This school year is kind of unique for our family;  four of the five children who live at our house full-time will be attending school this year, Lil Man will begin kindergarten as Sporty Spice starts Middle School and my step-son L  begins high school and to top if all off my husband will still be attending college—this Mom is going to be very busy!

With so much emphasis being put on computer assisted and online learning, it’s a necessity for our family to not only have a second computer, but for that computer to be the best of the best.  So, on a recent trip to Walmart I decided to spend a little time in the Electronics department checking out their selection of laptops and notebooks as well as their selection of printers and I have to say, I was very surprised by one notebook in particular, the DV-6 notebook from HP.

I have to admit, I’ve been a fan of HP for years, in addition to making computers and laptops (notebooks too) that are reasonably priced compared to some of their more pricey competitors, they’re also built to last and when I’m shelling out big bucks for a computer—staying power means everything.  Since we had some of the big kids with us at the store we decided to put the DV-6 to a little in-store test and we found lost to like about the sleek HP notebook; aside from its AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M accelerated processor, SuperMulti DVD burner and 15.6" HD BrightView LED-backlit display, the DV-6 also has Beats Audio,  which was a big hit with all of our kiddos during our impromptu in-store demo.  I have no doubt whatsoever, that the HP DV-6 notebook is exactly what we need to help keep up with the demands of school and work this coming year—Santa, I hope you’re reading this, because it sure would make things easier for mom!

Next up on our list of must-haves for the coming school year was a new printer, we have an all-in-one printer that works pretty well, but it’s massive—I’m talking huge—and though I love all of the features that it does have, the space that it takes up, is starting to become an issue.  Since we all loved the HP notebook, we decided to check out the HP printers and quickly fell in love with the HP Deskjet 3052a e-all-in-one printer.  In addition to having the ability to print, scan and copy like our current printer does, the Deskjet 3052a also has built-in wireless and is e-print capable via multiple devices and is Energy Star certified; if the e-print capabilities didn’t have my husband at hello, then the opportunity to save a little $ definitely did.  Seriously though, with the HP XL ink cartridges helping to save up to 40% on printing, the HP Deskjet 3052a looks like a clear winner…at least from my vantage point.

Our trip to the electronics department at Walmart left me wanting a new toy, I mean new notebook, even more than before and honestly, I’m glad that we took the time to do our homework and check out some of the latest offerings from one of our favorite brands.  Going in we had no clue whether we wanted a desktop or a notebook, which printer we preferred or even which brand to go with, but I feel like we have so much more information and a better understanding of our family’s needs and wants—it’s gonna take a while.
If your family is thinking of buying a computer or computer accessories in time for back-to-school, then I definitely suggest taking your time and giving them an in-store test drive before making your decision, you never know, you might just find your favorite new brand.

Since Walmart is definitely the place that I do all of my shopping, I always turn to them for the best back-to-school supplies at the lowest prices and now one very lucky reader is going to win a $25 Walmart gift card to help with back-to-school…who doesn’t love that!
