If there’s one thing that my children look forward to this time of year it’s writing letters to Santa! I love seeing the looks of concentration on their faces as they write their lists methodically, making sure not to leave off a single item, and always being sure to ask about Mrs. Claus and the Elves! I can’t imagine their letters to Santa not being one of their very favorite Santa memories when they get older.
When my sister and I were little, we wrote letters to Santa every year, I remember putting so much thought and care into my letter and being so excited for Santa to receive it and hopefully share it with Mrs. Claus and the Elves (and Rudolph too—I loved him). One of my very favorite Santa memories is of waking up Christmas morning to find a handwritten letter from Santa addressed to me—it still makes me smile thinking about it! It was those small things that make me realize what an amazing mother I have—I only hope that my children will grow up and think back on those very special moments and think the same thing about me!
Since the holiday season is all about small miracles I am always very quick to stand behind companies who help make Christmas a special for children and those who donate so generously always amaze me—none quite as much as Macy’s!
One of the many reasons why I love Macy’s so much (aside from the obvious) is that for the past four years they have helped raise more than $4 million dollars to the Make-A-Wish Foundation with their Believe campaign! For every letter to Santa received at the special red letterboxes at Macy’s across the country, Macy’s will donate $1 to The Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant wishes for children. It’s such a simple thing—have your child write a letter to Santa (something that they will undoubtedly do anyway—and take it to the red letterbox at your local Macy’s—and then Macy’s donates $1 for that letter!
As a special treat in stores this year, believers of all ages can take their photos with the characters from the animated holiday classic, “Yes, Virginia.” Visit any Macy’s Believe Station to pose for holiday photos with Virginia and her friends – and don’t miss Macy’s celebrated Santalands to pose with Santa himself! How very cool is that?
I hope that all of you will have your child(ren) write their letters to Santa and take them to your local Macy’s red letterbox—it’s a great cause and such an easy way to help spread some holiday cheer!
Now I have an awesome surprise for one Misadventures in Baby Raising reader! I have a Believe Snowglobe to give away to one very lucky MIBR reader just in time for Christmas! Details on how to enter are below! Happy Holidays! Just a heads up this is a very short giveaway (so that the winner receives the snowglobe before Christmas) so if you enter make sure you can respond within 24 hours of the giveaway ending!

With summer coming to an end visions of the holidays are already on the minds of many, I’ve been thinking about my Thanksgiving menu for weeks now, and who can think about Thanksgiving without thinking of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade!?! I have an awesome giveaway for one MIBR reader—but (and this is important) this is a super quick giveaway (ENDING Tomorrow Friday August 19th @ Noon EST) so if you want to win you have to enter NOW!
More than 10,000 of Macy’s Parade’s ever-rambunctious elves have magically taken residence at Macy’s stores nationwide and at locations in select cities. Fans who find one of Macy’s hidden elves, give it a makeover and submit their design to Macy’s Elf Adventure Facebook application could see their elf design transformed into a flying wonder and watch it soar in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! In addition, the winner and three guests will receive a trip to New York City to see the Parade live.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for parade fans to design what could become the newest member of the Parade elf family and travel to NYC with three guests to attend the magical Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade…we hope you’re as excited as we are!
To find an elf, look for clues on Macy’s Facebook page and via Twitter @macysevents or #macyself. Each day from August 9th – August 24th, Macy’s will post a clue and password that will help reveal the location of elves. Once elf hunters have deduced the location, they must tell a department sales associate the daily password to receive their coveted sprite. The daily clue and password can also be received by texting* ELF to MACYS (62297).
DESIGN IT
After the hunt is over, fans are asked to let their imagination take flight and design what could be the newest member of the Parade elf family. Once the masterpiece is complete, the artist should submit a detailed front and back photo of their creation. To enter the design, participants will need to “Like” Macy’s on Facebook and then proceed to download the “Elf” application. Entries must include the identification serial number found on the packaging containing the elf (all real Macy’s elves will have one) and upload their photo/complete application by Wednesday, August 24 at 11:59:59 PM ET.
PARADE IT
From the received entries, a judging panel from Macy’s Parade & Entertainment Group will narrow down the entries to the Top 85. These entries will be posted on Macy’s Facebook page on Tuesday, August 30th for fans/friends to begin casting votes on their favorite. The Elf design with the most votes as of Wednesday, September 6th at 11:59:59 PM ET, will be announced in mid-September. From here, the design will be transformed into a helium wonder by the magicians of Macy’s Parade Studio. Besides designing the next elf balloon, the winning artist and three guests will receive a trip to New York City to see the Parade live and enjoy their elf’s maiden flight in the holiday spectacular.

