This past Monday was my gorgeous daughter Savanna’s 8th birthday—wow where does the time go?
Remember a few weeks ago when Savanna and I did a pre-birthday interview about her party? Well when all was said and done we decided on an Alice in Wonderland themed Tea Party…and with some help from Betty Crocker her party (and the cake) turned out great! Thanks to My Blog Spark I was given the opportunity to throw Savanna a birthday party with a little help from Betty Crocker!
As I mentioned Savanna wanted an Alice in Wonderland themed party; I knew that one of the most important elements of the party would be the cake so I searched BettyCrocker.com for ideas and found a cake that was perfect for our tea party—of course, we had to tweak it a bit to have it match our theme perfectly, but we couldn’t have done it without all of the help on the Betty Crocker website.
First before I get to the actual details of the cake I want to thank my sister Brianna for all of her help…not only did she dedicate all of her day Friday to working on Savanna’s cake, she produced an awesome cake that my daughter loved! While I did help (some) with the cake Brianna was the creative genius behind the decorating and all of the accolades most definitely go to her!
For Savanna’s cake we choose to do a three tier cake with the top tier being a variation of the Sweet Tea Party cake on the Betty Crocker website. For the bottom layer we choose Betty Crocker pound cake since it’s more dense than the other more moist cakes; the pound cake proved to not only be strong enough to hold the next two layers, but a huge hit…it was by far everyone’s favorite flavor. For the next layer we chose classic Betty Crocker chocolate and for the last layer we went with Betty Crocker SuperMoist Strawberry, which was yummo! All of the cake flavors were very good and super moist and the Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy frosting was easy to tint and super easy to spread. Overall I was extremely happy with the Betty Crocker brand and Savanna was super happy so that made it totally worth all the work!

Applying the diamonds to the bottom layer as Miss Savanna supervises.
The finished cake…looks great Bree!
To help me plan and execute our Alice in Wonderland themed party, Betty Crocker and MyBlogSpark provided me with VIP coupons from Betty Crocker, a gift card, and a FLIP video camera to help execute and document the party. My FLIP video camera died after using it at the party, which was unfortunate because all of the videos of her party were still in the camera ad could not be retrieved, but I still took lots of pictures to share with you all. The Birthday Girl with her gorgeous cake!
If you’re planning a birthday party then I encourage you to check out the Betty Crocker website and take a look at all of the great party ideas!
What better why to celebrate a birthday than with a giveaway? Sounds like fun to me!
