I feel the need to first say that I really dislike posting negative things about products here, honestly, if I receive a product to review and I really dislike it, I normally just skip posting about it because I don't like the negativity, but when I've personally purchased something that I then mention to all of you and it turns out to be really, really bad, well I think that I need to let y'all know!
About a month ago I posted about a nail polish brand called Julep and the awesome deal that I scored when I signed up to be part of their Maven program. Now, I love all things beauty related and I live for nail polish so when I found out that I could get a few full-size nail polishes and a bonus beauty/nail product for less than $3 I was definitely going to do it! And since it was such an awesome deal, I wanted to share that with all of you! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Julep or their Maven program, you can read more about it in my previous post. Basically it's a monthly subscription box service (much like Ipsy or Birchbox) where you pay a monthly fee (they have two options but it's around $20-$25 per month) and each month they send you a personalized box with a couple of their nail polishes and usually some other nail related product. Honestly, I signed up to be a Maven because I basically received the first box free (not counting the $2.99 I paid for shipping) for over $40 worth of products, I love nail polish so it was a no-brainer. When I received my Maven Box I was over the moon excited and couldn't wait to use the polish, but I immediately noticed that my box did not contain the items that I had chosen (I was suppose to receive 2 nail polishes and a blush, instead I received 2 nail polishes and a cuticle oil), not a super big deal because the polish colors were gorgeous and who doesn't need a good cuticle oil. Unfortunately that is where the excitement ended for me.

The same day that my box arrived I decided to give myself a manicure and I chose the Madison (which is a neon orangey coral color that was beautiful in the bottle) to paint my nails. Immediately I noticed that the bottle was awkward, being tall and skinny made it very difficult to dip the polish brush into the bottle without it tipping, but again, I tried to see the bright side so I shrugged it off since the bottle has very little to do with the color and how well it applies. Next thing I noticed (and immediately disliked) was the super runny, streaky, messy formula and I was instantly confused because this polish sells for $14 a bottle, this had to be a bad bottle...right? I mean there is no way that all of their polish is this bad...right? After three (very messy, very streaky) coats of polish, the color on my nails looked absolutely nothing like what was in the bottle and the "highly pigmented" polish that Julep describes, is not at all what I had on my nails. As a matter of fact, my nails looked like a five year old painted them...it was bad, really, really bad. Since I wanted to be fair to the polish and give it a chance to redeem itself, I threw on a top coat and went on about my day. I woke up the next morning with sheet marks (like the marks you get on your face when you wake up in the morning from the pillow or sheets) and chips on nearly every single nail, keep in mind that I applied the polish around noon and it was completely dry within 30 minutes, yet I still woke up with marks. Now either I was fighting someone in my sleep (and they won) or this nail polish is just the absolute worst polish ever. Completely discouraged, but still wanting to love it, I decided to try the other color that came in my Maven Box, Maddy, which is a gorgeous pink color that I thought would be perfect for summer...sadly, my results were exactly the same. It took 3 coats to even cover the nails, the outcome was a streaky mess, the next morning there were marks in all of my nails and chips within 24 hours. I am definitely not an expert on nail polish, but I'm pretty sure that if you're selling something as small as a bottle of nail polish for $14, it better be damn good, I mean MAC polish is $16 a bottle so you'd expect a very similar result from something that was only $2 less...or maybe that's just me. Honestly y'all, I wanted to love this stuff, I really did, but at the end of the day, there are SO many other great nail polish brands out there that I'm not sure why anyone would spend $14 a bottle on this stuff. If you're looking for a good polish, try Essie you can get it at the drug store, it's around $8 a bottle and it's amazing!
Unfortunately I will be cancelling my subscription with Julep Maven, because at this point, I don't feel like spending even another $3 (let alone $20) for nail polish that not even my 12 year old nail polish obsessed daughter will use.
Sorry Julep Maven, but the nail polish is definitely a miss!

