Everything sounds better when it’s written in French…no?  For some things however, being French in origin is only one of the many things about it that’s cool and that’s definitely the case with Le Couvent des Minimes.  I really like the company as a whole simply because it focuses on all natural, simple, authentic skincare and body products that are rich in the centuries old monastic tradition.  Because sometimes the stories behind the brands I write about are just as interesting as the  products they create, I wanted to share with all of you the story behind Le Couvent des Minimes.

400 years ago, a convent was built in the village of Mane in the South of France to shelter the botanist monks of the Minims, who used their considerable knowledge of plants to tend a garden of curative herbs and flowers.  Centuries later, the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary continued the original convention of cultivating beneficial ingredients to help strengthen and restore those in need through food recipes. The sisters used the power of plants to nourish and heal their community, restoring well-being in a spirit of generosity. This emphasis on nourishing care through nature inspired Le Couvent des Minimes’ own simple yet powerful natural fragrance and skincare recipes, the basis of a collection of efficacious formulas that draw on the heritage and traditions of the convent of Mane.

Le Couvent des Minimes

Every recipe combines proven natural ingredients and is inspired by ancestral traditions to deliver modern benefits. From skincare to bath and body to fragrance, each formula is crafted using age-old phytotherapy and aromatherapy practices honed over centuries, blending effective and pleasurable ingredients to nourish and replenish. Le Couvent des Minimes recipes combine ingredients like floral waters and nutrient-rich plant extracts that have an inherent affinity with the skin for naturally efficacious products.

I recently had the chance to check out a couple of the wonderful products from Le Couvent des Minimes and I couldn’t have been more excited and more thrilled with the results.  I received the Hikers Foot Healer and the Eau des Minimes Botanical Fragrance last week from Le Couvent des Minimes.

Hiker’s Foot Healer:  Recover from a long day or help give your feet the extra relaxation and pampering that they need with this original recipe of nine beneficial plants that combine to nourish, soften, and soothe hot, tired, dry feet.  The all-in-one foot healer includes Borage Oil (traditionally used to treat skin disorders—eczema, dermatitis, etc.), Shea Butter (known for its moisturizing ability) and Grapeseed Oil that combine to nourish and repair, alongside Wintergreen (to soften) and Ivy to improve microcirculation.  Hiker’s Foot Healer is available in a 2.6 oz tube for $19.

Eau des Minimes Botanical Fragrance:  In addition to smelling amazing, this fragrance refreshes the senses and boosts your mood with fresh, sparkling citrus notes of lemon, blood oranges and grapefruit as well as seven plants selected for their beneficial properties.

As someone who tries to buy natural products as often as I can, I set high standards for Le Couvent des Minimes and I’m happy  to report that they exceeded my expectations of them.  The Eau des Minimes fragrance smells incredible and the Hiker’s Foot Healer has helped to make my feet softer than they’ve ever been before.  Le Couvent des Minimes also has a wide variety of beauty and skincare products to make you look and feel as amazing as the story behind the brand, I definitely recommend that you check them out for all of your skincare and beauty needs!

Disclosure:  I received the products mentioned above in order to facilitate my review…all opinions are 100% my own!
