Show Dad he's SUPER Giveaway Spectacular Day 2...Cooperstown Cookie Company**CLOSED*

It's Day 2 of my Show Dad he's SUPER Father's Day Giveaway Spectacular (say that 3 times fast). I hope you all had a chance to check out the great cufflinks for Dad in Day 1 of my Father's Day giveaways! Now on to more great giveaways for Dad!

If the man in your life is like the main man in mine then he loves sports! Every Father's Day I struggle to find my fiance something that is unique, fun, and fits his personality and every Father's Day it gets harder and harder to find the perfect gift. If you have this problem no worries I have the coolest Father's Day gift ever for all of the sports obsessed Dads out there!

When I first heard of the Cooperstown Cookie Company I thought that it was the coolest gift idea ever! But before I tell you how much I love them let me tell you a little bit about them. The Cooperstown Cookie Company hit a home run when they debuted their Classic Baseball Shortbread at the World Series Gala at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in October of 2004. Their cookies have been featured on the Food Network's show Unwrapped as well as being named the "Snack of the Day" on the Rachel Ray show! The company was founded by Pati Grady who is also the president and the original recipe (still in use today) was inspired by Grady's own family recipe. In addition to the Classic Baseball Shortbread the Cooperstown Cookie Company also offers Boys of Summer Lemon Shortbread , and Mudville Mudball Chocolate Chip cookies to tempt your baseball lovers sweet tooth. Aside from their awesome cookies the Cooperstown Cookie Company also works hard to give back to the community! Their products are made in cooperation with Pathfinder Village, which is a residential community for adults and children with Down Syndrome and a place "where each life may find meaning". The Cooperstown Cookie Company also teamed up with the National Baseball Hall of Fame to create a line of baseball gifts called, "Baseball...Anyone Can Play" all of the gifts promote the universal appeal of the game of baseball and all profits from the T-shirts and mugs which feature the amazing artwork of Lonni Sue Johnson benefit Pathfinder Village...I told you this company was awesome!
Now on to my favorite part...the cookies! We received the Celebration Cookie Tower (pictured above) , which is just one of many gift options, emblazoned with our favorite teams logo (Go Reds!). We are huge baseball fans in my house and any excuse we can find to talk about (or in this case eat) baseball we are all over it! First I have to tell you that the cookie tower was so adorable that I almost didn't want to unwrap it...almost! I envisioned sending every Dad I know cookie towers for Father's Day...seriously they are that impressive! The cookies were of course just as impressive as the tower itself, my personal favorite was the Boys of Summer Lemon Shortbread (yummy). The baseball cookies are baked by hand (which is undoubtedly what makes them so great) and the Boys of Summer Lemon and Classic Shortbread varieties are made using all natural ingredients the cookies are also made in the USA just minutes from Cooperstown! If you are looking for a fun, unique, and yummy gift for the man in your life this Father's Day then you should definitely check out Cooperstown Cookie Company!

Messy, Messy Eater...and a solution!

How many times have you put your toddler in his high chair to feed himself only to regret it 20 minutes later? How many times have you stared at your floor and the mess said toddler made in disbelief and wished that there was a way to combat the mess? As you can probably guess I've experienced this problem a time or (fifty). Bub is nearly two and so independent that he will allow me to do very little for him. He insists on feeding himself at night and refuses help from anyone. I was pulling my hair out every time I sat idly by and watched as he not only covered himself in his dinner but the floor as well.
(This is how Gaige usually looks after dinner..the picture really does not do the mess justice!)

I was surfing the Internet one day looking for the answers to my messy eater problem and came across something called the Wupzey food catcher (no not the TV show...this is much much better). Of course I just had to try it out because if it could solve my messy eater messes then I had to share it with all of you, so I received one to review. The Wupzey is touted as the ultimate baby food catcher for highchairs and I'll just say that it has made my clean up after meals so much less. The Wupzey is easily attached to any high chair and works to catch food, cups, and any utensils that the child may drop (though it only catches food dropped down the front of the high chair...my son has a bad habit of throwing his food and the Wupzey doesn't catch that). It is easily wiped off and can be placed in the washing machine as well. They come in many cute colors and patterns and Wupzey also sell bibs as well as shopping cart covers.
(The Wupzey really helped the mess on the floor...now to find something to help messy faces.)