Everyone who knows me, knows how obsessed I am with makeup
and beauty products, so it is very common for people to ask me for advice on
products, tips and tricks, and just crazy questions pertaining to one of my
favorite topics. A couple of days ago
one of my friends ask me, “If you were stuck on a deserted island and you could
only take 3 makeup items with you, what would they be?”, honestly it was a hard
question to answer, but I thought that it would make a great topic for a blog
post so I thought I’d share my answer with all of you!
So, if I were stuck on a deserted island, which 3 makeup
products would I take with me?
Hmmm….this is hard, seriously, it’s like being asked, “If
you had to pick a favorite child, which one would it be?”, thank goodness it’s
only makeup!
Alright, so first and foremost I cannot live without my waterproof mascara! I have teeny,
tiny, barely there lashes and without mascara they are just a hot (or not so
hot actually) mess and since I’d be on an island, with lots of water to splash
around in, it only makes sense to bring waterproof mascara…right? My favorite mascara at the moment just so
happens to be the tarte limited-edition
lights, camera, splashes™ 4-in-1 waterproof mascara, it’s ah-mazing, if you
haven’t tried it…you must!
Next on my list of
island must-haves would definitely have to be a good lip gloss! I’ve never been much of a lipstick girl, I
prefer lip
gloss any day of the week, but
I do like to have something on my lips to make them stand out and lip gloss is
my go-to product. Plus, if you happen to
be rescued, you want to look your best…right?
Last, but most
certainly not least on my list of deserted island must-haves would have to
be…drum-roll please…sunscreen! Alright,
this one should be a no-brainer and it’s not exactly a makeup product, but a
lot of people skip this seriously crucial skincare step and it’s so important! Think
about it, you’re out in the hot sun all day long and while your tan may be
killer, it could actually be a killer, so a great sunscreen with at least SPF
30 is the way to go to make sure that your skin is protected from the harsh sun
and will look great for years to come!
And that my friends,
is my 3 deserted island must-have makeup/skincare products. While I don’t plan on being stuck on an
island in the middle of the ocean anytime soon, it was fun to think about which
items I couldn’t live without!
So I want to ask all
of you the same question. If you were
stuck on a deserted island and you could only take 3 makeup/skincare products

When it comes to makeup, my heart (and wallet) belongs in
the makeup aisles at the drugstore!
While I do love me some high-end makeup, realistically, my family likes
to eat, so I kind of have to save the high-end makeup purchases for pretty
special occasions, which is honestly fine with me because there are so many
great options at the drugstore. One of my
favorite affordable makeup brands also happens to be a fairly new favorite for
me (I’ll explain in a minute) and that brand is NYC!
Believe it or not I only discovered NYC (New York Color)
within the past 6 months, now there are a couple of reasons why I wasn’t aware
of this brand before then, the main one being that I never went into the actual
drugstores to buy makeup (it was strictly Walmart and online makeup shopping
for me and since my Walmart doesn’t sell NYC I just didn’t know about it), it
was only when I started watching YouTube makeup tutorials that I really
discovered (and then promptly fell in love with) NYC. For those of you who are currently living
under the same rock I was living under until recently and are not familiar with
NYC, let me tell you a little more about this awesome brand!
Essentially, NYC is a super affordable brand of makeup that
includes products for the eyes, face, lips and nails. With the majority of their products ranging
in price from $1.99 to $3.99 (and nothing over $4.99), NYC is a great drugstore
brand that offers high-quality products at very affordable prices.
Recently NYC (or the PR firm who represents NYC rather) sent
me a ton of great new lip products and an equally awesome eye product to review
and since I have quite the obsession with makeup, I just couldn’t help but give
them a try and I cannot wait to share my thoughts on all of that makeup
goodness with all of you!
First up I’ll start with the eye product that NYC sent to me…the
NYC New York Color Showtime Velvet Eyeliner.
I am very picky when it comes to my eyeliner and I find it incredibly hard
to find a good drugstore liner that is smooth, creamy and blendable, but this
one from NYC has really surprised me so far.
While it doesn’t wow me like some of the more expensive eyeliner pencils
that I’ve tried have, I do think it’s a great drugstore liner and at $1.99, it’s
worth giving it a try. I received the
color Red Wine and the color is just fantastic, it’s perfect for the more
smokey looks that I gravitate towards when it cooler outside and I cannot wait
to play around with it more into the fall months!
If you know me, then you know that I adore a good lip chubby
and if you’re not sure what a lip chubby is, it’s just a big, fat, lipstick
crayon and every single makeup brand known to man has their own version and the
NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color crayons are some of my
favorites. Available in 12 stunning
shades, the NYC City Proof Twistable lip color crayons are super creamy, they
glide on effortlessly and they look fabulous on and I don’t know about you, but
those are pretty much my criteria for a good lip crayon! I received the colors Parsons Pink, Futon
Street Fuchsia and Riverside Rose to try from NYC and I was so excited to play
around with them. First off I will say
that while these colors can be very intense (some colors definitely more so
than others) they can also come off a little sheer, some of the colors
(especially Nolita Neutral and Parsons Pink) remind me almost of a tinted lip
balm, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, I mean, who doesn’t love a good
tinted lip balm!?! My favorite color of the
three that I reviewed is definitely the Riverside Rose (I find myself applying
it almost every day), but I did purchase Nolita Neutral before NYC sent the
others to me and I find that while on its own it is not very pigmented, it
works perfectly on top of a darker color in the center of my bottom lip to help
create the illusion of a fuller lip…it’s my go-to for that little trick! If you’re in the market for an affordable lip
crayon that glides on smooth and looks fabulous on the lip, I’d definitely suggest
the City Proof Twistable Lip Crayons from NYC and at only $2.99 each, they’re a
steal!
Last, but most certainly not least, is another amazing lip
product from NYC, the New York Color Expert Last lip color! This lipstick is definitely my favorite of
the three products that I reviewed for a number of reasons, but mainly because
it’s the one lipstick, drugstore or not, that I’ve ever tried that actually
stayed on my lips for a decent amount of time, I can get a good 4 hours out of
this lipstick without reapplying, which is something that I’ve never experience
from a regular lipstick. Available in 20
gorgeous shades, NYC Expert Last lip color is in my book a definite drugstore
must-have! I’ve seen mixed reviews on
this lipstick and while some people have complained that it can tend to be
drying, I personally haven’t experienced that, it’s not as buttery as say the
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter, but that particular lipstick, as creamy and moisturizing
as it is, only lasts for about 30 minutes max on my lips, so I’ll take a
formula with a little less moisture (though for me, the moisture level seems to
be on par with similar lipsticks), but far more staying power, any day of the
week! I receive three new colors from
the Expert Last lip color line; Forever Fuchsia, Coralista and Peach Fizz and
let me just say that the color payoff is incredible with these lipsticks and
for me, they glide on super easily and look stunning on the lip. My personal favorite color from the entire
line is Peach Fizz, it’s a very pretty peachy, neutral color that is absolutely
perfect for summer, and it also pairs so well with Parsons Pink on top for a little
added shimmer without changing the color too much…I absolutely love the two of
them together! The NYC Expert Last lip
color is also a steal coming in at just under $2 a tube!

