Holiday Gift Guide: Custard ‘n Jelly Guardian Angel Dolls (Win It!)

I’ve always thought that children were the smartest people on the planet (I mean come on, we can’t give our bosses that sad puppy dog face when we show up late to work and get away with it—right?) but when I see a child create a business—an amazing business at that—I’m just assured in the fact that I was 100% correct in my assumption!

 

I was recently introduced to an amazing company—Custard ‘n Jelly—that I am truly honored to introduce to you all!  Custard ‘n Jelly is amazing for several reasons, but at the top of that list is the fact that it was the brainchild of—well, a child! 

 

Meet Ally:

 

Hi. I’m Ally. I’m the kid who drew the pictures of the guardian angels. I got the idea because my mom told me that my grampa is my guardian angel. I thought it would be cool if all kids had a guardian angel, and so my mom, my dad and I began this company.

We wanted to come up with a fun name that kids would like and that was fun to say. We went through a LOT of names with the word ‘angel’ in it, but ‘angel’ was in a bunch of other company names. Since I’m part Italian, we thought we’d look into Italian. We discovered that ‘guardian angel’ in Italian is ‘custodi angeli’. Custard ‘n Jelly was born!

Starting a business has been a great learning experience and so I started a blog about the step by step process.

 

It’s impossible to read that without being impressed—this kid is amazing and doing great things!  As soon as I heard the story behind Custard ‘n Jelly’s guardian angel dolls I fell instantly in love with the company, but there are so many reasons why I love this company that I’m not really sure where to start.  I guess I will start by saying that I appreciate the fact that the Custard ‘n Jelly dolls are multicultural—it’s refreshing to see anyone, let alone a child, get how important and special all cultures are!  Each Custard ‘n Jelly guardian angel also comes complete with a special skill and a story behind how she received her wings—one of the guardian angel dolls—Roxy—can form any object from the clouds and she earned her wings by showing others that that facing our fears makes us strong and able to do anything.  I am also beyond impressed that Custard ‘n Jelly creator, Ally, is so involved in helping others and making sure that she teaches other kids how important it is to help each other!  “When a child receives an angel, they will get a special code that they will use to register their angel. When they do, Custard 'n Jelly will donate a portion of the purchase to a children's charity... and the child gets to choose which one.”

We were sent one of the guardian angel dolls (Ally, the first doll in the collection and also the creator’s namesake) from Custard ‘n Jelly to review and include in our holiday gift guide and from the moment I opened the package and saw the doll I knew that it was special!  I choose Ally because Allie has been my nickname since I was little and I thought that Lil Diva would get a kick out of having a doll with the same name as Mommy.  Aside from the fact that Ally is absolutely precious she’s also soft and the perfect size for Lil Diva to tote around—everywhere!  Ally’s special skill is also very charming (she can connect the night stars into any object) and the story behind her earning her wings is one that I strive to always teach my children, especially my daughters( Ally earned her wings by teaching that believing in yourself is the key to making dreams come true).  Ally may be my favorite, but all of the dolls has her own unique look, skill, and story—and collecting the whole set is definitely something I want to do for Lil Diva!  And can I also just say that there’s something special about knowing that through Ally Lil Diva will have her own special lil’ guardian angel extra close at all times—I love that!
