Gymboree has long been one of my go-to brands for buying children’s clothes, no matter the season, Gymboree always has super cute, on-trend clothes that my kids love for a value that I appreciate! This back-to-school season wouldn’t have been complete without my kiddos headed off to school in their Gymboree best and I’m so glad that they decided to be part of our back-to-school blowout!
If you’re not familiar with Gymboree (and if have little ones I’m not sure how you couldn’t be) they sell quite possibly the cutest children’s clothes and accessories (and even uniforms) available in sizes newborn to 12 years. In addition to having some of the most adorable clothes for kids I’ve ever seen, Gymboree’s clothing is super high-quality at a great value—if you haven’t had a chance to check them out, I definitely encourage you to do so, you’ll be so very glad that you did.
We had a chance recently to check out some of what Gymboree has to offer for summer and fall and it was perfect timing for back-to-school so we took the opportunity to snag a few great additions to Lil Man and Sporty Spice’s back-to-school wardrobe. One of my favorite things about Gymboree is that each season they have several different collections filled with new outfit and mix and match pieces to chose from. Having options is something that makes this Mommy very happy and I love that they give you options, while also giving you outfit suggestions it kind of takes the guess work out of what will and won’t work together and it’s a huge time saver! My children have very different styles when it comes to clothing, but I know that I’ll always be able to find a collection that my kids love without stressing myself out running to a million different stores—major plus in my book!
Sporty Spice is definitely a sporty kind of girl, but she also loves frilly, sparkly, girly things too. Since SS is going into 6th grade this year her style has changed a little bit from the super cute to more edgy, but when she saw the Glitter Koala Corsage Tee and matching Tropical Flower shorts she knew she just “had to have it”. I love that the tee is cutesy while not being too cute, SS loves animals and she has a soft spot for koala bears so this one was a win—win! And the fact that we picked up the whole outfit on sale for less than $20 made it even better!
My Lil Man is all boy and he loves everything from superheroes to skateboarding and his style is definitely reflective of those things. While my son may be all boy, he’s also incredibly picky when it comes to the clothes he wears, I swear sometimes he’s even pickier than the girls—seriously. Since my son is so particular about his clothes I tend to chose comfortable clothing that show off his style, while also keeping him happy in them and it’s not always so easy. I love the Shark Patrol collection from Gymboree and my son, who loves sharks, thought it was just the coolest thing ever as well. Seriously y’all, how stinkin’ adorable is the Jawsome tee? I paired it with a classic pair of jeans and the super cute Asteroid Blue Plaid Roll-Cuff shirt (which is part of the Space Voyager collection), I don’t know about you, but I think he definitely makes this outfit look too cute!
The last look I put together features skateboarding as the inspiration and it was by far and away Lil Man’s favorite of the looks I put him in. There’s just something about a super crisp pair of khaki shorts paired with a bright, colorful shirt that I love and the combination of the Street Surfer Skateboarding shirt with the Skateboard Belted Patch Shorts. My son loves belts, I swear he’s more of a clothes horse than all of my girls combined, and he loved that these khaki shorts feature a belt, I love them because they' are so easy to pair with so many different tees and when you’re working with a budget the ability to mix and match is super important and Gymboree makes that so easy!
I never can say enough good things about Gymboree, they really are one of my favorite brand for children’s clothing and I’m always extremely pleased with the quality of their clothes, the value for my money and the smiles on my kiddos faces when they head off to school in their Gymboree best—that alone is reason enough for me to love them!
Don’t forget to Like Gymboree on Facebook and Follow Gymboree on Twitter for the latest deals, updates and goodies!
Disclosure: I received a gift card to help facilitate my review from the brand or PR…all opinions are 100% my own and were not influenced by anyone, unless you count my kids, they kind of had a little bit to do with how much I love this company!

Happy 6th Birthday Little Man…Mommy loves you to the moon and back!

