With summer right around the corner it’s time to start thinking about bathing suits, summer dresses, fun stuff for the kids, and everything else that is HOT for summer, and who better to bring you all of the HOTTNESS than Misadventures in Baby Raising!!!  As I mentioned last week we will be bringing you 2 weeks of fun filled product reviews (of everything that will be scorching HOT this summer), drool worthy summer recipes, and HOT giveaways!  So slather on the sunscreen, pull out your shades, and kick back, relax, and get ready for the fun!

What’s HOT For Summer?  Well, there’s nothing better than winning right?  Actually there is something better than that…winning & giving!  XO Laptop Image 1

If your children are fans of Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks, and come on what child isn’t a fan, then I’m sure you’ve heard about the awesome “Win & Give” program and  their involvement with the One Laptop Per Child program.  For those of you who are not aware of the program let me bring you up to speed!

“Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks is proud to partner with One Laptop Per Child—a non-profit organization working to provide all children in developing countries with personal laptops.  By giving these children laptops, we are giving them the tools they need for a quality education.”

win & give

Now through the end of May children in the US have the chance to win a laptop from specially marked packages of Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks.  For each laptop won, Betty Crocker will in turn donate a matching laptop to a deserving child in Africa.  “Win & Give”--it really is that simple!

These XO laptops are built with rugged plastic exteriors, 1 GB of memory and 4 GB of Flash storage. They have wireless broadband and are designed to be extremely power efficient. They retail for $199 and the computer your reader wins is the exact same model that will be sent to children in Africa.  To find out how these laptops impact the lives of children in developing countries and ways that your children can become hero's to children in developing countries, visit WinOneGiveOne.com and don’t forget to look for specially marked packages of Betty Crocker Flavored Fruit Snacks for your chance to win&give!XO Laptop Image 2-1

How would you like to have the chance to not only win a XO laptop, but to play a part in sending a XO laptop to a child in Africa through the One Laptop Per Child program?  Well, since we here at MIBR think winning and giving are extremely HOT for summer…one MIBR reader is going to win a XO laptop (and when one of you win, a child in Africa is going to win as well)!!!

Win it!

  1. I have taught the kids since they were young enough to understand, what giving back means. It should be done without looking for a reward or praise. It should not be looked at as doing something for someone, but assisting them in making their life better and fulfilling. We stressed that giving back, means helping others and giving of themselves. It is an act of responsibly and not generosity. We have so many things that we do as a family.
We help out every 3rd Sat of each month for our Share Food Ministry, which helps feed 100 families in our community. We arrive at 7:00 am to help unload the semi truck, sort the boxes of food for the families to arrive at 9:00 am. During the Holidays our big guy Ty organizes a toy drive for the same families. It makes a big impact on the kids, they are developing people skills, making new friends, and they are learning that we are making a difference, by stepping up and doing something to help others.
Our guy Ty wanted to do a service project at the church, he felt it was a good project for them, because they always gave back to the community, and he wanted to give back to them. He made this into his BSA Eagle Project, he was able raise funds to purchase a variety of 32 trees, including a few fruit trees. He got a nice group together and they planted them all in one day. The church is very happy with the project.

  23. My kids know what itmeans to hve and have not, what it means to share and to give witout thinking selfish thoughts. My kids do many things- we do angel tree, we do senior homes, boxes for the troops but I think the favorite is when my kids go work on yards of senior citizens in the summer and do not charge them- they know they should not be in the heat. I do not get into their deals but am proud of what they do.

  129. My kids have been taught since birth the importance of giving back. They are quite aware how much more they have than others in the world. For years now we have volunteered at the food bank, taken part in the community baby shower, as well as donating and collecting for the local version of toys for tots. I have been so proud of my kids for handing over their own things to other kids that otherwise would not have the opportunity to have it. I can't tell you how many times my kids have opened up presents and insisted that they go to another child instead. I can only hope that my kids will continue to be kind and help others in need! Thanks for the great giveaway!

We believe that libraries are of critical importance and public funds just aren't enough to make all of the repairs necessary. We give back by doing repairs, volunteering at book sales and donating to our local libraries.
