Kroger Cart Buster Savings Event (+ GC Giveaway)

If there’s one thing that I dread doing every week it’s going to the grocery store, not only do my children act like wild banshees when in public, I also end up playing “Let’s NOT Have a Heart Attack” when the cashier tells me my total.  If you’re like me, saving money on your grocery bill is a definite priority and there’s no better place to save money than Kroger during their Cart Buster Savings Event

From February 27th through March 12th, shop Kroger’s biggest-ever promotion and find the hottest prices around on more than 35 brands, across more than 60 categories from General Mills, P & G, Nestle, Pepsi and Kroger Banner Brands. During the Cart Buster Savings Event, you’ll find great savings in almost every department at the Kroger Family of Stores, which includes Kroger, Ralph’s, King Soopers, City Market, Dillons, Smith’s, Fry’s, QFC, Baker’s, Owen’s, Jay C Food Stores, Hilander, Gerbes, Food4Less, Pay Less Super Markets and Scott’s Food & Pharmacy.

Here are just a handful of the great brands participating in the event: Multigrain Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Hamburger Helper, Yoplait, Progresso, Totino’s, Green Giant, Cascadian Farm, Tide, Charmin, Bounty, Pampers, Pantene, Crest, Iams, Febreze, Old Spice, Bounce, DiGiorno’s, Nestle Toll House, Juicy Juice, Coffee-Mate, Edy’s, Stouffer’s, Lean Cuisine, Hot Pockets, Nestle Candy, Purina and many more!

Looking for even more ways to add money to your pocket? Visit Kroger.com/CartBuster to participate in their “Deal of the Day” promotion! During each day of Kroger’s Cart Buster Savings Event, be one of the first 1000 people to click on the deal link and receive a free load-to-card coupon for the featured daily item.

I decided to head out to Kroger this past weekend and see how much money I could save and how many great deals I could find.  I make it a habit to NOT use coupons as I find that when I do I only end up buying things that I normally would not and that makes my grocery bill bigger, so I love it when Kroger has great savings on so many brands and so many products that I already use…it makes my grocery bill shrink and my wallet (and husband) smile!  Needless to say my grocery bill on my last trip to Kroger was greatly reduced and enough money left over to buy a new handbag ( I have a bit of a problem with handbags).

Would you like to try your hand at the Cart Buster Savings Event and see how much money you can save?  I thought you might!  Details on how you can snag a $25 gift card to the Kroger family of stores are below!

Managing the Family Finances…The Easy Way!

Thank you to TurboTax for sponsoring my writing about household finances.Learn more about how TurboTax can help you find every tax deduction you deserve. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

This time of year with tax season rearing it’s frustrating head I always start to think about our finances and how my husband and I can work at managing them in a smarter way.  As it stands currently my husband and I share the responsibility of managing our family’s finances and that works great for us.  My husband is responsible for seeing that the house payment is paid, the utility bills are under control, and that we keep continuous insurance coverage.  My responsibilities (which are admittedly much less stressful) include household expenses like groceries, toiletries, laundry necessities,  I also handle all school and extracurricular activity fees, equipment, trips, etc..

While our system works well for us I know that it wouldn’t work for everyone.  In my previous marriage I let my husband take care of all of the bills and he usually forgot to pay something every single month, he also handled the household and school and wasn’t always on top of things.  Over the years I’ve been given so many tips on how to manage my finances successfully and though most have proven to be more of a hassle than a help there are some that have actually made managing our finances easier and I wanted to share them with all of you.

One thing you may not know about me is how I obsessed I am with order, I cannot stand for things to be scattered about and out of place.  My obsession with order is very helpful when it comes to managing our finances better and the number one way it helps is that I make printable monthly spreadsheets.  I make sure that the spreadsheets have enough columns and rows to list all of our income for the month and all of our expenses as well as totals for the month and how much we’ve managed to save.  this helps us tremendously by allowing us to see at a glance how much money we;’re bring in, how much money we have going out, and how much money we are saving.  It also makes it easier for us to identify areas where we could cut back to help save more.

Another thing that we do that really helps us save more and more money each month is cutting out fast food, which is a HUGE money magnet if you eat out often.  By eating at home we’re saving more money and spending more quality time at the dinner table!

I hope that my tips have inspired you to find new and creative ways for your family to help manage finances smarter and easier!  Here’s to saving lots of money in 2011!

I’m Moving…Someone Kill Me Now!

