Having four children, three of which are in school, the topic of bullying and ultimately bully prevention, comes up quite often.  I'm lucky in that, for the most part, my children haven't dealt with much bullying and aside from the occasional run-ins with some kids at school, they've managed to make it thus far in school without much incident.  While my children may not deal with being bullied themselves very often, I do make it a point to discuss with them my expectations for them with regard to how they treat others, in our house, there's a strict Zero Tolerance Policy in place for bullying and we enforce it to the letter.

I love companies who do their part to make children's lives better and I've worked with a number of great ones lately and I'm happy to add Green Giant and their Raise a Giant campaign to that list.

About Green Giant's Raise a Giant Initiative.

At Green Giant® we know it takes a lot more to raise a healthy child then just getting them to eat their vegetables. Kids these days live in a world that is bigger and scarier than the world we grew up in, and they need help and encouragement to navigate that world with confidence and pride.
Unfortunately one of the hardest things kids have to deal with is bullying. When a child is bullied by a peer it can turn his or her life into a daily gauntlet of fear and anxiety.
That’s why Green Giant® is partnering with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and We Day Minnesota to help parents Raise A Giant and put a stop to bullying in their community.

What Does it Mean To Be A Giant?
Being a giant isn’t about being the biggest or the best. Being a giant means standing up for others. It means lending a hand to those who are in trouble and speaking up for those who sometimes find it hard to speak up for themselves.
Studies show that an effective way to stop bullying is for kids to simply speak up and say, “That’s not okay” when they see bullying happening.
But asking kids to have the courage to stand up to bullying is a tall order and that’s why they need our help.
How Do You Raise A Giant?
We’re asking parents to write a letter to their kids telling them how special they are and encouraging them to be part of the bullying prevention solution by being a giant.
To get started parents can visit our community at RaiseaGiant.com and read the letters others have written.
We Are Proud To Partner With:PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center
- Green Giant is partnering with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center to develop The We Will Generation, an in-school student-to-student curriculum helping students understand how they can handle bullying.
- This partnership enables us to help those impacted directly by bullying – students
I took the time to write each one of my children a letter letting that know how proud I am of them for always standing up for and speaking up against bullying.  I know that it may not always be as easy as writing a letter to get through to them, but I honestly believe that the simple act of letting them know in writing, not only how proud I am of them, but how important it is to be the voice for those who can't speak for themselves, will go a long way.  I encourage each of you to write a letter to your child(ren) letting them know how proud you are of them and how important it is for them to be a giant!
For this campaign a $25 donation was made in my name to the Pacer’s Center for Bully Prevention and I can't think of a better incentive to be part of a campaign!
WIN IT!

My kids eat…a lot.  And if there’s one thing they eat more of than anything else, it’s cereal.  Not only do my kiddos enjoy a big ole bowl of crunchy cereal goodness every morning (and more often than not as a bedtime snack), but my husband is also a huge cereal fanatic.  It seems like I’m constantly buying cereal and we’re always trying something new, like recently when we had the chance to check out Hershey’s new Cookies ‘n’ Crème cereal thanks to Hershey’s and MyBlogSpark!

hershey's-cookies-n-creme-cereal
I’m not a huge cereal fan, but I do love me some Hershey’s so I was interested to see what this new cookies ‘n’ crème cereal was all about, here’s the scoop (haha) on Big G and  Hershey’s new breakfast offering…

Now you can enjoy the delicious taste of Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme in a breakfast cereal from Big G.
With an irresistible taste the whole family will love from a brand you trust, new Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme cereal is made from 100% whole grains with at least 14g of whole grain per serving (at least 48g recommended daily). Best of all, Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme cereal has only 9 grams of sugar per serving and is a good source of Calcium, Vitamin D, and 10 other essential vitamins and minerals.

