One of my favorite things about this time of year is the opportunity to have friends over, whether it’s Jamie and I entertaining Pee Wee and Tiffany or the kiddos hanging out with their friends in our driveway all day long, it seems like there’s always an opportunity for some fun to be had!  And what’s more fun in the summertime than having a campfire and roasting marshmallows?

I still remember roasting marshmallows over a campfire when I was a kid; popping a marshmallow onto a stick and trying to hold it steady over a roaring campfire as it got all ooey, gooey and deliciously melty (is melty even a word?).  I can almost smell the firewood and taste the warm gooey marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker combo!

Though my kiddos have had S’mores roasted over our gas grill, they’ve never really gotten to experience a real campfire and all of the memory inducing sights and smells that come with it!  When I was contacted by duraflame to do a review for their new Campfire Roasting Logs I couldn’t resist the opportunity to let my little ones experience one of my favorite childhood memories!

review

When we received the Campfire Roasting Logs from duraflame to review we also received a very tasty S’mores roasting kit and we couldn’t wait to see how the Campfire Roasting Logs compared to the way we usually roast marshmallows (over a gas grill).  My step-son was kind enough to build us an awesome campfire pit and in just a few short minutes I was lighting the duraflame logs and preparing the marshmallows for roasting!  I have to admit, I’m not much of a campfire builder, usually I am the last person attempting to build the fire, so I was a little hesitant about building the fire by myself, but honestly it was super east with the duraflame Campfire Roasting Logs…I literally just stacked the logs and lit the ends of the paper and we had an almost instant campfire!  Seriously y’all this couldn’t be easier!  The logs lit so easily and in no time we had the perfect fire for marshmallow roasting—the kids and one of their friends loved the impromptu treat and the idea of a campfire…right in the middle of town!

How fun does this look?  All of the kiddos were so eager to roast marshmallows and eat them of course!

thoughts

As you can see from the pictures above the kiddos had a blast roasting marshmallows and eating S’mores!  I love that the duraflame Campfire Roasting Logs can make the fun of camping happen anywhere, anytime!  We’re planning a family camping trip this summer (my first “real” camping trip) and I am definitely bringing along a bundle of these logs—they’re so easy that I know they’ll make camping that much easier and so much more fun!  We give duraflame Campfire Roasting Logs 2 big thumbs up!

  1. Cant wait for the campouts. I have used Duraflame but generally only in winter, in the fireplace, never thought of using it in a firepit