A few weeks ago DT came to me and told me that she’s already been looking at Homecoming dresses, you can imagine my confusion when in the middle of July she felt compelled to tell me she was already dress shopping for a dance that wouldn’t even be happening until early next year, but I took it as a good sign that she was excited enough about homecoming and all of the other “cool” aspects of high school that she wasn’t freaking out about becoming a Freshman in just a few short weeks…it’s the little victories I tell ya. Not wanting to discourage her excitement I asked her to show me a few of her favorite dresses, so today we sat down at the computer and spent a little time “window shopping” and bonding over all things frilly, girly and fun.
One of the first dress sites we came to was DressFirst and I have to admit, they have so many absolutely gorgeous dresses that even I as a soon-to-be bride (don’t get too excited, my husband and I will be renewing our vows in 2015) fell instantly in love with. Drama Teen and I have completely different styles, she likes wild and different and likes to push the envelope a little more than I do, but I was both shocked and excited that she and I agreed on how beautiful some of the dresses were. One of our favorites was an A-Line/Princess Sweetheart Asymmetrical dress in chiffon, it is stunningly beautiful and was the one dress that we both were instantly drawn to, it’s gorgeous…no?
While scrolling through page after page filled with wonderful colors and exquisite materials, my daughter and I realized that when there are so many beautiful things to choose from, it’s not always easy to pick just one. Drama Teen found dress after dress on the DressFirst website that she just “had” to have and while she never did manage to narrow her choices down to one (we ended our online window shopping marathon with a list of ten different dresses that she “needed” to have), she did manage to make me feel almost comfortable with knowing that she’s growing up…almost.
While I’ll probably never stop being emotional when it comes to my children and I’m positive that the realizations that I come to as they get older won’t end anytime soon (if ever), I do know that I’m raising some pretty great kids who never cease to amaze me and for that I’m always grateful. Well for that and dresses, because when all else fails, you should definitely go dress shopping!

I’m not sure if he realizes or not at such a young age, but he truly has my heart, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect son for me than my Lil Man…he’s always gonna make this momma proud!

I think I might be one of the only parents in the world who doesn’t believe that technology is a bad thing for their kids. I mean, I do believe that there is definitely a lot of technology dependency with kids, but for the most part I think that letting your children use their iPod’s and iPhone’s to download apps and play, is perfectly healthy. My kiddos all have iPod’s and smart phones and tablets, so they’re constantly downloading apps so whenever I get the chance to check out a new app, they’re always the first in line to try them out…which is exactly what happened when I told them about Zimmiz.
About Zimmiz…
Zimmiz, is an out of this world app that gives your children (the app is designed for children 4 and up) a virtual friend to laugh with.
Like any young friend, Zimmiz shows a range of playful emotions and reactions – 300+ animations and responses! Zimmiz laughs when tickled, forgets to cover his mouth when he sneezes, closes his eyes when he gets tired, becomes annoyed when poked, blows bubbles with gum, sings, repeats, fogs up the screen, chokes on his food, burps and even…farts! When Zimmiz is dropped, held upside down or given a little shake, he may laugh, get dizzy, or, worse, get sick! Children simply slide open his mouth to access cool games – and they can make their Zimmiz entirely their own by customizing its eyes and skin color as well as the shape of its nose, lips, teeth and signature birthmark with millions of possible combinations! Zimmiz owners can save the unique look that they create for their Zimmiz “freemium” app and, for just $0.99, they can change the look of their Zimmiz as often as they like.
In addition to the app, there’s also the Zimmiz plush, a specially-designed plush toy featuring pose-able hands and antennas as well as a pocket for snuggly slipping the iPhone inside is now available at BuildABear.com! We recently had the chance to check out both the app and the adorable Zimmiz plush and I have to say, I haven’t had this much fun doing a review, in a long time. I LOVE the facial expressions (which are very lifelike) I just had to share some of the ones I managed to capture…adorable isn’t it?
Before the Zimmiz plush arrived for my review, I downloaded the Zimmiz app just to try it out and had a blast. When my Zimmiz plush arrived, I almost couldn’t believe how much more adorable Zimmiz became…seriously, if you download the app for your kids (and I suggest you do…it’ s just so darn cute) and they love it, then you must get the Zimmiz plush…it’s like the most adorable thing you’ve ever seen times 10!
You can download the Free Zimmiz app in the App Store on iPod and iPhone…(an Android version is in the works). The Zimmiz plush is available at Build-a-Bear Workshop for $20.00. Want to see what all of the talk is about? Check out the Zimmiz Demo below.
How cute is that? My Lil Diva could sit and play with the Zimmiz plush and app for hours, I’m pretty sure that means she likes it. Make sure you check out Zimmiz on Facebook!

It’s no secret that 2012 wasn’t a great year for me, but I’m so excited to see what 2013 brings for me and my family. Our NYE party wasn’t as hard core as most, but we had a blast none-the-less!
My absolute favorite picture of the night, our 4 “big kids” (as we call them), words can’t express how much these kids mean to me!