Who knew yummy could also be full of so many good things for you?  As I mentioned above, my children and husband love cereal and since they do love their cereal, they’re also a little picky when it comes to what they pour into their favorite cereal bowls (yes, they all do have a favorite cereal bowl).  I knew that the chances of my family  not liking a cereal from Hershey’s was slim to none, but I wasn’t prepared for them to like it as much as they did…they demolished the entire box by breakfast the next morning!  They LOVED it!  My husband, who is one of the pickiest people I know (especially when it comes to his cereal) liked it so much that he  now asks for it nearly every time I go to the grocery store, I’d say that’s a success!  If you’re family are big cereal eaters then I definitely suggest picking up a box (or 3) of Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Crème next time you head out to the store, they’ll be so happy that you did!

If you’d like to try Hershey’s new Cookies ‘n’ Crème cereal for yourself, keep reading and find out how you can win the  Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Crème prize pack below!  And don’t forget to “Like” General Mills on Facebook and Follow @GeneralMills on Twitter.  And don't forget to grab a coupon for $1.10 off of one box of Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme cereal...great coupon for a great cereal!

One of the hardest decisions that I have to make on a daily basis is what to have for dinner, most of the time it’s not even an issue of “what do I want?” it’s more of an “I’m not even sure where to start” kinda thing—I’m sure I’m not alone in this!  Being as busy as I am most days, I usually take all the help I can get when it comes to what to have for dinner and nothing has been more help lately than Progresso Recipe Starters.

Progresso_Recipe_Starters_logo

Progresso Recipe Starters sauces are available in five flavorful varieties that can each be used as a starter to create numerous home-cooked meals. For added inspiration, Progresso created 80 recipes utilizing this new line of cooking sauces that can be found on Progresso.com/RecipeStarters. Many of these recipes are classic family favorites, such as Bacon Mac n’ Cheese, Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Parmesan, and utilize ingredients your family may already have on-hand. In addition, all of the recipes on the site include a Rate and Review feature, so we encourage you to leave a rating and review of your own, in which you can even include a link back to your blog post about that recipe! Look for Progresso Recipe Starters in the soup aisles!

Inspired by the five “Mother” Sauces that form the basis of classical French cooking, including Béchamel, Velouté, Tomato, Espagnole and Hollandaise, Recipe Starters use a variety of ingredients and the best techniques to make sure you have delicious options to take on the school days dinner dilemma. The five varieties are:
  • Creamy Parmesan Basil: This creamy, full-bodied and indulgent sauce that was inspired by alfredo and creamy pesto sauces can be used to make dishes such as Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken, Creamy Chicken Alfredo, Basil Chicken Ravioli Carbonara and Basil Chicken Thai Noodle
  • Creamy Roasted Garlic with Chicken Stock: With caramelized, roasted chicken broth, garlic and a touch of cream, this stock is perfect for dishes such as Creamy Lemon Chicken, Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Enchiladas
  • Fire Roasted Tomato: A medium-thick tomato sauce, accompanied by flavors of roasted, caramelized tomatoes, oregano and bell peppers, which can be used as a great way to begin creating  Pulled Chicken Sandwiches, Easy Weeknight Chicken Parmesan, Cheese-stuffed Mini Meat Loaves and Mole Tacos
  • Creamy Portabella Mushroom: Creamy and highly indulgent, this smooth sauce is rich with sautéed Portabella mushrooms,  giving you any easy way to start delicious dishes like Easy Weeknight Beef Stroganoff, Steak and Mushroom Sandwich and Tetrazzini
  • Creamy Three Cheese: Rich and creamy with a blend of yellow and white cheeses, and a savory background of chicken stock, onion, garlic and cracked pepper, this is a great way to satisfy cheese lovers with Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac & Cheese, Twice-Baked Potato Pizza and Cheesy Egg Breakfast Tacos
  •  4435KUG_22864_r50184-1_V1.tif
If y’all are like me, then I already know how you loathe the question of, “Hey MOM!  What’s for dinner?”, but I promise you it doesn’t have to be as hard to come up with show stopping, amazing dinner creations as you might think.  I used to sit at the kitchen table weekly pouring over recipe books trying to find something that looked appealing not only to me, but to my very picky kids and husband as well, now that was a challenge.  When I found out that I would be trying out Progresso’s new Recipe Starters through an opportunity with MyBlogSpark I was excited to try something new for dinner, I just hoped my children and husband were also excited.

