While I may be a blogger who just so happens to review products from time to time, I’m a mom first and the best part of those two worlds colliding is being able to constantly introduce new products and new content from some of their most loved characters and brands; that’s definitely the case with Chuggington.

Whether it’s reviewing one of the very awesome Chuggington wooden railways or giving away an awesome new Chuggington DVD, I love having the opportunity to keep my kids in the loop with what’s new from Chuggington!  So when I received an email recently about the latest Chuggington DVD (Chug Patrol:  Ready to Rescue)  from Anchor Bay Entertainment I couldn’t resist the opportunity to check it out!

Chug Patrol 3D
About Chug Patrol:  Ready to Rescue!

Wilson, Koko and Brewster are back and raring to go in Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue!  The new title features six action-packed episodes, including the never-before-seen, super-sized special set to launch on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.  The new DVD also gives “Chuggington” fans the opportunity to meet new characters, including Chug Patrol Chief Jackman and super-speedy Hanzo!  Chug Patrol: Ready to Rescue puts its “wheels to the rails” at retailers nationwide on August 20, 2013.

And if that’s not cool enough all on it’s own, Anchor Bay Entertainment has teamed-up with My Gym, the leading fitness center destination for children with hundreds of locations across the U.S.!  Participating My Gym locations will feature colorful “Chuggington” window clings prominently displayed in each facility as well as counter cards with coupons for a discount on purchase of the new DVD or any other “Chuggington” DVD! the “Chuggington” theme song will be integrated into gym classes and a video clip will be played on a loop on My Gym TVs – and young gym-goers also will receive “Chuggington” sticker sheets to take home after class!  The “traintastic” promotion runs through September 19, 2013.

I love that Anchor Bay is encouraging kids to be active by incorporating some of their favorite characters—I know that my children always get excited when they see their favorites encourage them to be active.  Lil Man and Lil Diva are two of the biggest Chuggington fans I know and they loved Chug Patrol:  Ready to Rescue, if you have some little Chuggington fans in your house, I highly encourage you to check the latest DVD out—they’ll love it!

I’ve been extremely lucky in that all of my children have always been big readers; whether they’re reading chapter books for leisure or just making up stories to go along with the images in their story books, they all love books and reading.

While I admittedly do not do very many book reviews, I do love the opportunity to introduce my children to new characters and stories so I couldn’t say no to reviewing LuLu in LA La Land as it sounded like a perfect book for my tween Sporty Spice.

About Lulu in LA LA Land…

Children’s’ book author Elisabeth Wolf has seen it all, but has also missed out on a lot.
As a mother of two tweens, former Communications Director for a California Governor, Congressman, US Senator, several Mayors of Los Angeles, and with a husband in the entertainment industry, Elisabeth spent years running around Los Angeles, juggling parenting, work, and family duties.

Lulu in LA LA Land (Aug. 6, 2013) tells the story of loveable Lulu Harrison, daughter of Hollywood’s A-List couple: the busiest parents of them all.

Using her storytelling expertise (she is a PR pro, after all), the characters, settings and themes in Elisabeth’s new kids book, reflect on scenes from Elisabeth and her family’s day-to-day life.
· Lulu is written in a screenplay/novel format, inspired by Elisabeth’s daughter, who would rather read a screenplay of a TV show than watch it on screen. Kids love TV—Lulu shows kids what their favorite shows and movies look like before they become the real thing.

· Lulu is Elisabeth’s ode to her favorite city, highlighting the culture and lifestyle that is unique to LA through visits to the Hotel Bel Air, food trucks, her favorite famers’ markets and fashion hot spots like Fred Segal.

I thought Sporty Spice was the perfect person to review this book for me since she loves reading, but sometimes seems to struggle with the standard chapter book format.  I think writing the book in screenplay format really helped SS to get into the characters and settings within the book and helped her enjoy it that much more.  SS loved the Lulu character and said that she’d most definitely recommend the book to girls her age who love adventure and fun!

You can find out more about Lulu in LA LA Land online at the Lulu in LA LA Land website.

I always find it so awesome when my children love something (anything really) that I enjoyed when I was a child and with the reintroduction of so many toys, characters and movies from the 80’s, I get to see that happen quite often and I happen to think it’s pretty cool.

careBearsBellyBadge
One of my very favorite characters when I was younger were the Care Bears (I still have my old Tenderheart Bear in my moms attic somewhere) and I love that all three of my daughters have, at one point or another, enjoyed those sweet bears as much as I used to.  With so many TV shows and movies and to some extent even children’s characters, seeming to steer further and further away from good, positive, real messages, I appreciate brands that still make it a point to bring so much positivity to little ones through their favorite characters and the Care Bears brand has always been a great example of that.  International Friendship Day is coming up next month (August 4th) and the lessons of friendship, caring and love are the strongest messages revealed through Care Bears: A Belly Badge For Wonderheart - The Movie arriving on DVD August 6th.