So if you have a naughty toddler who thinks dinner time is play time then I would definitely recommend the Wupzey!

The Natural Dentist...Review and Giveaway! *CLOSED*

I have been trying very hard lately to use as many natural products as I can with all things from the personal car products I use to trying to find the best most natural foods to feed my family. As I further my quest for the best products for my family I have come across so many amazing brands and companies that I never knew existed until I was given the chance to review them, but it's safe to say that they are products that I plan to use for a long time to come!

The Natural Dentist is one of those companies that I had never heard of until I was given the chance to review their products. The Natural Dentist is a company built on unique and powerful mouth rinses and toothpastes that are not only natural but recommended by dentists! I have to say that I really enjoy the fact that there products are natural and that the products are packaged without a box which helps greatly to eliminate waste. The Natural Dentist mouth rinses and toothpastes are formulated using a patent pending herbal blend and are free of alcohol, artificial sweeteners, dyes, and preservatives.

My family received the Healthy Teeth Kids Toothpaste (in Sparkle Berry Blast), Healthy Teeth Fluoride Rinse (also in Berry Blast), and the Natural Dentist Pre-Brush Whitening Rinse to review. As I have mentioned before my children have very sensitive teeth and it is quite difficult to find toothpaste that is not only easy on their sensitive teeth but they like the taste of. The first time my girls used the toothpaste they immediately commented on how good the flavor was, but the big test was yet to come. Neither of the girls experienced a problem with the toothpaste causing increased sensitivity (which is great because tooth brushing is usually a not so pleasant time at my house). I had no expectations when I used the mouth rinses but was very pleasantly surprised at how great the flavor was and how well it freshened my breath. I did however notice some sensitivity after using the Pre-Brush Whitening Rinse but I used the Healthy Teeth Fluoride Rinse with no problems. Overall our experience with The Natural Dentist products was a good one and I would definitely purchase them in the future for my family.

How would you like to win some of these great products? Well the extremely nice people at The Natural Dentist are giving 2 Misadventures in Baby Raising winners the chance to do just that! One winner will receive the Natural Dentist Pre-Brush Whitening Rinse and the Healthy Teeth Kids Toothpaste and the other will receive the Healthy Teeth and Gums Original Toothpaste and the Healthy Teeth Fluoride Rinse.

How to win!!!

1. To be entered into this giveaway go to The Natural Dentist and come back and leave a comment telling me what Natural Dentist product you would like to try. Make sure to leave your email address in your comment. This is mandatory and must be done before any extra entries count!

Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil Review

I have always had a problem with dry skin. Now that I'm a mom and my hands are in water constantly the problem is worse than ever. I am constantly trying new hand lotions that promise miracle results and produce absolutely nothing. A few months ago a good friend and I were having a conversation about something or other when she stopped mid-sentence and grabbed my hand, I wasn't sure whether to be afraid or laugh, but quickly realized what had caught her attention...my horribly dry skin. "Doesn't that hurt?" she asked obviously in disbelief that my hands were so dry. Of course I went on to tell her that I've tried every lotion known to man and so far had found nothing that helps. She began telling me about virgin coconut oil and how she used it for everything including a moisturizer for her skin. I figured anything was worth trying and made a mental note to look into it. Well if you know anything about me then you know that mental notes are not the best way to remember something so I quickly forgot all about it.

