I don’t know about yours, but my kids can’t get enough of the Robertson family and Uncle Si is their absolute favorite so combining Uncle Si with one of their all-time favorite children’s movies was almost too much excitement for them to stand….seriously y’all, I thought they might bust waiting for me to open the DVD and get it in the DVD player.  Now normally I’m not much on watching movies, but I couldn’t resist watching this one with my little ones, even Daddy got in on the act and I am very happy to report that it was a HIT!  My kids loved seeing Si as Silas the wise okra and the message of compassion for others and the true meaning of Christmas was as prominent as the powerfully, positive messages in all VeggieTales movies, it’s definitely a new Christmas favorite at our house!  If your little ones love VeggieTales, then they’ll definitely love “Merry Larry and the True Lights of Christmas”!

My Lil Diva is at home with me everyday (due to her birthday falling just after the cutoff for kindergarten, she gets an extra year with Mommy…I am NOT complaining) and trying to keep a 5 year old entertained isn’t always as easy as one might think.  Since Diva’s days will be much more structured once she enters kindergarten, I try to keep her busy with both structured and free play and when she has the chance one of her absolute favorite things to do is putting  together puzzles.  All of my children definitely get their love of puzzle building from me, it’s nothing for me to buy a 1500 piece puzzle and spend every free moment putting it  together, it’s very therapeutic, and that love has rubbed off on my kids.  One of the reasons I encourage puzzle building as much as I do, especially with Lil Diva, is because it combines education (problem solving, learning patience, hand-eye coordination) with fun and that’s a win—win for both of us!




While traditional wooden puzzles are the ones I usually choose for Lil Diva, I couldn’t resist trying out the new iJig Interactive Electronic Puzzle System from Fisher-Price, when I was given the chance.  You’d think since trying out new toys is just part of the blogging gig (at least it has been for me), I wouldn’t get overly excited with another one, but nope, that’s so not the case, because I couldn’t wait to get out the iJig and try it out…and I’m not even ashamed to admit that Lil Diva was no where to be found while I was playing.  Before I get into more detail about the iJig, I thought I’d show you a little demo of the iJig at work…you’re going to love this one…I promise!

I’ve mentioned many times over the years how much all of my children love yogurt and the older they get, the more they seem to like it, which means that it is a staple in our refrigerator.  While each of my children have their own favorite flavors of yogurt, their favorite brand remains the same…Yoplait Go-GURT®.

Write a Letter. Raise a Giant With Green Giant and #MyBlogSpark {+ Win a $25 Visa GC)

Having four children, three of which are in school, the topic of bullying and ultimately bully prevention, comes up quite often.  I'm lucky in that, for the most part, my children haven't dealt with much bullying and aside from the occasional run-ins with some kids at school, they've managed to make it thus far in school without much incident.  While my children may not deal with being bullied themselves very often, I do make it a point to discuss with them my expectations for them with regard to how they treat others, in our house, there's a strict Zero Tolerance Policy in place for bullying and we enforce it to the letter.

I took the time to write each one of my children a letter letting that know how proud I am of them for always standing up for and speaking up against bullying.  I know that it may not always be as easy as writing a letter to get through to them, but I honestly believe that the simple act of letting them know in writing, not only how proud I am of them, but how important it is to be the voice for those who can't speak for themselves, will go a long way.  I encourage each of you to write a letter to your child(ren) letting them know how proud you are of them and how important it is for them to be a giant!

For this campaign a $25 donation was made in my name to the Pacer’s Center for Bully Prevention and I can't think of a better incentive to be part of a campaign!

Office Depot and One Direction Team Up To Help Prevent Bullying {+Win a One Direction Gift Bag}

Earlier this month I told y'all about a great initiative that the Office Depot Foundation teamed up with super popstar's One Direction to help pave the way for a bully free learning environment with the “Be The Difference. Speak Up Against Bullying!” program.  With October being National Bullying Prevention Month, I think it's so important to spread the word in any way we can so we can bring more attention to this issue and help bring bullying to an end.

With every new thing I learn about The Office Depot Foundation, I like and respect them a little more and knowing that One Direction is doing their part to ensure a bully-free future for our kids, well, that just makes it a little easier for me as a mom to listen to Best Song Ever a million times a day (actually, I think I like that song almost as much as my 11 year old does). 

One Direction and Office Depot joined forces to benefit anti-bullying initiatives and in an effort to raise both awareness and funds to support anti-bullying initiative's in school nationwide, Office Depot and 1D kicked off a partnership earlier this year to pave the way for bully free learning environments.