In the middle of writing a review, which I am desperately behind in at the moment due to the flu that kicked our houses ass last week, I hear my four year old’s footsteps as she runs down the hallway to tell me that her “TV is broke” and in the amount of time it takes her to make it from her bedroom to my computer desk, I realize that her footsteps sound so different, they didn’t sound like the baby footsteps that I have grown so used to hearing for the past few years, no, these are definitely different, yet also very familiar…
…that’s when I realize that my baby is no longer a baby. And not only is she no longer a baby, but she’s growing up, into one of the Big Kids, and I’m not sure if I should be excited that I no longer have “babies” running around and that my diapering days are pretty much done, or if I should be sad that I don’t have babies running around anymore and that I don’t have to ever buy diapers again (at least not for a long, long while, hey SS and DT, y’all hear that? no babies, no time soon…), it’s one of those times when being a mommy is hardest.
I love that Lil Diva is growing up and she’s growing up into such a confident, smart, gorgeous, independent, amazing little girl who drives me crazy, but I couldn’t imagine living life without, but the fact that she’s my baby and she’s not really a baby anymore, that’s a another story.
Maybe it’s because somewhere deep inside I know that she’ll be my last, mostly because 6 kids is expensive enough, but also because my husband and I both agree that no matter how much we love babies (and I adore them), the smartest thing for us to do is concentrate on raising the ones we’ve got. I mean, it makes all the sense in the world when you see it written in black and white, but it does little to comfort the part of me that needs them to be small so that I can protect them forever.
And to be honest, it’s not just Lil Diva who is growing up; Drama Teen, my oldest, will be 14 in a few months and in high school before I know it and my precious little Sporty Spice is already in middle school and growing up a little faster every day and Lil Man is already in kindergarten and he’s reading (I still can’t believe that the boy who barely knew his ABC’s 3 months ago is reading and writing and well, growing up…they all are and I’m sitting here watching it all unfold, wishing that I could slow time down a little, hoping that if I just hold on for a little while longer they’ll decide to stay little and be Mommy’s babies forever, but then I realize that the truest test of our mothering skills is letting our kids go out into the world and seeing what they do in it.
I constantly question how I’m doing as a mom; “Do I curse too much?”, “Do I yell too much?”, “Am I sending the right messages?”, “Am I teaching them the right things?” and most of the time i don’t know the answers to those questions, none of us do really, but last week I got confirmation that I’m doing something right…
…last week was parent/teacher conferences here and aside from being told that DT and SS talk too much (wonder where they get that from?) I’m always proud of my kids when I leave, but after my meeting with Lil Man’s kindergarten teacher I was in tears…good tears mind you. Aside from telling me how proud she was of Lil Man’s progress she told me that he was a pretty good, pretty special little kid…apparently there is a special needs child in Lil Man’s classroom that my son has taken under his wing, his teacher said that the little boy adores Lil Man and that Lil Man makes sure that the little boy gets in line when he’s supposed to and helps him whenever he can, sits with him at lunch and plays with him on the playground, she said that Lil Man was very protective over this little boy (which wasn’t a surprise to me since he’s so protective over his sister) and that I should be very proud of what a great kid I have…and I was proud, beaming even, but that wasn’t the conformation, that came later that night when I was tucking Lil Man into bed. As I told my son how proud I was of him for being such a big helper to his friend he looked at me and said…
“Mom, I need to take care of that little boy.” so I asked him why and he told me, “because, that’s what I’m supposed to do!”. That’s when the tears came, right then, right in that moment I knew that I was doing an ok job, that I might not be Mom of the Year, but that I was raising four amazing kids…and that’s enough for me.
Oh, the footsteps and Lil Diva growing up, that’s still new to me, I think I’ll play that one by ear…

Sporty Spice is all about looking fashionable and don’t let the nickname fool you, she may be one of the best athletes I know, but she is also a major fashionista! Given her Diva tendencies, SS has a definite need to look her best, that means that not only do her clothes have to be spot on, but her accessories do as well, right down to her backpack.
When I found out that I would be doing a review for The North Face (which is one of my favorite companies…like, ever) I was super excited and since SS’s backpack broke 3 weeks into the school year the review couldn’t have come at a better time. Since we’re all quite familiar with The North Face, one of my all-time favorite fleece jackets is from The North Face and I’m pretty sure that in a fire, I would grab my jacket first…alright I’d grab my kids first, but my jacket would come next, Sporty Spice knew that she would not only be getting a highly functional, well-made backpack (that wouldn’t break in a week or two), she knew that it would also be killer (that’s her word for like, awesome). For those of you who are unfamiliar with The North Face, let me take this opportunity to get you acquainted.
About The North Face
The North Face, named for the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain, began on a beach in San Francisco in 1966 when two hiking enthusiasts decided to start their own mountaineering retail store. Over the years The North Face has expanded their line from hiking equipment to products for nearly outdoor activity and sport known to man. With almost 40 years of outfitting extreme athletes under their belts, The North Face offers their fans an extensive line of performance apparel, equipment and footwear.
The North Face is constantly coming up with new and innovative materials, designs and construction to provide their fans with the best in outdoor equipment and apparel. In addition to striving to bring new and innovative products and materials to the masses, The North Face also has a deep passion for protecting the environment that inspires their passion and reminds them to Never Stop Exploring!
The North Face very kindly sent us their Happy Camper backpack to review a few weeks ago and as I mentioned earlier, it couldn’t have come at a better time as the zipper on the backpack Sporty Spice got for school this year decided to break around the same time. I know I say this a lot when I do product reviews, but I really do love not only this backpack, but the company itself. The Happy Camper backpack is a child-size version of the adult Borealis Backpack, this scaled-down model is big enough to hold standard size folders, but still small enough as not to overwhelm elementary age children with its size. I was a little unsure upon opening the backpack, that it would fit all of Sporty Spice’s books and various odds-and-ends, but she’s been nothing but pleased with the backpack. I also have to mention that given her affinity for all things sporty, she loves that this backpack isn’t all glitter and frills, she likes that the backpack serves its purpose, while still having enough flare to separate it from most of her classmates backpacks—sounds like a win to me! The Happy Camper backpack is available in 5 different colors/patterns and retails for $45…a small price to pay for what SS and I think is as close to backpack perfection as it gets! If you’re on the lookout for a kids backpack, then I definitely suggest checking out The North Face and hey, make sure you pick up one of their fleece jackets while you’re there….you’ll thank me later!
Also make sure you check out The North Face on Facebook and Follow The North Face on Twitter!