About a month ago I had the chance to try out Tropical Traditions virgin coconut oil and remembering my friend and her praises of the product I gave it a shot. At first I just used the oil as a moisturizer on my hands and body and then I started reading the booklet that came with the coconut oil and began to realize how many uses the product had, from cooking with it to helping increase metabolism virgin coconut oil has a million uses. I quickly found out that it makes an excellent hair conditioner, I used it on my oldest daughter's hair (she has coarse, dry, very thick hair that is hard to manage) and it did an amazing job at making her hair so much softer and much less brittle. Some of the other ways that virgin coconut oil can be used include,

  • As a weight loss aid

  • Sun protection

  • Underarm protection

  • Boosts energy

  • It can even be used for your pets.

Sweets n Treats CD Review

My son loves music...he's going to be a rock star when he grows up! If he's watching a television show or a movie and there is not music (so he can sing and dance) then he walks away. I'm having a little problem at the moment with him listening to songs on the radio and then singing along and some of the songs ("Hope it gives you Hell" is the biggest problem at the moment) are not nearly appropriate for little ears.

I am always on the lookout for great kids music and it has to meet several criteria before Gaige is interesting in listening.
  1. The music has to be fun!
  2. Gaige has to be able to sing and dance to it!
  3. Gaige loves music that is interactive (clap your hands, stomp your feet).
When I found out that my family would be reviewing Sweets 'n' Treats children's CD by Tracey Singer I was very excited! As soon as I received the CD I popped it into the CD player and was instantly surprised at how lively and animated the music was. I knew that my son would love the music but I was pleasantly surprised when all four of my kids started singing and dancing along. Characters like Mall Mom, Foxy Joe, and Hard-Hearted Haley make the music come to life and add a comical element to the music. I had to laugh when my middle daughter shouted out, "Mommy I know someone just like that!" when Hard-Hearted Haley was introduced in the song Nana Nana Boo Boo. Our absolute favorite song though was the title song Sweets 'n' Treats, which talks about every kids fantasy of eating nothing but candy and sweet stuff.

Here's the low down on Tracey Singer, the man behind the music! Tracey is a stay-at-home dad who has found a way to juggle full-time parenting with songwriting, performing, and studio work. Singer actually has an MBA and traded a management position at a Fortune 100 company to stay at home with his kids. Tracey says that his music is a blend of several styles of music noting, "Just look at the song list on any child's ipod and you will find song styles that jump all over the place. I created this album to be like a pre-loaded ipod for kids."

If you're looking for a fun, energetic, great CD for your kids I recommend Sweets 'n' Treats, you're kids will love it and you might just find yourself singing along to Mall Mom just like I did. Sweets 'n' Treats is scheduled to have a July 7, 2009 release date.

Proactiv...not just for teens!

When I became pregnant for the first time so many things changed with my body, some good (can you say goodbye B cup) and some not so much. The one change I noticed right away when I became pregnant was the explosion of acne all over my face. As a teenager I never really experienced acne, sure I had the occasional pimple but that was the extent of my experience. That all changed when I became became a mom and I'm not so happy to say that it has been a problem that I've struggled with for years now. I go through stages where I have no breakouts and no problems but when it rains it pours and it's those times when I wish I had the solutions to the problem.

Over the years I've tried a number of different products; some over the counter some prescription and all with the same results, very little change in the amount of acne on my face and even less change in the frequency of recurring breakouts. A few weeks ago I was asked to review Proactiv and not expecting much but willing to give it a try I agreed. I have been using the Proactiv kit for almost a week and a half now and I have noticed great results. My breakouts are non existent, my skin feels smoother, and the appearance of my skin is visibly improved. I loved the ease of using the products (there kit that I received contained Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, Repairing Lotion, and the Refining Mask) and my favorite product was the Refining mask which worked over night to get rid of rogue pimples. In my experience with other acne medications (both OTC and prescription) the products made my skin very blotchy and most dried my skin out to the point of peeling. I did experience some dryness with Proactiv but nothing like the other products that I've used. I just cut back from using the products twice a day to once a day and the dryness hasn't been nearly as bad.
For those of you who haven't heard of Proactiv here's the low down. Proactiv was developed by two Standford-trained dermatologists (who both just happen to be women). The creators of Proactiv had both suffered from and survived acne and so their quest for an acne product that not only worked but continued to produce amazing results began and Proactiv was created. I always found out that Proactiv was actually developed for adult women something that I found interesting since most acne products are developed for teens.
It's nice to know that there is a product out there that was not only developed for women like me, but that actually works. I've never gotten excited about an acne product before because the honest truth is they have all promised results that just did not happen, but Proactiv worked for me when nothing else has. Whether you suffer from acne or just have the occasional pimple and need a great preventative routine you should definitely check out Proactiv...it's not just for teens!