Schwan's was nice enough to send us a few of their seasonal products to check out recently and the Southern Ohio weather cooperated perfectly with several cool nights, just perfect for soup and sandwiches!  I'm a huge fan of Loaded Baked Potato soup and that means that I am also extremely picky about it, but Schwan's did not disappoint, it was rich and creamy and loaded with lots of potato goodness, it's quickly become one of my favorites and the fact that it was ready in no time, made it even better!  Since I started working nights (from home, which is another story in itself) it's been my husband's responsibility most nights to make dinner and while he can cook, his culinary repertoire is extremely limited (to say the least) so I'm constantly looking for quick, easy, and yummy standby's that he can turn to without much fuss; Schwan's New Grilled Cuban Style Panino and   New Grilled Southwest Style Chicken Panino turned out to be perfect.  My husband paired these yummy sandwiches with a side of Schwan's New Crispy Waffle Fries and it was a quick, easy dinner that everyone loved. 

While we were overall very pleased with the Schwan's All-Star Sandwich Bar products that we received, I want to point out one thing that we were a little disappointed in and that's the Panino sandwiches when they were cooked in the microwave.  The first time we cooked the sandwiches was in the microwave (following the directions of course) and they came out so hard that we couldn't cut into them, much less eat them.  The next time we tried them following the micro/oven cooking directions and they came out much better, so if you get these, my best advice would be not to cook them in the microwave.  Other than the microwave mishap, we loved all of the items from Schwan's and would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a yummy, hearty quick meal this Fall!

Killer Queen by Katy Perry {Win It}

We're big Katy Perry fans around here; my girls love her music and I love the positive, girl-power rich messages that her music promotes.  Since we're all such big fans, we naturally couldn't wait to try her latest fragrance, Killer Queen by Katy Perry.  We received Killer Queen by Katy Perry to review last week and my house has been filled with notes of Wild Berry, Red Velvet Flower and Natural Patchouli Heart, ever since.

When it comes to fragrance, I am extremely picky as many popular perfumes give me a killer headache after a while, thankfully, Killer Queen is not one of them--it smells amazing!  Of course, 30-something moms are probably not the demographic that the people behind Killer Queen are going after, so the real test was whether or not my two oldest daughters would like it as much as I do.

My daughters seem to have inherited my love of all things that smell fabulous and girly, because they are always using my perfume or stealing it altogether and Killer Queen was one that they instantly took to...like mother, like daughters I suppose.  When I asked my girls how they liked Killer Queen, their answers were simple, yet spoke volumes.  "It smells great and kind of makes you feel powerful, maybe it's the bottle.", said Drama Teen.  "I LOVE the bottle and the smell is strong and makes you think of something that somebody important, you know, like a queen or Katy Perry, would wear.  I like it.", was Sporty Spice's offering.  I must say, my girls are spot on with this one, I think the bottle is so unique and it instantly sparks conversation when someone sees it for the first time and it does have a strong (but not too strong and not at all in a bad way), bold fragrance, with a hint of sexy and daring...I think it's that combination that I appreciate most about Killer Queen.  If I were rating this fragrance among my favorites, I'd definitely say it's in the top ten, it's definitely one that all of you perfume loving ladies out there have to check out...I think you'll love it!

"The Little Mermaid" Diamond Edition Blue-Ray/DVD Hitting Homes October 1st {WIN IT)

I grew up watching (and pretending to be) most of the Disney Princesses and one of my absolute favorites has always been Ariel from "The Little Mermaid".  I mean, who wouldn't want to be a mermaid that also happens to be the sea king's daughter, live in the ocean and hang out with totally cool fish all day? 

Alright, obviously as an adult I don't still think it would be as cool to be a mermaid as I once thought, but I have a daughter who I see constantly reliving my childhood fantasies thanks to the Disney Princesses and none is more near and dear to her than Ariel.   Lil Diva will be overcome with excitement when come October 1, "The Little Mermaid" will be splashing its way into homes everywhere with its much anticipated debut on Diamond Edition Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, Digital Copy and HD and SD Digital formats!  Disney is also releasing a Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack that allows families to experience Ariel’s underwater adventures like never before in wondrously immersive 3-D. Judging by my last few posts, I seem to be all about snacking lately, I suppose that the start of another school year and the need for lots of afterschool snacks, has a little something to do with that.  While I'm definitely guilty of letting my kids indulge from time to time in snacks that might not be the best for them, I do always try to provide them with lots of healthy options as well and if those options can include snacks that they love, like Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers.

I'm very lucky in that my little ones love fruit, if given the choice between fruit and well, most things, they'd choose fruit nearly 100% of the time (score one for Mom) and they are huge fans of Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers.  Del Monte recently sent us a goodie bag filled with lots of Del Monte themed items (including some reusable shopping bags shaped like fruit), a Del Monte themed lunch tote and of course, some Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers--they were in heaven!