I received two different varieties of Progresso Recipe Starters; Creamy Parmesan Basil and Creamy Roasted Garlic with Chicken Stock as well as a few other goodies, including a very helpful recipe booklet, to help me turn a busy week night meal into something special.  Since everyone in the house loves chicken and it seems to be the one protein I have the most trouble being creative with,I decided to try the Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken—it was a big hit with everyone and I’ll definitely be adding it to my monthly meal rotation.

If you can’t wait to try Progresso Recipe Starters you can go here and print a coupon for $.65 off the purchase of 1 can of Progresso® Recipe Starters Cooking Sauce.  Make sure you Like Progresso on Facebook while you’re at it!

So, how would y’all like the chance to win a Progresso Recipe Starter prize pack full of all of the goodies below?  Awesome, that’s what I thought!  Prize Pack includes:

My kids love yogurt—they could seriously eat it every single day and never get tired of eating it and their absolute favorite is Yoplait Trix yogurt!

    image
As a mom, things like artificial sweeteners and preservatives are important to me because  I want to know what kinds of ingredients are in my children’s favorite foods and when a company steps it up and  removes  unnecessary preservatives and sweeteners from their products, well, I think that’s something that deserves a little praise!

Everyone knows that “Trix are for kids,” and now Yoplait Trix yogurt is giving moms even more reasons to love it! Yoplait Trix yogurt has been reformulated to remove artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, and high fructose corn syrup, but only you will know the difference! Whether it’s for an afterschool snack or the highlight of your kid’s lunch box, now you can feel even better about giving your kids the snack that has the same great taste with two bright natural colors in every cup that they can enjoy every day.

    • With the same great taste that kids love and the wholesome goodness of real Yoplait® yogurt that moms appreciate, Yoplait Trix yogurt packs a good source of Calcium and Vitamin D

    • Available in 4-cup packs, with two bright, natural color combinations that can be swirled or eaten at once in every cup, kids can choose from five flavors: Strawberry Punch, Strawberry Banana Bash, Raspberry Rainbow, Triple Cherry, and Cotton Candyimage

I can’t tell you how reassuring it is to me as a mom to give my children something that they love knowing  that it doesn’t contain unnecessary preservatives and sweeteners!  We’ve always loved Yoplait, and my kids have always loved Trix, but now there are a few more reasons for moms and dads everywhere to feel good about making Yoplait Trix their yogurt of choice!

Are you a fan of Yoplait Trix yogurt?  If so, you have to check out this awesome giveaway from Yoplait and MyBlogSpark!

I’ve mentioned before how much my whole family loves cereal and while they would eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, dinner they often choose cereal’s that are too sugary sweet for my liking.  That’s why one of my top picks for cereal for my kids is and always has been Kix! image

Kix was actually one of the very first finger foods that all of my children ate; between the sweet (but not too sweet) taste and the fact that it’s made with whole grain corn and loaded with Iron Kix seems like a natural choice to me!  I love that my children love eating it and I feel good that I’m giving them a cereal that’s packed with lots of stuff that’s good for them—it’s a win-win!

Kix Cereal is proud to say they are still kid-tested, mother-approved®. This go-to favorite is made with whole grain corn and is an excellent source of iron. It also is a good source of calcium, fiber, and Vitamins C and D, providing your family a wholesome breakfast with nutrients they need to grow.

With slightly sweetened and fun-to-eat, crunchy corn balls, Kix cereal eliminates the need for silly airplane noises to land the first bite. Low in sugar and with no artificial color, flavors or preservatives, Kix cereal brings the same great taste kids have loved for more than 70 years to the table.

Visit Kix online for background history, nutritional content, and special offers. We hope you’ll join in on the conversation and tell us why Kix cereal is “approved” in your household!  You can visit the Kix website for more information about Kix how great of a choice Kix is for your household!