I know that I've been doing an awful lot of talking about makeup around here lately, but it really is something that I love and that I love to share that love with all of you. I hope that's alright, because today I have a truly unique (and so incredibly awesome that I can barely contain myself) product to tell you about, from a company that I just so happen to love...Skindinavia!

Again I feel the need to confess my obsession with all things makeup, I know that if you've been around here for a while then you already know that, but if you haven't, then I guess the cat's out of the bag.
I used to be a strictly drugstore makeup kinda gal, mostly because buying things like formula and diapers had to come before buying makeup, but this year for my birthday my husband bought me the Naked 2 and Naked 3 eyeshadow palettes and I discovered a whole new world of higher priced makeup that I was missing out on. Now I will say that for the most part my makeup collection does still consist of drugstore makeup, especially my eyeshadow collection because I already had a ton of it, but once I had the chance to experiment with higher end makeup I was hooked.
This post is going to focus on my favorite eyeshadow palettes that I own, a couple of those are going to be high-end and the rest are drugstore and I promise that they are all worth scouring the drugstore or spending a little more money.
First and foremost is my absolute favorite (and most used palette) the Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. If you own this palette then you know exactly what I'm talking about already, it's an amazing palette that is the follow-up to the uber popular Naked palette by Urban Decay. The palette is filled with 12 (amazingly gorgeous) taupe-hued neutrals and is perfect for everything from an everyday neutral makeup look, to a more dramatic look for a night out. I use this palette nearly every day and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it.
Favorite Colors from the Naked 2 Palette: Tease (a matte taupe color that is super gorgeous and can be used in a bazillion different looks!). Chopper (a super shimmery, rosey gold, almost copper color that is to-die for. I love using it on looks for just a little bit of dramatic flare, but it can certainly be used for a more glam look as well.) Foxy I use this all over the eye as a base, it's also my favorite color to use on my lid for a very simple, clean, gorgeous natural look.
If you don't currently own the Naked 2 palette, I would definitely suggest adding it to your collection, for me (and lots of others) it's a definite must-have makeup item!
Next up is the follow-up to the Naked 2 palette, Naked 3! Naked 3 couldn't be more different than the Naked 2 palette as it is full of gorgeous rose gold colors that are perfect for a soft, romantic date night look or just a playful and fun everyday look. While I prefer the Naked 2 palette to the Naked 3, I do love the variation of colors in the Naked 3 palette and can I just say that all of the Naked palettes are super pigmented, super creamy and so easily blendable to create any number of fabulous looks!
Favorite Colors from the Naked 3 Palette: Nooner (a taupey-pink shade that just looks incredible as a transition or even crease color. Factory (this darker, slightly shimmery shade is perfect for intensifying the other V...makes your look more intense and sultry).
One of my all-time favorite drugstore eye-shadows are the Wet 'N' Wild ColorIcon line. I own most of the trios and several of the 8 pan palettes. If you use Wet 'N' Wild shadows already then you know exactly why they are some of my favorites. Aside from being some of the most (or in my opinion the most) pigmented drugstore eye-shadows, they are also super creamy and so easily bendable. My current favorite (which I just found at my local Rite Aid is the Limited Edition "Walking the Red Carpet" 8 pan palette and I am obsessed! The colors are to-die for and the quality is exactly what I've come to expect from Wet 'N' Wild! So what's the best thing about Wet 'N' Wild eye-shadows? Aside from the quality, it's definitely the price...they are all super cheap, with most trios selling for under $3 and the 8 pan palettes for around $5!
Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Quads have definitely been a staple in my makeup collection for as long as I can remember! The combination of gorgeous colors, creamy shadows and super-long staying power, has kept me constantly coming back for more! One of my all-time favorite quads is the Precocious quad, which is full of gorgeous colors that make a great night out smokey eye ridiculously easy to pull off! If you haven't given Revlon Colorstay eyeshadow quads a try, pick up one (or five) the next time you head to the drugstore, I promise...you'll love the results!

