unreal-logoWhen you’re a mom there are a few  unwritten rules that you’re just expected to know like… don’t give children coffee or soda or anything with sugar or caffeine after 5pm, don’t let your children play in the road and the most important unwritten rule, no matter what you do, don’t give them candy!  Of course, that last rule is about  to be turned on its head real soon thanks to UNREAL brands candy.

Now, I know you’re all, “But what’s UNREAL?”, because you most definitely want to know where you can get your hands on that with a quickness  (hey, Halloween is coming up in a couple of weeks and us moms only care about 2 things during that time…1.  getting our kids the (one that’s gonna win us, I mean them, the Best in Show title at the school Halloween carnival) best costume and 2.  candy that can trick our kids into thinking they’re getting one over on us because they think we gave them junk (aka regular candy) yea right, cause this is our first rodeo.  Seriously though, if you’re a mom (and even if you’re not) you’re definitely going to want to know all about UNREAL a brand whose mission is to unjunk the world…very interesting.

As I was saying, UNREAL brand spent nearly two years coming up with the perfect candy recipes to give consumers an alternative to the typical candy bars found on supermarket shelves.  Debuting in nearly 18,00 nationwide, UNREAL hit store shelves just in time for Back-to-School and Halloween.  UNREAL is made of five candies that not only taste great, but they also cost about the same as the regular candy bars.

UNREAL Product List

UNREAL 54—Candy Coated Chocolate with Peanuts

UNREAL 41—Candy Coated Chocolates

UNREAL 5—Chocolate Caramel Nougat Bar (my absolute favorite)

UNREAL 8—Chocolate Caramel Peanuts and Nougat

UNREAL 77—Peanut Butter Cups

I think it’s also important to note that UNREAL candies contain no corn syrup, no hydrogenated oil, no artificial flavors, no GMO’s (that outta make Travie Trav real happy…long story) and no synthetic colors.

So who thought up UNREAL brand you ask?  Well a very determined Nicky Bronner (who by the way, is just a kid) was determined to take the junk out of candy so he teamed up with innovative chef Adam Melonas and together they created UNREAL!  UNREAL candies are not only made with more fiber and more protein, they are also made using wholesome ingredients.  In addition to using dairy that is free-range, pasture-raised cows without antibiotics or hormones and palm kernel oil that comes from a sustainable organic farm in Brazil, the cacao beans are sourced from farms in Ghana and Ecuador that do not employ child labor…sounds like a pretty great company to find out more about if you ask me.  And with team members as unique as the day is long, one from Google, one from P&G, UNREAL is a mishmosh of creative people brought together by a common mission…to change the way junk food is made!

UNREAL-Collage

I recently had the opportunity to host an UNREAL party for a few family and friends and after I tried the UNREAL brand, I couldn’t wait for them to try it as well.  We kept our party very casual and decided to make it a party for everyone and invite the kids.  I was a little nervous about giving the kids the UNREAL candy, I mean they are the most unforgiving critics after all, but it turned out that they know what’s good no matter how good for them it is!  I think the fact that UNREAL caters to both adults and children makes it a homerun in my book.

The party was a big success and though we didn’t capture all of the party goers on camera (seriously, taking a picture of some of these people is more difficult than special opps.) everyone agreed that UNREAL is a step in the right direction, a very yummy direction, I might add.  See for yourself, you can pick up UNREAL brand candies at CVS, Walgreens and Kroger!

Disclosure:  I was compensated for hosting an UNREAL party, in addition I received the product mentioned above from either the representing PR firm or the brand directly…all opinions are my own!