We recently received all kinds of Kix goodness (6 boxes of Kix goodness to be exact) at our house thanks to General Mills through MyBlogSpark and one very lucky winner is going to receive a prize pack of the same!image

If you’re a parent (and even if you’re not) you probably know all about the Box Tops 4 Education program.  Well, starting this month you can head over to Walmart and find over 70 products that each have 4 Box Tops…all of those extra Box Tops will definitely go a long way for your child’s school this coming school year!image

Whether you’re shopping for a summer barbeque or gearing up for back-to-school, Walmart makes it easier for you to find everything for every list. And while you stock up on your family’s favorites, don’t forget you can earn cash for the participating school of your choice with Box Tops for Education products.

Shop at Walmart to purchase products from your family’s favorite brands such as Nature Valley, Cheerios, and Yoplait, and earn more cash for the upcoming new school year!

Whether you do all of your shopping online at the Walmart website or in store you can stock up on the products you buy every day (and for special occasions like Back to School and Summer BBQ’s) and collect a ton of Box Tops for your child’s school.

I was given a $25 gift card from Walmart through MyBlogSpark to head over to my local Walmart and stock up on some much needed products and I was surprised by how many products I found that offered bonus Box Tops!  I picked up some of my kiddos favorite General Mills brands including Cheerios and some Yoplait yogurt and started my Box Top collection for this school year.  I have to admit, it feels great to be able to give my family the brands that they know and love and still be able to help out their schools at the same time!

     Candy-Land-Logo
I love playing games with my kids, but with the internet, cell phones, and PS3 at their disposal its not often that we get to enjoy a good old fashion board game.  For me, watching my children play games that I grew up playing brings me a sense of nostalgia, I love that they enjoy some of the same things I did when I was their age.  Candy Land has always been one of my favorite games, and it is so cool to watch my kids playing the same game all these years later.  I remember playing Candy Land with my sister (and always letting her win…or maybe it was the other way around) and now I sit and watch as my kids accuse each other of cheating or stealing their turn…I guess some things never change!

Her perfect sundae included gummy worms and chocolate syrup!

Does it get any better than ice cream?

This past weekend we had the opportunity to host a Candy Land party!  With Halloween (and Trick-or-Treat) this weekend as well some of our guests were no shows, but the kids were troopers and had a blast regardless!  We decided that the best way to celebrate a Candy Land party was with LOTS of candy…so we set up a Sundae bar complete with all of the candy toppings a kid could want!  I had a few reservations about all of the candy, especially since Trick-or-Treat was the same night, but I figured…ah what the heck…they deserve to have a little fun after all it was a Candy Land party!

After the kids stuffed themselves with ice cream and candy it was time to start playing…and play they did!  We set up the Candy Land games according to age (some of the guests were old enough to play without help, while some were playing an actual game for the first time and needed a lot of help).  The one thing I love about Candy Land is that the kids are learning so much as they play (and they don’t even realize it).  From colors and counting, to taking turns and learning not to be a sore loser it was interesting to see the many ways in which the kids (especially the littlest kids) were learning as they went along.  While there were a few, “You’re a cheater!” and “It’s my turn, you just went!” for the most part the game playing went smoothly and all of the kids were having a blast!

Even the babies got in on the act!

We had several Candy Land games to give away to the guests and before they left I made sure to make giving away the games as much fun as the party had been!  In order to win a game each child had to tell me one of the characters or lands from the Candy Land game…I admit I didn’t remember some of them, but the kids did a great job of recalling nearly all of them!  Since several people couldn’t make it to the party my kids decided to give some of the leftover games to some of the neighbor kids, children that my kids don’t even talk to most of the time.  For me that one instance of my kids banding together to spread the Candy Land love was the most powerful thing that happened that day…they do truly amaze me with every single day that goes by!  I do also have a video or two, but my computer is not wanting to cooperate with me tonight…I’ll add them to the post as soon as he (yes as many problems as I have with my computer I figure he has to be male) gets his act together!

Guess what?  I have a Candy Land game to give away to one of y’all!  And FYI this would make a great Christmas gift for a little lady or gent!
