Every mom (and dad too for that matter) thinks her child is the cutest baby ever, but do pet parents think the same thing about their little four legged loves, and if so do they think their fur babies are cuter than our human babies?
I'll admit, I'm not much of a pet person; I do have a doggie named Brownie whom I love to pieces, but I don't get carried away with it. Some people however tend to take the pet thing a little too far, my neighbor (whom I love to pieces) has the cutest dog I've ever seen, but the dog can play piano and talk--that's a lil much for my liking, but hey, to each their own right. So I'm sure you're wondering why I'm even talking about pets and babies--right? I love this time of year; I’ve said that before haven’t I? Well, if I’ve said it a hundred times it’s because I do love the way that the chill in the air makes you long for nights spent inside with your family cuddled up beside a gorgeous fire!
When I was little I always longed to have a fireplace and though I had to wait a little longer than I would have liked, I finally got my wish when we moved into our current house this past March! I’ve been trying to get my husband to start a fire for weeks, but he insists on waiting until it gets COLD…brrr I’m not looking forward to that, but I am looking forward to a nice cozy fire and those fires will no doubt be started using Duraflame fire logs.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while then you know how much I adore the Rembrandt brand; I had the chance a couple of years ago to work with them on a review and I have been an avid Rembrandt user ever since. Not only do I love what their products do for my teeth, I think that they are one of the only whitening products that actually do what they claim to do…at least in my opinion!
With all of that said I was super excited when Rembrandt contacted me to do a review of their new Deeply White collection of products! I’ve used Rembrandt’s Intense Stain toothpaste exclusively for the past year and a half and love it so while I was excited to try another Rembrandt product I was also a little worried that I wouldn’t like it as much as the one I currently use. It turns out that I don’t like Deeply White Rembrandt that I used before—I love it!

Would you rather put holiday spending on your credit card or pay for it through a layaway program? Many Americans are opting for the latter, helping retrench these time-honored payment plans.
Walmart, Sears, Best Buy and TJ Maxx are just a few of the major merchants now offering layaway. In fact, Toys 'R Us has expanded its layaway program to include most toys, rather than just the big-ticket items.
Layaway nearly vanished before the recession, as credit card use grew in prominence. Stores preferred we swipe away because it was easier than handling all that paperwork. But with consumers leery of facing too much holiday debt -- and threatening to spend less this year in stores -- retailers began using layaway as a means of luring us back.
While this all sounds well and good, there are problems related to such programs. Here are a few "Do's" and "Don'ts" you should consider before making the leap.
DO
Do Dissect the Fine Print
You'll have to sign a contract or layaway initiation form, which naturally contains a lot of vital information you could easily overlook. Don't let a long line or impatient clerk rush you through checking each detail so you know what to expect.
Do Consider Whether it's Worth the Origination Fee
There's a fair amount of paperwork, processing and labor involved in layaway plans, so stores charge a start-up fee for each order. Consider the amount of that charge is worthwhile compared to the overall total of your purchase.
Do Decide if You Really Need This Item
Should something happen and you decide not to go through with all payments, you'll likely have to pay a fee of roughly 25 to 30 percent of the total price of the layaway plan. That's a hefty fine for changing your mind, so make sure you really want the item before placing it on layaway.
Do Compare all Fees vs. Credit Card Charges
Add up the potential costs and consider whether you'd be better off placing a purchase on a credit card. According to a New York Times op-ed by Cornell professor Louis Hyman, a typical shopper could wind up paying far less interest by using a credit card, even if it has a fairly high APR. Plus, a credit card gives you purchase protection and, with some companies, price protection.
DON'T
Don't Ignore the Internet
Don't let a sale combined with a layaway plan talk you into buying before researching your options. You'll often find better deals online and it's a lot easier to comparison shop with your mouse. Search for promo codes to use toward your coveted item, and then compare the total cost of the online purchase to what you'd ultimately pay by putting it on layaway.
Don't Neglect Your Expiration Date
There's a limit to how long Walmart will store your stuff. As with other stores, they want to move it before Christmas, so check to ensure you have enough time and cash to pay the entire debt off on time or you'll forfeit everything you've already paid. Mark that date on your calendar and make sure you make all payments before it hits.
Don't Forget About Automatic Withdrawals
Some merchants prefer to set-up automatic checking-account deductions, ostensibly to save you the hassle of coming in to make each payment. In actuality, it's just another way to make sure they get their money. Should one of those payments bounce, however, you'll be socked with a healthy overdraft fee from both the merchant and your bank. Once again, mark on your calendar the date each deduction will be made, so you can double check the balance in your account.
Don't Layway When You Can Pay
It's hard to part with cash during the holidays, when other expenses build up, but the fees you incur with a layaway plan aren't always worth it if you can pay cash now and avoid the hassle.

