role in existing charity organizations, they have made it their goal to make a difference in the world. You can read about these women at http://www.pinkpowermom.com

Bright Starts™ wants to help these women and support their cause. We invite you to Become a Fan of Bright Starts™ on Facebook and Be a Giver. Through the month of June, Bright Starts™ will donate $1 for every new fan that joins us during the campaign to benefit Pink Power Mom charities. These moms will appreciate your help and support.

So do something as simple as becoming a Fan of Bright Start’s on Facebook and help fight breast cancer!

My New Guilty Pleasure…Ice Road Truckers!

If you’ve read my blog for any length of time then you know all about my love of reality TV.  I will sit and watch a reality show about catching Great White sharks like it’s the most interesting thing on television…ever (and this particular show is by the way).  I find myself watching shows that I would never really imagine me watching, but strangely I do.  My new guilty pleasure is Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel!image OMG have you seen this show?  Not only are these people extremely unstable, (I mean come on…you have to admit, anyone willing to drive a semi on that road is just crazy) they are now officially my new heroes…none more than the lone lady in a sea of men…Lisa!  I am not sure what drew me to Ice Road Truckers in the first place, but now I am hooked, I spent the better part of my Sunday fighting terrible heartburn and watching IRT.  These truck drivers are seriously freaking Rock Stars and I just had to share how much I enjoy them (and the show) with y’all!
Do you watch Ice Road Truckers?  Maybe you have another, similarly strange, guilty pleasure reality show?  I wanna know…you know how much I love to talk about reality TV!

Give your Dad the Gift of Time!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Voctorinox Swiss Army. All opinions are 100% mine.

I, like many people, grew up without my real father in the picture.  The time I did spend with my father was infrequent and honestly not many “memories” were made.  I did reconnect with my father when my oldest daughter was born, but even after that our relationship has been strained at best.  I did however have a dad in my life, my step-father, who from the time I was 10 made sure I had a roof over my head, clothes on my back, food in my belly, and a shoulder to cry on!  My step-father has always been there when I needed him and to this day he is the only man I’ve ever considered worthy enough to call dad.

My dad loves watches, honestly I can’t remember ever seeing him without one! For years now he has worn the same old worn down watch that I remember my mom giving him as a birthday gift when I was a teenager.  This year when I started thinking of Father’s Day gifts I knew a watch was the right choice…and I found the perfect watch, the Victorinox Swiss Army!  There is it in all its glory…now that is a watch that I know my dad will treasure for years to come!

    image

Think the Father in your life would love this watch?  You can go here and check out the entire Victorinox collection!  You can also head over to the Facebook IWAW sweepstakes page  and Fan them and also participate in the I Wear a Watch sweepstakes for a chance to win a Victorinox Swiss Army timepiece!

Conversations with My Son: The Pee Pee/Po Po Game

MH900442480Yesterday as I was folding laundry my son and I had an impromptu conversation about boys and girls and their *ahem* parts!  Now Little Man has been potty training (hard core like the champ he is) for nearly a month now so he hears “Don’t sqeeze your pee pee that hard.” and “Point your pee pee into the toilet.” a few dozen times a day, so I think it’s pretty safe to say he knows what a pee pee is.  Little Man has also been introduce (quiet unwillingly I might add) to the word po po  (what my girlies have called their private parts forever) one night while in the bathtub he noticed that Little Diva’s parts were pretty different than his and that raised a whole host of questions from him.
Fast forward to yesterday and our conversation!
Me:  (Folding a bra and sitting it on my bed) Thank you so much for your help Bub, that’s so nice of you!
Little Man:  Yea Mommy!  (picking up said bra) That your boobs Mom?
Me:  Um no that is my bra silly boy, it holds my boobies.
Little Man:  Oh yea mommy!  (putting the bra on) I wear you ba?
Me:  Um  better not Bub bras are for girls.
Little Man:  (struggling to get the bra on) I not a girl?
Me:  Nope Bub you’re a boy…boys don’t wear bras do they?
Little Man:  (taking the bra off)  No Mommy!  Daddy a boy?
Me:  Yes Bub he is…good job!
    Little Man:  TayTay a boy?
Me:  No Taylor is a girl!
This started a whole line of “Is this person a boy or girl?” questions that magically morphed into what I like to call “The Pee Pee/Po Po Game”!
Bub:  Bub Bub has a pee pee and Sissy has a po po!
Me:  Yes, that’s right!  What does mommy have?
    Bub:  (Smiling hardcore)  BOOBIES!
See that proves it…men (no matter what age) can’t get past the boobs!

Father’s Day Recipes Dad Will Love!

With Father’s Day quickly approaching the scramble to secure last minute gifts is on!  So what do you get for the guy who you love most?  A neck tie?  A pack of socks?  Maybe a “Worlds Greatest Dad” mug?  Those gifts have been done and done again so why not give the dad in your life something he’ll be sure to appreciate…give him the gift of food!  I mean come on every woman knows that the way to a mans heart is through his stomach!  I have a few killer recipes from Mrs. Butterworth, Franks Red Hot, French’s Mustard, and Duncan Hines to share with you that will be sure to please dad!
Let’s say we’re building the perfect Father’s Day feast…breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert…this is going to be yummy!  We’ll start with breakfast, heck why not even serve it to him in bed (hey, mom is not the only one who deserves  breakfast in bed every once in a while).  So what would the perfect breakfast be?  Let’s see…how about Hawaiian French Toast?  Sounds delicious!