ECOZOO backpack review

If there is one thing my son loves it's backpacks (I have Dora and Diego to thank for that). He tries all the time to carry Taylor and Savanna's backpacks around but to no avail and I see the sad look in his eyes every single time he tries and fails to pick them up. I've looked into buying him his own backpack but most of the ones I've come across are either plastic (yuck) or they are way too big for him.

I found out about ecogear when I was asked to review one of the backpacks in their new kids line called ECOZOO. ecogear offers an array of Eco-friendly bags in many different styles in colors to fit anyone's taste.

We received the ECOZOO Puppy Backpack to review. As soon as I took the backpack out of the package my son went crazy screaming, "Backpack. Backpack!" I think he liked it. I liked the fact that the backpack wasn't too big or heavy for him. I swear to you he's wore that backpack every single day since it arrived in the mail. Let me give you a little information about the product.
  • ECOZOO backpacks are constructed of organic cotton canvas.
  • They have padded adjustable shoulder straps and they actually adjusted to fit my son (he's 2) and my middle daughter (she's 7)
  • ECOZOO backpacks are free of toxic dyes.
  • The backpacks are made using sustainable wood and organically grown accessories.
The ECOZOO line of backpacks come in 4 different animals, Panda, Puppy,Pig, and Elephant. They are available at ecogear.com and sell for $29.99.

Going in a new direction

As some of you may have noticed I've been doing quite a bit of reviews and giveaways lately and not so many regular posts and I just thought I'd share with you all my reasons for doing this.

I have decided that Misadventures in Baby Raising will be a review and giveaway blog for the most part...I will still post some non-review stuff here but mostly this blog will be for that purpose. Even though I just started doing reviews and giveaways on my blog I have been reviewing products for companies for several years now and its something that I enjoy doing very much. I think that it is through product reviewers personal experiences with products that companies are better able to make the products we use every day even better...who wouldn't want to have some influence in the products we buy? I also enjoy finding new products that I think that my readers will enjoy as much as I do and sharing those products with them be it through a review or a giveaway.

I hope that my decision to make Misadventures a review/giveaway blog doesn't offend anyone and the last thing I want is for anyone to think that my blog is a commercial for various products. I choose the products I review and giveaway carefully and with the belief that they are products that we would all love to know about. And don't worry I'm still keeping My Mommy Said as my regular blog and hopefully I'll get back into the swing of things very soon with the silly stories, videos, pictures, and craziness that once consumed my blog!

Thank you all for putting up with me and be on the look out for an insanely awesome Father's Day Giveaway event as well as an equally amazing summer blog party that I'm hosting with my good friend Alexis from Running Away? I'll Help you Pack! These are 2 blog events you will NOT want to miss...more details to come!

Kiss My Face Review and Giveaway!!!!*CLOSED*

I am always on the lookout for new products for my kids and it's become an obsession to find only the safest most natural products for them. With more and more companies introducing "Eco-friendly" and "natural" alternatives to their original products it's becoming more difficult to sort out the good from the hype.

I heard about Kiss My Face from one of my friends a while back but never really gave the company a second thought. Of course this was before I really committed myself to being more green in all aspects of my life. Recently I was asked to do a review for Kiss My Face and I thought that was fates way of telling me that I needed to start using these products so I accepted (I wouldn't want to mess with fate after all) and I'm very glad that I did.