I don’t spend a lot of time talking about my husband Jamie here because well, he doesn’t really like it when I do that, so being the good wife that I am I try to comply with his wishes—keyword here is try people!
Jamie works for one of the biggest flavoring manufactures in the US, and while he loves his job and I love that he has a job that he loves I do not love the smells that follow him home! Since his company makes the flavoring for everything from Wrigley’s gum to dog food (yes people dog food, and you can imagine what that smells like) I never know what he’s going to smell like when he comes home every day. Needless to say I was his uniforms often—and lots of uniforms being washed means lots and lots of spray starch! And even though Jamie doesn’t mind the smell of dog food on his uniforms (how can he not) it drives him crazy if his uniforms aren’t crisp and perfect each and every morning—good thing I have lots of Niagara starch on hand!
Over the past three years I’ve gone through an array of spray starch brands trying to find one that worked for my husbands uniforms without irritating him (this is the reason he cannot have his uniforms laundered through his company) and when I found Niagara spray starch it did the job without the irritation and we have used it ever since!

A few weekends ago we celebrated Lil Diva’s 3rd birthday party; while it is amazing to see my baby girl grow up it was definitely a bittersweet celebration! Since refreshments are a must at every party I took great care to choose snacks that both the kids and adults in attendance would enjoy—and that definitely meant some Chex Mix!
Chex Mix has been a long-time go to snack in our family; my mom makes the traditional Chex Mix for nearly every together…and if we’re really good ( a lil mommy humor) she’ll mix up a batch of Muddy Buddy mix! When I decided to include Chex Mix in the festivities I wanted to do something a little outside the box and thanks to MyBlogSpark and Chex that was a breeze!
I recently had the opportunity to host a Chex Party Mix Change party, thanks to MyBlogSpark and Chex and I thought what better time to have some people over and share a little Chex Mix than Lil Diva’s birthday party—it was perfect timing for sure!
Since I’d never tried my hand at making Chex Mix before, yes, I’m the type of mom who buys the already made mix at the store, I was a little worried about how hard it would be and how good they would taste, but it turns out that I was worried for no reason at all because it was so simple! I chose four different Chex Mixes to make for our party; Traditional Chex Party Mix, Muddy Buddy Mix, Chili Garlic Chex Mix, and Chex Pumpkin Pie Crunch in honor of fall. Since I had never made any type of Chex Mix before I didn’t know how easy, or how difficult it would be, so I made sure to allow myself plenty of time before the party to whip up a few test batches—turns out I didn’t need them because they all came out perfect on the first try…seriously you cannot mess this up! Most of the people at the party had tried the Chex Traditional Party Mix and the Muddy Buddy mix, but no one had tried Chili Garlic and Pumpkin Pie Crunch varieties before and I loved being the first to introduce them! I expected everyone to like all of the different varieties of Chex Mix, but I never expected everyone to love them and everyone wanted the recipes and commented that they were definitely serving Chex Mix at their next together…score!
Our Chex Party Mix-Change party was a big success, everyone loved all of the different Chex Mix varieties and couldn’t wait to try them out themselves at home! Last week I lost my rings, well, I didn’t actually lose them, my son decided that it would be a great idea to try them on and he lost them—so not cool Lil Man! Thankfully I found them quickly and a crisis was averted, but it got me thinking about the very real possibility of my husband losing his wedding ring, because that’s just an accident waiting to happen.
Long story short this past summer my husband had to change his diet, more specifically what he drank (kidney stones are nothing to play around with) so he stopped drinking everything except for water—and he lost over 30 pounds. Ever since Jamie’s lost the weight he’s had a hard time keeping his wedding ring from falling off, which led me to look for a new ring for my hubby.
My husband’s current ring has never been one that he loved, it was more of a last minute “we’re getting married and I can’t get married with a ring” kind of decision that he has always detested so I figured that getting him a new ring instead of having his resized would be a good idea. I’ve looked at wedding rings for weeks now trying to find one that will withstand the type of punishment he’ll put it through and so far the tungsten carbide wedding ring that I found online is looking like the perfect choice! I love that they are made to withstand the punishment that men put them through while still looking stunning. My favorite is the gorgeous black ring below from MensTungstenOnline.com it’s rugged enough for the work that my hubby does, but still unique and absolutely gorgeous at the same time…it’s perfect!
Now to try to figure out my husband’s ring size without him knowing it (I want to give the ring to him as a gift for Christmas) that’s going to take a little bit of skill on my part!