Now let’s move on to lunch…how about something hot and spicy?  Sounds perfect for the man in my life and I hope the man in yours thinks so too!  How do chicken wings sound?  That’s what I thought…perfecto!

    Peanut Butter Filling:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 cup peanut butte
    Frosting:

    Baking Instructions:
    1. Heat oven to 350°F. In medium bowl, beat brownie mix, softened butter, softened cream cheese and egg. Mix either by hand or by using a mixer.
    1. Roll 1 tablespoon of dough into balls and place on lightly greased or parchment lined cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Should make 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
    1. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and peanut butter together and roll into small balls using about 1 teaspoon. Press peanut butter balls into surface of uncooked brownie cookies and slightly flatten cookie. Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are set. Cookies may appear slightly under cooked, but do not overbake. Cool on cookie sheets for about 3 mins and transfer to wire rack.
    1. If Desired: Place 6 tablespoons of frosting into a microwave safe container and melt (30 seconds), drizzle melted chocolate over top of cookie. Cool.
    Tips:

    Freschetta Flatbread = YUMMO!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Freschetta. All opinions are 100% mine.

Our family loves pizza!  Whether it’s family night with a movie and our favorite pizzeria's weekly special or a busy week night and our favorite frozen offering, pizza is a huge crowd pleaser around here!  Pizza is especially a great go-to meal for me because of how convenience the frozen brands can be.  And since I depend on the frozen variety often, we definitely have our favorite brand…Freschetta!

We have been loyal Freschetta fans around here for years now and I can’t say enough nice things about their pizza…it’s just awesome!  One of the new products we recently tried by Freschetta is the Freschetta FlatBread .  I am a huge fan of Flatbread anyway and the fact that it’s Freschetta makes it even better!  My favorite variety of Freschetta Flatbread is the Zest Italian…it’s covered in delicious meats and chesses and has an amazing zesty sauce that just takes it over the top!  Of course, I cannot deny that I also love the Roasted Garlic and Spinach…it’s unique and awesome all at the same time and it makes this mommy very happy!

Have you tried Freschetta Flatbread yet?  No?  Well what are you waiting for?  It’s yummo!  And just because I love sharing great deals with you guys…you can go here and get a $1 off coupon so you can try Freschetta Flatbread for yourself…you’ll be glad you did!

New Feature on MIBR: Music Monday!

A few months ago I decided that I would use the weekends to talk about music…well that idea came and went and I never really stuck with it, which is such a shame because I love music.  So I decided to make Monday’s my official “let’s talk about music” day…or Music Monday!  And because I hope that all of you love music as much as I do (hey who doesn’t like music) I want Music Monday to be something we all can enjoy.  So each week there will be a different theme and a chance for you to link your Music Monday post…there is even a cool button you can rock on your post…it doesn’t get more Rock than that…right?

So this weeks topic is:  What song was #1 the day you were born?

Now this is a question that I have asked myself before and of course I had to find out so I did…easily on Every Hit.com…punch in your birthday and you get the #1 song that day in history…pretty cool huh?

So the #1 song on my birthday was:

    On 23rd Feb 1979 ...
    The Number 1 single was:
    Blondie - "Heart Of Glass"

    The Number 1 album was:
    Blondie - "Parallel Lines"

    Wanna participate?

Simple…go to Every Hit.com and punch in your birthday…then post your Music Monday post and come back and leave the link…easy peasy!

Oh and don’t forget to grab the button!

    My Baby Clothes Boutique {Review and Giveaway}

Having four children means lots of shopping for clothes—lots.  While I love shopping it seems that whenever I shop at the stores nearby everything is the same and everyone and their cousin’s kids have the same clothes my kids have.  Needless to say I like different in not only the styles I choose but also the styles I choose for my children.

    mybabyclothes

When I want a unique outfit for one of my children I always hit the internet and the online boutiques.  Recently I was approached to do a review for My Baby Clothes Boutique, and given my love of boutique baby clothes and shopping I was very happy to accept.  My Baby Clothes Boutique offers shoppers the most fashion forward and trendy clothes on the market at the guaranteed lowest prices!  Not only does the team at My Baby Clothes Boutique search to find the cutest, most comfortable, highest quality clothes, they insist that if they don’t have what you’re looking for they will find it for you and add it to their already impressive selection.

From baby headbands  and baby hats to  fashionable clothing and accessories for baby and toddler, My Baby Clothes Boutique has a huge variety of clothing as unique as the children they are destined to adorn!  Since I love shopping for children's clothes I spent quite a bit of time on My Baby Clothes Boutique just looking around and I just have to share some of my finds with you!

Is this not the cutest dress you have ever seen?  It would look so cute on the Little Diva!

And this?  With these?  Too cute for words!

    image

Of course, I can’t forget Little Man…would he not look like a Rock Star in this hat or what?

So much cuteness on one website…I can hardly contain myself!  For my review I chose the adorable Bow Sandal for the Little Diva…at one and a half she already has a shoe collection that rivals Carrie Bradshaw, so I knew a shoe review would be perfect for her!  The Bow Sandal is a white patent leather flip flop with a perfect pink and turquoise zebra print detail are bound to put an extra pep in her step this summer. The over-sized bow adds that extra touch to make these sandals a definite head turner.  Aside from the fact that the sandals are absolutely adorable I love the fact that there is an elastic strap in the back that prevents the flip flops from flipping right off Little Diva’s feet.  I cannot tell you how many compliments Little Diva’s new flip flops have received…everyone from her favorite Auntie to strangers at the grocery store have stopped me to comment on how adorable they are!