Kiss My Face is a company that is committed to producing high quality beauty and personal care products that are organic and natural. The company (founded in the 1980's) was the brainchild of two vegetarians who were looking for healthy personal care alternatives...Kiss My Face was created from their need to find great natural products. The Kiss My Face collection features everything from toothpaste and shower gels, to cosmetics and deodorant.

Kiss My Face also has a great kids line that includes hand wash, toothpaste, bubble wash, and lip balms among other products. Kiss My Face Kids is free of artificial colors, fragrances, parabens, and SLS. The kids collection is full of natural ingredients including Organic Green Tea Extract (which helps protect against sun damage), Nettle Extract (to stimulate hair growth and improve the condition of the scalp), and Tea Tree Oil (which is known for its germ killing abilities).

My kids received the entire kids line to try out and boy did they have a great time reviewing these products. The first thing they noticed about the products was the brightly colored bottles and the adorable animals on them. Each package features a different endangered species, Peter the Panda, Preston the Penguin (my personal favorite) and Walter the Whale among others. [One very cool aspect of Kiss My Face Kids that I loved is the fact that your children can go online to www.kissmyface.com/kids and interact with the animals, learn interesting facts about them, download coloring pages, and even play games!] When my children used the products they raved about the scent (we received the Orange u Smart scent) they loved the way it smelled. I have to admit I wasn't too crazy about the orange scent but they liked it and that's all that mattered. Overall I really was impressed with the way the products worked, they got my babies squeaky clean and they had fun getting that way, which is very unusual. They especially loved the Walter the Whale soap which is actually shaped like a whale (so cute). I was most impressed by the 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner my fiance and I both couldn't believe how soft Gaige's hair was after we washed his hair with it!

Buy it: The products range in price from $5.95 to $9.95 and can be purchased online at www.kissmyface.com as well as Target, Whole Foods, and natural food stores.

Win it: Kiss My Face has generously agreed to give one Misadventures in Baby Raising reader the entire kids line of products (includes all of the products pictured above)...
  • Self-Foaming Shampoo and Body Wash
  • Self-Foaming Hand Wash
  • Detangler Creme
  • Toothpaste with fluoride

  • A Whale of a Soap

Huggies Pure & Natural diapers review

As a mom I know the importance of a good diaper and while I do not cloth diaper my children (honestly my hat goes off to those of you who do) I still always try to make sure that I am using the best possible disposable diapers for my children.

Recently I had the opportunity to review Huggies new Pure & Natural diapers and I have to admit I was very excited to try them out. First let me give you a little background on my daughter and diapers. Kinley has very sensitive skin and it doesn't take much for her to get a bad diaper rash or even a yeast infection and most of the time they are brought on by the diapers that she wears. I have struggled for months and months to find diapers that she can wear without the rashes and honestly it is very hard and quite frustrating constantly switching diapers.

Now for a little bit about Huggies Pure & Natural diapers..
  • Huggies Pure & Natural diapers features organic cotton in the outer cover of the diaper and aloe and vitamin E in the inner cover...the diapers are honestly the softest diaper I've ever felt.
  • They are fragrance free and hypoallergenic.
  • They have less ink than traditional Huggies diapers.
  • The packaging is made of 20% post-consumer recycled materials.
We have been using the Huggies Pure & Natural diapers for about a week now and I'm happy to report that Kinley hasn't had a single diaper rash, which is wonderful news to me!

If you would like to try Huggies Pure & Natural diapers you can visit www.HuggiesPureandNatural.com to request a free sample!

Post-it Recycled Notes Review and Giveaway...3 winners!*CLOSED*

If I had to list 5 things that I could not live without I'm pretty sure that Post-it Notes would be pretty close to the top of that list. Not only am I a complete freak when it comes to organization but I have issues when it comes to remembering things as well. Thankfully I always have a stack of Post-it Notes near by to help me remember all of the important tasks on my daily To-Do list.