You may remember my post several months back about Macy’s IMPULSE spring styles, well make room in your closets ladies because Macy’s IMPULSE fall styles are here! I am a huge fan of Macy’s no matter what my budget, I can always find a ton of affordable, cutting edge styles just perfect for my wardrobe.
Here’s a little more about Macy’s IMPULSE Fall styles:
Searching for the hottest styles for Fall? Look no further than the Macy’s IMPULSE department. Each season, IMPULSE does the legwork for you by publishing its highly anticipated HOT LIST. Essentially a cheat sheet of the season’s must-have looks, it features many of today’s top labels, including 7 For All Mankind, Miss Me, Sugar Lips and more.
The focus this season: eye-catching details. Think Shimmery Dresses and Embellished Tees. Also girly (but slightly less glitzy) Lace Details and Draped Camis that add a hint of attitude to your everyday outfit. To nail both trends, try wearing a lace-trimmed cardigan over a flowy, floral camisole.
Even when it comes to basics, it’s the little things that count. Update your go-to pieces with a pair of the latest super Slim Jeans. Pair them with an Oversized Knit Hoodie for a laid-back yet sophisticated look.
There are so many pieces from the fall collection that I adore I don’t even know where to start, hmm let’s see…this blouse—I will own that…gorgeous!
And this bootie…is to die! I have been all about boots for a while now, but it is definitely the time for a cute, fun, and fashionable boot!
And being the causal kinda girl that I am I couldn’t forget about a great pair of jeans! Or maybe this killer hoodie…so many choices…so little time!
And the looks mentioned above are just the tip of the iceberg…the IMPULSE department at Macy’s has What’s Hot for fall 2010 so make sure you check it out! And while you’re there pick up a few Macy’s gift cards…they make great holiday gifts for everyone on your list!
And speaking of Macy’s gift cards, how would you like to win one? You heard me right…one MIBR reader is going to win a $50 Macy’s Gift Card so that she (or he) can shop till their heart’s content at Macy’s and maybe pick up a few of the killer items on the Macy’s IMPULSE department Hot List for fall 2010!

I love to shop! I’m sure that comes as no surprise and I’m positive that I’m not the only one! One of my favorite places to shop is Macy’s (I’m sure I’m not alone in that either). Besides having a huge selection of the latest and greatest styles, Macy’s is just a fun place to spend hours pouring over the racks and shopping till your heart’s content. Of course, Macy’s is always trying (and succeeding) to make their customer’s happy by bringing them only the best in fashion and Macy’s IMPULSE Spring 2010 Collection is proof of that.
Macy’s IMPULSE department is THE place for fashion savvy ladies (like ourselves) to find the latest trends from our favorite Contemporary brands. Macy’s IMPULSE Spring 2010 Hot List features items from over 250 of the most sought after brands like 7 for All Mankind (a big favorite of mine), BCBG, Free People, Splendid, and so many more. Some of the biggest trends for Spring 2010 are weaved together by incorporating bursts of color from neon pinks and bright yellow, turquoise, and fuchsia…love it! The Global Nomad trend is also popular and fuses together ethnic inspired prints from around the world, batik prints, tie-dye, and even animal prints. The cargo pant is also one of the Hot List items this spring and it mixes perfectly with the more outrageous embellished tops and wild prints.
Of course I couldn’t write a post about shopping without showing you some of my favorites from the Spring 2010 Hot List!