Hey y'all! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far!
I have a really cool beauty product to share with all of you today, if you're a fan of the Korres brand then you may already know all about this little gem, but if you've not had the chance to check out the brand, I definitely recommend that you do...I promise you'll love it!
So, today we're going to talk about my new favorite makeup primer, the Korres Pomegranate Face Primer! I'm a huge fan of primers in general, I think that they make a world of difference in getting your skin ready for makeup and this one is probably the best one I've tried so far. The Korres Pomegranate Face Primer is a mattifying primer, that blends to an invisible matte finish while minimizing the appearance of pores, balancing skintone and texture, and preparing skin for smooth makeup application and long-lasting wear. The 94% natural, non-comedogenic formula is water-based so it allows skin to breathe and never clogs pores. The formula is loaded with antioxidant-rich pomegranate extract to help tighten pores, willow bark extract to balance skin, witch hazel water to mattify and tighten while removing excess oil and dirt, and rice starch to absorb excess surface oil and soften skin. No Parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, Petrochemicals, GMOs or Tricosan.
I love being able to share video reviews of products whenever possible, I think it just helps y'all get a better idea of what the product looks like, how it works and really just gives me a chance to share all of my thoughts and opinions of the product with, without ruining my manicure...kidding, I just like making videos :). If you can't tell by the video, I really am loving this primer! I think that compared to other primers that I've tried, this one really does deliver as far as the product claims go...and then some! I don't notice the need to touch up a million times a day when I'm using this primer, which is a huge plus when you have a hectic lifestyle like I do. I also think that the staying power of this primer is far better than most of the other I've tried. As far as prepping my face for foundation, the Korres Pomegrante primer really does just help to hide my pores, while giving my face a more even tone that makes for a really flawless makeup application.
If you're looking for a primer that mattifies the skin, reduces the look of pores, evens out the skin tone and provides a super-long wearing makeup application....you need this in your life! Seriously, I don't even reach for any of my other primers since trying this...it's that good!

Hey y'all!
It's been a rough two weeks for me at work; training for a new brand, lots and lots of angry customers, and the Mother's Day rush from hell, BUT I made it through and am back with my old brand and happier than ever...guess I'll never complain about too many hours again LOL.

I'm not typically a fan of makeup removing towelettes, my eyes are far too sensitive to use most of them, but I was very pleasantly surprised by not only how little they irritated my eyes, but by how well they worked! It's been a rough two weeks for me at work; training for a new brand, lots and lots of angry customers, and the Mother's Day rush from hell, BUT I made it through and am back with my old brand and happier than ever...guess I'll never complain about too many hours again LOL.

I received the Bioré Free Your Pores Pore Detoxifying Foam Cleanser and the Bioré Free Your Pores Makeup Remover Towelettes from Bioré to try out recently and I've had a lot of fun adding them to my skincare routine for a little test run!
Let's talk first about the Bioré Pore Detoxifying Foam Cleanser! This cleanser tones, cleans and stimulates your skin, infused with eucalyptus extract, this self-foaming cleanser detoxifies skin and pores by removing surface toxins. Since I missed a day of our Back-to-School Blowout (I’ve been feeling rather blah and yucky for the past several days—but I’m back now and feeling much better thank goodness) I thought I’d sneak in a little something for all of you moms out there for back-to-school, because goodness knows that BTS seems to be the hardest on us! If you know me, I mean really know me then you know there are a few things I simply cannot live without…1. My kiddos…obviously, I love their bad butts more than anything.
2. My phone…I really can’t remember what life was like without my iPhone and Candy Crush.
3. Makeup, seriously, it completes me…literally!