I’ve been a bad blogger this week!  I’m in the middle of packing everything I own neatly into boxes, all labeled and stacked according to room (though honestly that’s probably a big waste of my time since I already know that my husband will just stack them all in the entryway and expect me to move them into their respective rooms).  So as I’m sure you’ve gathered…I’m moving!  image

As excited as I am to be moving into a bigger house (something that has been needed for some time now) I am equally dreading this weekend.  I’ve escaped all of the physical labor of our last two moves because I was pregnant and since I’ve refused to allow that to happen again (the pregnancy that is Smile)   I ‘m not getting out of this one and I a NOT excited about it.  At this point in the move most of the house has been emptied of it’s former contents and has been replaced by a bunch of boxes, that makes my anxiety level rise as I cannot stand chaos and disorder, both of which are present and accounted for here at the moment.  I know that I will be so happy after this weekend and so much less stressed so I hope to be back to blogging regularly by Monday (fingers crossed).  I’ve got so many great things to post about after the move is over, including taking you on a tour of our new house and lots of pictures of Before and After room makeovers…I AM excited about that part!

So I hope that y’all won’t miss me too much over the next few days, but trust me when I say that I’ll miss all y’all…I’m going to hate my life until this move is over!

Be back soon with lots of fun stuff!

Big G and Hot Wheels (+Giveaway)

Remember playing with Hot Wheels as a kid?  Some of my fondest memories from my childhood are of days spent playing outside with my cousin Jeremy making dirt roads to roll our Hot Wheels around on…those were the days!  Now as I sit and watch my son and daughter playing with their Hot Wheels it brings back amazing memories of good days gone by.  I can’t tell you how awesome it is to see Big G cereals teaming up with Hot Wheels to bring a little fun and a whole lot of memories to our breakfast table!  General Mills logo

“Starting January 24th, inside each participating cereal box (Cheerios® 14 oz, Cinnamon Toast Crunch® 17 oz, Lucky Charms® 16 oz, Reese’s Puffs® 18 oz, and Cookie Crisp® 15.6 oz), you’ll be able to “gas and go” with one of four custom-designed collectable Hot Wheels® pullback racers. Each car contains a code to unlock an exciting online racing game.

When it comes to meals, breakfast is important in helping kids fuel up for the day and Big G cereals provides a healthy breakfast choice for parents to offer their families. You can feel good about giving your kids a bowl of Big G cereal and they’ll be thanking you for a breakfast that is as tasty as it is fun!”

How fun is that?  Aside from Big G cereals being some of our favorites (I mean come on they make Lucky Charms…enough said) I think it’s just the coolest thing ever that I can, I mean my son can open up his box of cereal and find an extra special Hot Wheels treat!  Not only did my kids have a blast easting all of the Big G cereal we received (and ALL of the Lucky Charms before I got any I might add) they loved playing with their pullback racers even more.  And I ‘d be a little bit of a liar if I said that I didn’t participate in a few races myself, hey someone had to show them how it’s done…right?

Anyway make sure you check out specially marked boxes of Big G cereal to find your special Hot Wheels pullback racer…and take to the kitchen floor and race with them…you’ll be amazed at the memories it brings back!image

Now how would you like to win a “Big G Hot Wheels” gift pack?  I thought so.  Details on how to win are below!

Win it!

To enter this giveaway please leave a comment telling me which of the 5 Big G cereals listed above is your (or your child’s) favorite!  This is mandatory and must be completed before any extra entries are allowed!

Meet the Cisco Valet

imageLately I’ve been having nothing but issues with my internet connection.   Our internet service provider (or as I like to call it my link to the outside world) has not been living up to their end of the bargain and I as a mindful consumer would like to take half that mind and tell them what I really think of them, but I digress.   2 modems, 3 routers, and 3 technicians later I found out it was the wireless routers causing the problem so I decided I had, had enough and began to explore my options as far as wireless routers go, that’s when I discovered the Cisco Valet and believe me when I say that it wasn’t a moment too soon.

If you’ve never heard of the Valet and you have a wireless router that is not always dependable you will want to pay attention to this review and hopefully save yourself some time, money, and trouble by checking them out!  First before I get to what the Cisco Valet is all about, did you know that if you have a wireless router from your cable/internet company you’re paying for it…monthly?  Yes, and if you have your own it’s yours no crazy monthly charges for equipment that doesn’t always work, or that doesn’t work at all which seemed to be my case.  Now on to what the Valet is and why you should check them out!Cisco Valet

The Cisco Valet (and the Cisco Valet Plus) are wireless routers that are “surprisingly simple”, easy to install, and bring you a reliable internet connection!  Easy 3 step installation (plug in, connect, and enjoy), the ability to instantly add all of your  wireless devices, and the security and peace of mind that come with Cisco security are only just a few of the many reasons the Valet is a great addition to  for your family.  Here are some of the other reasons to try the Valet by Cisco…

*  Unbeatable speed and range of Wireless (speeds up to 300 Mbps)

*  Automatic security (protect your network with integrated firewall protection and WPA encryption

