Show Your Helping Hand with Tim McGraw {+Giveaway}

This time of year most of us are ultra aware of the issue of hunger in our country, whether through the pleas on television or those from the food banks in our own communities it just seems to be in our thoughts more this time of the year.  To be completely honest I do what I can to donate to my local food pantry, but I know just remembering around Thanksgiving and Christmas is not nearly enough.  

Did you know that during any given week approximately 5.7 million families receive emergency food assistance from Feeding America?  (Data provided by Feeding America)  That number makes my stomach turn, knowing that there are that many families in such dire need of assistance with one of our most basic needs.  That is why I am so excited to be helping Feeding America (through MyBlogSpark) to help raise awareness of the national issue of hunger.  Hamburger Helper is doing their part as well, they are joining forces with GRAMMY award-winning country singer/songwriter and actor Tim McGraw to help Feeding America deliver millions of meals to local food banks through the Show Your Helping Hand™ campaign. Tim McGraw will be lending his voice to the campaign through PSA’s that will be distributed nationwide in an effort to bring awareness to this problem!  You can check out the PSA below!

YOU can help Feeding America and Tim McGraw in their effort to help feed hungry families across the country!  You can submit codes from specially marked boxes of Hamburger Helper at www.showyourhelpinghand.com or simply log in and leave a donation.  Hamburger Helper has already donated more than half a million dollars and will be contributing up to an additional $100,000 through the Show Your Helping Hand campaign!  Worried that your one code won’t make a difference?  Chew on this…for every code you submit, 17 cents will be donated by Hamburger Helper to Feeding America, that 17 cents is enough to deliver one meal to a local food bank…so there really are no donations too small!

As someone who grew up in a household where money was always tight and dinner was often a meal my mother created out of what little bit we had in our cabinets, I know first hand what it’s like to wonder if there will be enough dinner to go around.  Admitting you need help is not an easy thing to do, but lending a hand to help those in need is.  That is why I am so honored to have even a small hand at helping make sure that local families who are in need will not go hungry.  So thank you Hamburger Helper for donating $10 on my behalf for participating in this campaign!
