As a blogger I get to review some pretty cool products, a lot of time those products are for my kiddos, and occasionally we receive a product that instantly makes me “the coolest mom ever” (according to them anyway).  When we had the opportunity to review the hot new toy DaGeDar I had no idea that it would quickly become one of my kids all time favorite toys, but it SO did!

When I first heard of DaGeDar (which I have no idea how to pronounce by the way) I knew little about the product, but I did know that they were made by Cepia, the makers of one of my children’s favorite toys, Zhu Zhu Pets so I instantly knew they would be a hit!  Before I tell you our opinion of DaGeDar, let me tell you a little more about the toys!

From the moment you pick up a DaGeDar ball, you know it's something different. Drop the ball down the track and swoosh - you are hooked. This simple game of speed and skill is like no other. Innovative, thrilling, and addicting, all you want is more DaGeDar!

In Dimension 33, there live characters called DaGeDar™.

Powered through their emotional charge, DaGeDar™ break the veil from Dimension 33, which captures the DaGeDar™ spirits into a supercharged ball form.

Each character has a distinct personality trait; different motivations drive their races. They might use elemental powers of strength, cunning or their trader’s wit in their drive for victory.

When MomSelect offered me the chance to review some of the new DaGeDar toys I couldn’t resist and when they arrived here it only took a few minutes for me to see how HUGE these toys are going to be this holiday season!  We received a DaGeDar basic ball set, track set, launcher,a spinner and carrying case to review and it didn’t take long before we had the track set up, the launcher attached, and 4 kiddos ready to have some fun!  And while I could sit here all day and tell you how much my kiddos love these toys (and they do) I think seeing is truly believing so I’ll let you judge for yourself!

DaGeDar Battle Balls Review

In addition to the DaGeDar ball sets there are lots of very cool accessories to make playing with the DaGeDar balls so much more fun!  The Dual Top Speed Start Gate allows players to launch two balls at once with this dual launcher! Fire speeding balls at your opponent, or send them racing down the tracks for a wicked stunt.  The High Speed Stunt  Jump Track lets you send your balls into high gear with the looping High Speed Stunt Jump Track! Aim the starting slope to control your speed, then launch through the hoop and over the gap into the score funnel. This track is not for the faint of heart!  And you definitely need to check out the Two Lane Battle Jump Raceway that can balls hurtling down a near-vertical drop and into a high-speed loop! Launch over the gap and knock away your opponent on the way to the finish gate. Serious Ballers only!  With so many cool DaGeDar ball sets and accessories your child (or even you) will spend hours racing, jumping, and doing wicked awesome tricks!004

I think my oldest daughter said it best when she described DaGeDar as “kinda like cars on a racetrack, but SO much cooler”.  I was amazed at how well all of the kids seemed to like DaGeDar and how long the toys kept their attention.  I should probably admit that I loved playing with the DaGeDar balls as much as my kiddos, I found myself becoming strangely competitive with my children as we were all playing, I mean, reviewing the toys.  It’s not that often that I get so excited about my children reviewing a toy, but DaGeDar is just awesome and they agree!  As a matter of fact, this is one of the few toys I can remember (besides Zhu Zhu Pets because they LOVE them) that has kept my children’s attention for more than a few days and that is NOT an easy thing to do.  I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Cepia hit a home run with DaGeDar!!!

I have a feeling that DaGeDar will be at the top of lots of little boys (and little girls) holiday wish list!

You can purchase DaGeDar ball sets and accessories at Toys R Us and Walmart stores in Phoenix, AZ right now, but you can check the DaGeDar website to find out when DaGeDar will be hitting the toy store shelves in your area!

There are so many reasons why I love the holiday season, but none more than the chance to bring a smile to the face of a child.  While I may sometimes take for granted all of the things that my children have and focus on what we don't have the sad fact is that there are children all over this country who have little or nothing and that breaks my heart.  It has always been important to me to be able to help others; seeing my own mother struggle to raise my sister and I when we were younger makes me understand how important it is to give to those in need.  It's become very important to me that my own children understand that there are people everywhere in need daily and while they may never appreciate it as completely as I do I hope that they will take some of that compassion and caring with them as they grew into loving, kind, and caring adults.

Handing one of the boxes of Zhu Zhu Pets off to the Hometown Christmas chairperson Kay Marshall!

About a month ago I was informed that I was chosen by Cepia (the amazing company who makes the ever popular Zhu Zhu Pets) as one of the bloggers to participate in their “Random Acts of Zhu”.  Random Acts of Zhu was established last year by Cepia as a way to provide toys to children in need.  Each blogger chosen received 104 Zhu Zhu Pet toys to donate to a charity of his or her choice.  Perhaps the best thing about the Random Acts of Zhu is the fact that it allows the chosen bloggers to make an impact at the local level and I was very excited about that!

One of the children who attended our Hometown Christmas celebration proudly displaying her new Zhu Zhu Pet!
The town that I live in is a very small, country town (it's actually, officially called a village) we have one stop light, 2 nationally recognizable restaurants, 3 gas stations, and a Dollar General Store; no grocery stores, no Wal Mart...nothing.  I was born and raised here and have lived within a one block radius nearly my entire life.  I live on the same street that my mother grew up on, two houses down from my the house my great grandparents lived in when I was a baby...this town has history for me.  From the time I was very little I always dreamed of having my own children one day and raising them here, but our town has gone downhill fast and is only a shadow of what it was when I was younger.  Drugs have taken hold of our town in the worst way; from having friends that I've known since I was in diapers OD on drugs to seeing people that I went to school with wasting away from drugs...it's gotten extremely bad.  Add to that the fact that the  majority of the residents in our town have an income well below the poverty line and you start to see the picture I see daily.  Though the situations that the adults find themselves in are sad what's worse are the children who are subjected to all of the things that go on here on a daily basis, it breaks my heart to look at a child and know that his or her life is pure hell.

When I found out that I would be participating in Random Acts of Zhu I knew exactly where my donation would go, to our town's annual Hometown Christmas celebration!  For the past 20 years Kay Marshall has been orchestrating our Hometown Christmas and bringing holiday happiness to so many deserving families in not only our town, but the surrounding towns as well.  Aberdeen's Hometown Christmas is held annually, usually the second Saturday in December, and is a much anticipated highlight for the children of our town.  Each person in attendance is asked to bring a canned food donated for our local food bank, but no one is turned away for being unable to contribute.  In addition to the lighting of the town Christmas tree and carols there is a chili supper complete with chili, hot dogs, cookies, and drinks all generously donated and free to everyone.  One of the highlights of the evening is the visit from Santa, children (and their parents) line up eagerly anticipating their visit with Santa.  After having a chance to talk to Santa each child is given a bag of goodies (usually including some fruits and candy) and a toy or two (all donated by local businesses and individuals).  While Santa is for sure a big cause of excitement the undisputed highlight of the night for the kids is the opportunity to receive a toy or two.  Sadly our Hometown Christmas is as close as some of the children in attendance get to a real Christmas, and knowing that through my blog I helped to bring smiles to so many little faces that night warmed my heart! Thanks to Cepia I was able to donate 104 Zhu Zhu Pet toys to our Hometown Christmas celebration, having the chance to bring a little Christmas joy to so many deserving children is what the holidays are all about to me.  I hope that by being there and seeing all of the little faces light up with their new toys, my own children were inspired to give and give big whenever possible!

I'd like to take this chance to thank Cepia on behalf of the children of Aberdeen, you have no idea how much of a difference you made with a few small toys...thank you!