*  Enhanced parental controls (you can block access times or websites for each connected device…big plus)

*  Instant guest access (separate guest network provides privacy and makes it easy for your guests to connect wirelessly)

*  24/7 Award Winning Phone support (you get one full year of customer support with your Valet purchase)

set_BGbtm1set_BGbtm2set_BGbtm3

As I mentioned above I had been having serious connection issues with my wireless internet, from the wireless going in and out to the router not working at all so I was ready to try anything to ensure I had and kept wireless access.  When I received the Cisco Valet I was very excited (seeing how I had already been through 3 routers in as many months) and more than ready to give it a try.  Installation really was as simple as plugging in and connecting and the user interface is simple and very easy to use.  The big test however is would my wireless stay connected and not freak out of me when I needed it most?  The answer…YES!  I really couldn’t believe that having a wireless internet connection could be as simple as having a good router, but that definitely is the case.  Since using the Valet I’ve had no more issues with connectivity and I am more than happy with the product.  I was equally as happy handing the cable company’s useless router back to them and knowing that I’m saving a little money on my cable bill is just icing on the cake!

Make sure you check out Cisco’s Valet product line and be sure to check them out on Facebook where you can enter to win a personal assistant for 6 months…YES you heard that right…someone to do all your dirty work for 6 glorious months…on Cisco!  You can check out the details or the contest (and enter it of course) on the Cisco Valet Facebook Fan Page

The Valet and Valet Plus can be purchased online and in most retailers nationwide!

*I was sent the above mentioned product by either the company or PR representing the company, all opinions are my own and not influenced by monetary gain*

Snazzy Lites Colorful Clip in Hair Extensions (Giveaway)

My oldest daughter is hitting her pre-teen "I wanna be a grown up NOW" stage and I do.not.like.it!  Every other day she asks, no begs me to let her dye her hair red (to quote Alicia Silverstone..."As if!") and every other day I spend at least 15 minutes explaining to her why Rhianna's red hair is NOT a good look for an 11 year old.  Needless to say this argument remains unsettled and I am holding firm to my "Just Say No to Red Hair" stance!

A few weeks ago I was introduced to a product that may just put an end to my daughter's constant begging for her hair to be dyed...Snazzy Lites.  If you have a tween/teen in your house you are going to want to pay attention to this review!

From the Snazzy Lites website...

Snazzy Lites are a fun, fast, and non-damaging way to add a dash of color or natural highlights to anyone's hair.  They are made of 100% human hair extensions so they can be curled, flat ironed or braided like natural hair. Choose from a variety of colors like fierce fuchsia, rebel red, or poetic purple.

Snazzy Lites clip-in hair extensions are easy to apply and remove providing instant color without the commitment.

Wear Snazzy Lites to support your favorite sports team, sororities, or non-profit organizations. Great for cheerleaders, birthday parties, dance teams, or just to change your look.

We received a couple Snazzy Lites (no red though lol) to review Blissful Blue and Playful Pink and my girls were very excited to try them!  Before I get to what my girls thought about Snazzy Lites I have to share with you why I really do love this product!

First and foremost Snazzy Lites seem to have calmed my daughter's frantic begging for her hair to be dyed and that in itself is reason enough for me to sing their praises!  I also love that Snazzy Lites are made from human hair and that they are very easy to attach and remove...a definite plus!  I have to admit, the temptation to snap a Snazzy Lite in my hair was a little too much so I did it...and love it!

My girls loved Snazzy Lites from the time they took them out of the packages.  My oldest daughter said that she liked the fact that she could change looks to match her outfits and moods.  She also loves that since Snazzy Lites are human hair they can be flat ironed, curled, braided...anything you can do to human hair you can do with Snazzy Lites.  Both of my girls loved that they could clip in one of the Snazzy Lites (in their school colors) and wear it to school on Spirit Day or any day just to show school spirit!

Snazzy Lites are fun, easy, and most of all stylish...and I couldn't imagine a tween or teen around who wouldn't think the same!  Make sure you check out Snazzy Lites on their website  and pick up a couple for yourself (they are great for showing team spirir whether setting in the bleachers or being on the field) and for the girls in your life!

Now I have a special treat...2 MIBR readers are going to WIN some Snazzy Lites!  The 1st place winner will receive 4 Snazzy Lites clip-in hair extensions and the 2nd place winner will receive 2 Snazzy Lites!  Details about how to enter below!

Win it!

Need Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas? Try Pure Romance! (+Giveaway)

Pure Romance LogoWith Valentine’s Day just a few days away time to find the perfect gift is running out!  Lucky for you I’ve got the hookup on all of the best V-Day gift ideas including today’s pick…Pure Romance!

Before I get started I do want to say that this is NOT a child friendly post, so if you have little ones in the room you may want to have them leave the room before you continue!