Here’s a little more about Care Bears: A Belly Badge For Wonderheart - The Movie
In the magical world of Care-a-Lot, Wonderheart Bear wants to join the Cub Bouts, but it’s only for cubs with active Belly Badges. When she resorts to using the wishes from Care ‘n Share Charms to fake her powers, it leads to disastrous results. Her final wish accidentally lands her in the Moody Mountains in the center of a Stardust Storm! With the help of Grams Bear and her loving Care Bear friends, Wonderheart learns an important lesson about using the Belly Badge Beacon responsibly and discovers the joys of honesty and caring.

Check out this very cute trailer from the movie below…

Seriously, how can you not love those bears?  I know me and my girls adore them and if you and your little ones like the Care Bears as much as we do, then you’re definitely going to want to keep reading because one very lucky MIBR reader is going to win a copy of Care Bears: A Belly Badge For Wonderheart - The Movie on DVD!

Don’t forget, International Friendship Day is August 4th and Care Bears: A Belly Badge For Wonderheart - The Movie hits stores August 6th!

My children love Yo Gabba Gabba, it’s been one of their favorite children’s shows for a few years now and one of their absolute favorite things about the show, aside from the characters, is the music.  Through my blog, we’ve had the opportunity to enjoy Yo Gabba Gabba in so many ways through the years, from attending Yo Gabba Gabba Live (which you should definitely do if you ever have the chance), to interviewing one of the creators of the show Christian Jacobs, to reviewing several Yo Gabba Gabba products and with each new opportunity comes a whole new love for the show and the characters that my children already love so very much.

We had the opportunity recently to review the latest Yo Gabba Gabba Music is Awesome CD(Volume 4)  and just like the others before it, my kiddos couldn’t wait for me to pop it into the CD player so they could “ROCK”.  So earlier this week as we drove around looking at Christmas lights, the little ones rocked out to Yo Gabba Gabba Music is Awesome volume 4.  As with all of the Music is Awesome CDs Lil Man and Lil Diva rocked out until I turned the stereo off when we pulled into our driveway and they weren’t too awful excited about it.  Do your kiddos love Yo Gabba Gabba Music is Awesome?  If so check out the track list from the latest Music is Awesome installment, volume 4!

Polly_Pocket_Logo

You may have seen my post a couple of weeks back about Polly Pocket and how Lil Diva has discovered a new toy that she adores, well I have another pretty cool Polly Pocket play set to tell you all about!

A couple of weeks ago Lil Diva received another Polly Pocket shipment, this time the shipment contained a Polly Pocket Playtime Pet Shop Play Set and a Polly Pocket DVD.  Needless to say, Lil Diva wasted no time tearing the play set out of the box and playing with all of the “super cute” (the child’s been around me too long) animals and pieces of the Playtime Pet Shop Play Set.  Since the play set did require a little assembling so I popped in the Polly Pocket DVD for Lil Diva to watch while I figured everything out.  While I was concentrating on getting all of the Playtime Pet Shop pieces free and ready to play with, I did also definitely notice how much attention Lil Diva paid to the Polly Pocket DVD, if you know Lil Diva then you know how rare it is for her to sit still for more than a few minutes, so it was definitely a refreshing change.

Once the Polly Pocket DVD was over and I had successfully assembled the play set Lil Diva was ready to get to work playing with one of her new favorite toys—did I mention that she calls it “Polly Locket”?  Too cute.  As I mentioned in my last post, Polly Pocket has been a familiar name in our home for many years, first with my oldest daughters and now with Lil Diva…pretty refreshing to see a toy/brand go the distance, in my book, that means quality!  As a mom there are certain elements I look for in the toys that I choose for my children; Safety, Brand, Price, Quality.  With every toy purchase I make those attributes are ones that I look for time after time and with Polly Pocket I know that all four are met and even exceeded.  In addition to making the pieces bigger, something I really thought was a good idea when I spent hours picking up Polly Pocket pieces with my oldest daughters way back when, I love that all of the accessories come complete with suction cup bottoms now—definitely a major plus in my book.

Polly-Pocket-Collage

Aside from the fact that I do love the Polly Pocket brand, I also appreciate that Lil Diva loves the toys as much as I do—I mean, from a mom’s perspective of course.  Honestly, it doesn’t matter if I think a new children’s product is the best thing since sliced bread, if my children don’t also share that enthusiasm then I instantly know that it’s a product that’s not for them—thankfully all of my girls agree that Polly Pocket is here to stay and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

Disclosure:  “I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel Polly Pocket. I received a product samples and a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.”
