This past weekend my house was THE party pad! No, my husband and I didn’t throw some wild, crazy shindig, hmm come to think of it, it was kinda wild and crazy, but not in the way you’re thinking. So what kind of party did we throw? A Pampered Hamster party compliments of Zhu Zhu Pets and Mom Select!

My daughter Nay Nay and a few of her friends got to play with some of the very charming and oh-so-cute Zhu Zhu Pets Rock Star Hamsters and the ultra chic and sassy Zhu Zhu Pets Beauty Salon! The girls also got to check out (and deck their Zhu Zhu’s out in) some of the latest Zhu Zhu pets Fall Outfits (which, truth be told, couldn’t be cuter). As soon as the girlies came into the room their eyes glazed over at all of the Zhu Zhu goodness! When the task of choosing who got what Zhu Zhu (and that wasn’t an easy task) the girls got down to work choosing and swapping outfits and arguing, I mean discussing who would get the 2 Zhu Zhu pets Deluxe Fashion Carriers. Once all of the swapping, trying on, and disusing was finished the girl were eager to play with the Zhu Zhu Pets Beauty Salon!

I have to admit that I am NOT usually the one putting things together, but I tackled the Zhu Zhu Pets Salon on my own (yay me) and it wasn’t that awful lol. Putting the salon together let me get a first hand look at how it all works and how awesome it truly is. The Zhu Zhu Pets Beauty Salon features lighted mirrors, and a Zhu Zhu powered hair dryer fan! The girls really seemed to get a kick out of the Rock Stars making the hair dryer work and even argued about whose pet would get to go first! It was SO much fun for the girls and I cannot count the times Nay Nay asked for more Zhu Zhu Pet Rock Star’s for Christmas!
All of the girls had a great time and wanted me to thank Zhu Zhu and Mom Select for hooking them up with “all of the awesome stuff”!
The holiday season is without a doubt the most wonderful time of the year (love that song), and it’s also one of the most stressful! Around this time every year I can start to feel the tension in my neck and back brought on by the magical holiday season (if it were really magical Santa would get me a GC to my local salon *wink* *wink*). I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to do a review for Dremel, as part of that review I received a Dremel Trio Tool Kit. With all of the toy ads on television it is so hard to sift through the “I Wants” and “Mommy Can I haves?” to find toys that are well-made, quality toys for my kids. I think there is definitely something to be said for toys that are natural, recycled, and made in the USA…not only do they seem to be better made and last longer, they also seem to be among my children’s favorite toys.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank all of my amazing readers for helping make Misadventures in Baby Raising possible! We’ve been steadily growing our readership for the past 2 years (yes my 2nd Bloggy Birthday was on November 13th…I figure my blog, much like me would rather keep it on the DL) and I couldn’t have done it without all of you who come here day after day and supporting me…so I want to tell all of you from the bottom of my heart…THANK YOU!

The older my children get the harder it is to find age appropriate holiday gifts for them. Between the outrageously expensive requests I receive from my oldest daughter (yea right, like an iPad for my 11 year old is ever gonna happen) and the knowledge that I must step up my game and cough up a lot more money with 3 tweens to buy for this Christmas I don’t have a prayer. Since I can’t really afford to go buy iPads for 3 kids the sensible mom in me takes over and I go on the hunt for awesome, unique, and most importantly “Tween Trio Approved” gifts for Christmas.
One of the very first companies I came across in my quest for tween/teen appropriate gifts was Road Rage Jewelry. Now just hearing the name invokes images of crazy drivers and major traffic headaches, but this kind of Road Rage is a good kind and something you definitely want to know about…especially if you have tweens or teens. Road Rage Jewelry was born out of creator and designer Jeanne Koesters’ early morning road rage experience, as Jeanne drove along she noticed different road signs and the colors and shapes and decided that Road Rage didn’t have to be a bad thing!

We received a necklace (from the aptly titled Street Series) as well as 3 different charms (LOL, stop sign, and SUP). As soon as I opened the package and saw the necklace and charms I knew that Road Rage Jewelry was going to be a huge hit with the tween/teen crowd. My kids are obsessed with jewelry and my oldest daughter couldn’t wait to show it off to all of her friends. Knowing that I found a company that she likes takes some of the pressure to find “cool gifts mom…gah” (kid you not those are here words) off of this mommy.

I am always so fascinated by people from other countries; their stories, their culture, and their lives in general are so interesting and full of wonder. It’s not often that I get to do a review (and giveaway…just wait that’s coming) where the story behind the product is just as fascinating as the product itself, but when I do it gives this job a whole new sense of adventure.I had heard about NOVICA through different bloggers and had even read some of their reviews, but it wasn’t until I had the chance to do a review with them that I realized what they were all about. NOVICA is a very unique global platform where artists and artisans from around the world can express and share their creativity and art with the world. NOVICA also provides consumers with unique, hard to find, amazing pieces and even better values thanks to its internet infrastructure. Here’s a little more about NOVICA from their website:

I love the idea of being able to support artists from all over the globe in a way that before was only possible by visiting the artist’s country. NOVICA artists and artisans are able to list their items without fees and are in full control of every aspect of the items they have listed, they can raise or lower their prices or even remove them from the site completely, the power is left completely up to the artists.
Wondering where NOVICA’s very unique name comes from?

Recently I was given the opportunity to do a review for NOVICA and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. As I browsed the pages and artists and pieces that make up the NOVICA website I found myself in awe of the brilliant artists and artisans and their spectacular items. What I could have swore was only a few minutes of looking turned out to be over an hour, but with so many things to look at and stories to read NOVICA is too interesting not to take your time. I finally settled on two different items for my review from two very different parts of the world.
The first item I chose to review was a gorgeous pair of earrings from Thailand. The earrings (called Energy) are sterling silver drop earrings are hand crafted in Thailand by an amazing artist named Jantana or Na for short. The tradition of making silver jewelry is one that Jantana’s parents (retired jewelers) passed on to her and her siblings. Jantana and her husband now employee 12 silversmiths who work side by side with them to create all of the phenomenal pieces carried on NOVICA’s website! I can’t say enough good things about the earrings, they are exquisite and I have received so many compliments on them followed very quickly with a lot of, “where did you get them?”. Jantana has an amazing collection of jewelry pieces on the NOVICA website so make sure you check her out…her jewelry would make a great holiday gift for any lucky lady on your gift list!
The second item I received from NOVICA were a set of 4 hand-blown Cobalt Spiral shot glasses from Mexico. My husband Jamie always complains (on that rare occasion that we drink, you know…New Year’s Eve) that he doesn’t have any shot glasses…well problem solved. Though these shot glasses are not your average run of the mill shot glasses, not by a long shot! The Cobalt Spiral shot glasses that I received are hand-blown using a technique that artists Javier and Efrén have perfected. “Their crystalline depths are encircled with fluid spirals, and crowned by cobalt rims. Perfect for parties, they complement other works by the artisans.” Javier and Efrén and their amazing peices have been featured in a array of magazines including the Sunset magazine to the Miami Herald. “Since the 1990s, Javier Gutiérrez and Efrén Canteras have worked together to preserve Mexico's blown glass artistry. "This type of work is a beautiful craft. I love blown glass because of the pure imagination poured into every piece created," confides Efrén. “ The shot glasses are absolutely amazing, from their smooth, cold exterior to the tiny bubbles ( a result of hand-blowing) that make them one of a kind! These shot glasses (or any of Javier and Efrén’s items) are the perfect gift idea for any man (or woman) on your holiday gift list!