When I was asked to review Post-it Recycled Notes I was actually a little surprised to find that they offered an Eco-friendly version of the original. I was however, very impressed by Post-it's Eco-conscious contribution to their line. Since I didn't know too much about their new line of recycled products I did a little research and found some facts about the Post-it Notes Recycled line of products.

  • Post-it Notes are made with paper from well-managed forests where trees are replanted.
  • All Post-it products sold in the United States are made in the United States.
  • Post-it Notes are made from 100% recycled paper with 30% of that being post-consumer waste content.

While I do always try to use recycled paper I get agitated by the poor quality of the majority of it. I prefer my writing surface to be smooth and most of the time recycled paper is not. Naturally I was curious to see if the recycled Post-it Notes were of the same quality as the original Post-it Notes...I was not disappointed. I could tell no difference between the texture of the recycled notes and the original, the notes had a smooth texture that was easy to write on and not at all coarse like some recycled paper. Not only was the quality of the Post-it Notes exceptional they also come in amazing rich colors made to resemble the colors of nature. I was actually very impressed and also very glad to know that I could enjoy the Post-it's that I love and use regularly and not feel guilty using a product that isn't Eco-friendly.

How would you like to win some Post-it Recycled Notes of your own? The very kind people at Post-it are offering 3 Misadventures in Baby Raising readers one set each of the Post-it Super Sticky 4"x6" Lined Notes (in assorted pastel colors, 5 pads of 100 sheets each) and the Post-it Super Sticky 3"x3" Note Cube (in assorted tropical colors, 5 pads of 90 sheets each).

Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets

The life of a stay-at-home-mom is super busy; cleaning, cooking, play dates, running kids all over God's creation, and laundry the dreaded thorn in my side. If I could choose one chore to eliminate forever it would without a doubt be the laundry. There are a million reasons why I despise doing laundry but in an effort to save time I decided to list the top 3 reasons I dislike it...
  1. I always seem to spill the laundry detergent everywhere while I'm measuring it into the tiny little cup that comes with the bottles.
  2. I never remember to add fabric softener until it's too late.
  3. No matter what kind of dryer sheet (or sheets is more accurate) I use my clothes always come out full of static.
The laundry gods must have been listening to us moms because Purex has introduced the single most amazing laundry product I have ever used. Purex recently introduced Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry sheets and I promise you they will revolutionize the way we all do laundry! Purex 3-in1 laundry sheets combine the perfect amount of laundry detergent, fabric softener, and anti-static relief in a thin, sturdy, convenient sheet that is easily transferred from the washer to the dryer without ever having to measure or remember to add anything!

When I received the 3-in-1 laundry sheets I went straight to my laundry room and started a load of laundry and I can not tell you how great it was to start the washer, put in the laundry sheet and my clothes, and then do nothing until it was time to put the clothes in the dryer it was pure bliss. Of course I checked to make sure that there was sufficient soap (there was) and when the clothes were washed I had to make sure they smelled clean (they did) but the biggest test came when I removed my clothes from the dryer and there was no static...that in itself is reason enough to buy these!

Purex 3-in-1 Laundry sheets come in 3 great scents and are available where ever Purex laundry products are sold.

6 Unimportant things that make me happy!

Sarah at My Charmed Life tagged me with this meme the other day and while I usually forget to post them I actually remembered this time so here it goes.

Here are the rules:
Mention the person who tagges you.
List 6 unimportant things that make you happy.
Tag 6 other blogs.

6 Unimportant things that make me happy.
  1. Sitting on my front porch during a thunderstorm listening to the rain.
  2. Discovering my kids didn't chew all of the gum I keep stashed in my purse.
  3. Finishing all of my laundry (this very rarely happens).
  4. Being able to go to the grocery store by myself and listening to the music in the car as loudly as I wish.
  5. Painting my toenails and not having one of my kids step on them 5 seconds later.
  6. Finding the time to put on make-up and fix my hair.

And I think I'm going to tag...