Alright I assume all little ones are safely away from the computer and we can get down to business and I can tell you all about Pure Romance and why you should seriously check them out!

About Pure Romance

Patty Brisben, the founder of Pure Romance, started the company in 1993 to empower, educate, and entertain women. Since then, the company has grown to over 70,000 product consultants who live the company’s mission each and every day.

Empowerment: This jobless recovery is taking its toll on families, however very often our Pure Romance consultants report that they are meeting or exceeding their income expectations. Sales have been recession-resistant. Pure Romance experienced a 37% increase in sales in 2010. Pure Romance also empowers women because they are able to take control of their sex lives, which can have an impact on quality of life.

Education: Pure Romance products resonate with women unlike any other in the category due to our commitment to educating women about their bodies and our products. The Pure Romance partnership with the Kinsey Institute, coupled with our curriculum developed by our Director of Sexual Health Education, means our 70,000 consultants are trained to provide the most helpful information and advice. Pure Romance doesn’t sell in stores because in-home parties offer women fun, private, peer-to-peer learning opportunities about romance, intimacy and sex.

Entertainment: Whether it’s the fun and camaraderie of the Pure Romance parties themselves, the use of Pure Romance products by a woman, or a couple’s inventive Pure Romance fun, entertainment is at the core of the company’s mission.

I love Pure Romance’s commitment to empowering women, so I was more than happy to review a few of their products. As I mentioned above, I received several Pure Romance products to review, but I haven’t had a chance to use them all yet, hey gotta save something for Valentine’s Day right?, but I do want to share with you all a couple of my favorites so far!

7th Heaven…the name says it all!  If you know what a bullet is then you know why I love this one!  The 7th Heaven Bullet is a favorite among women (for pretty obvious reasons) and is known to cause a definite earth moving experience!  With 7 speeds and and levels of intensity and vibration this bullet is one that you need to have in your arsenal.  Now I love bullets and have owned many, but for the price ($28) and performance this one is an excellent addition to your ‘toy” drawer!  I mean let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want  to have a heavenly experience?  Enough said!

Another favorite of mine is the Mini Nights of Passion collection.  Included in the Mini Nights of Passion kit is a mini bottle of Aura (massage oil), Ex-T-Cee (whose name pretty much implies what this product can do…Ex-T-Cee is a flavored arousal cream for women), Excape (pheromone-infused shower/bath gel), Sensations (a spicy warming lubricant), and Sweet Seduction (a  silky, slippery, water based lubricant that will get you ready for whatever the night holds).  I love this kit because it;’s mini versions of each product, not only does it allow you to try one or all of the products in a sample size to see which you like and which you can do without, it’s also the perfect size to throw in your suitcase for a weekend away with your someone special!  My favorite product from the Mini Nights of Pleasure collection?  Excape…it really does just relax your mind, body, and spirit, whether your unwinding from a long day or relaxing before some alone time with your guy!

So, now that I’ve given you a glimpse into the world that is Pure Romance, and hopefully given you some great V-Day (or anniversary, or honeymoon) gift ideas it’s time for a little surprise for you, my lovely readers…oh come on y’all didn’t think I was going to leave you empty handed did you?

SouthLand on TNT (+Giveaway)

I’m going to continue on with my DVD posts because, well, I want to!  How many of y’all like police drama’s?  I know that I’m all in when I watch them and some of my favorites are on TNT including SouthLand!  Lucky for me (and all of the other SouthLand fans) SouthLand has returned to TNT on Tuesdays 10/9 c.  Not familiar with SouthLand?  That’s cool you can find out what it’s all about below…and find out how you can win the SouthLand Season 1 DVD!

“From Emmy Award winners John Wells, Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack comes a raw and authentic look at a police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, "Southland" is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Michael Cudlitz ("A River Runs Through It") plays John Cooper a seasoned Los Angeles cop, assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie, "The O.C."). Cooper's honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer.

Cudlitz and McKenzie are joined by other cast members, including Regina King ("Ray," “Jerry Maguire”), who plays Detective Lydia Adams. Adams lives with and is the primary caregiver of her mother. Her partner, Detective Russell Clarke (Tom Everett Scott, "Boiler Room") is an unhappily married father of three. Michael McGrady ("The Thin Red Line") plays Detective Daniel "Sal" Salinger. Sal oversees fellow gang detectives Nate Moretta (Kevin Alejandro, "Drive," "Ugly Betty") and Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy, "Alpha Dog"). Arija Bareikis (“Crossing Jordan”) plays patrol officer Chickie Brown, a single mom who dreams of being the first woman accepted into SWAT.”

How’s that for drama!?!  Now I have the complete 1st season of SouthLand on DVD to give away to one very lucky MIBR reader!  Find out how below!