When it comes to Halloween costumes, sometimes my kids want to go overboard and by overboard I mean crazy things like heels I wouldn’t be caught dead in and crazy cosmetic contact lenses. My oldest daughter has been driving me crazy to order her these creepy looking cosmetic lenses for weeks now and while I keep saying “NO!” she keeps insisting…until I showed her the press release that came into my inbox yesterday. After reading about the scary side effects of cosmetic lenses, she’s sorta changed the direction of her Halloween costume…hmm, who woulda thought that a press release could have helped me win that battle…still working on finding a press release to help me win the war that is parenting a teen…stay tuned. In the meantime, you can check out some of the possible side effects of cosmetic lenses, you know, just in case you’re waging the same battle with your teen.
“The American Academy of Ophthalmology warns parents and teenagers about the dangers of wearing non-prescription decorative contact lenses, which can lead to eye damage or vision loss due to improper fitting.
To keep your child’s eyes safe:
· Kids should receive a complete eye exam yearly by an eye care professional and obtain a valid contact lens prescription, even for cosmetic lenses
· Decorative lenses should never be worn without an eye exam and a prescription
· Contact lenses should never be shared with another person
· Be sure to wash hands thoroughly with mild soup before insertion and never wear them for longer than recommended
· Examine lenses before putting them in your eye – they should be moist, clean, clear and free from any nicks or tears
· Remove lenses immediately if you experience eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes and redness and consult your eye care professional immediately “
Check out this list of Contact Lens Dos and Don’ts from ACUVUE or if podcasts are more you thing you can check out BlogTalkRadio’s Healthy Vision podcast for safe wear and care of contact lenses.

Forgive me if this is a little on the wordy side, but not every day is your youngest child’s birthday…right?
Today is my Lil Diva’s 4h birthday, most of you are probably unaware of how this blog started, but if I weren’t for Diva, it may not even exist. You see next month will be my blog’s 4th birthday as well and it was actually Lil Diva who inspired my blog, well she inspired my need for an outlet anyway…who knew!
Though Lil Diva may make me crazy 95% of the time, she’s one of the smartest, most beautiful, most awesome little kids I know and she’s growing into an amazing young lady! So Happy 4th Birthday to my gorgeous Lil Diva…mommy loves you!

Since I haven’t been around much lately (long, boring story that involves the flu and houseguests) I thought what better way to get back in the swing of things than by participating in Wordless Wednesday!
As some of you may know, Lil Man started Kindergarten this year, he absolutely loves school and I couldn’t be happier, anyway, the picture below is of Lil Man earlier this week, the kids are on break all this week (county fair—only in Ohio I bet) and he’s still so eager to learn!!!
For those of you having a hard time, he wrote Purple all by himself with no help writing or spelling…so proud of my boy!

Five years ago today I gave birth to the cutest, sweetest, most amazing little boy I know! I can’t believe that the past 5 years have gone by so fast, it seems like only yesterday I was pregnant with my lil man and now he’s getting ready to start kindergarten in a few weeks…it just doesn’t seem possible.
God absolutely knew what he was doing when he sent me you and I’m thankful and so proud every single day to be able to say that I’m your mommy!
I love you SO much my baby boy and I hope that your birthday is as amazing as special as you are!
Happy Birthday Lil Man!

I love the weekends, no matter what we’re doing, we’re having a blast simply because we’re hanging out with each other…though to be fair, we’re usually fishing (SO not my thing btw).
Anyway, this weekend Lil Man learned to ride a bike… a big bike, without training wheels! Last year for his birthday, Lil Man chose a big wheel over a bike so he’s never even had a smaller bike to practice on, but that didn’t stop Lil Man, with the help of his big sister K, Lil Man was riding on his own in less than 20 minutes!
I have to say, I am very, very proud of my Lil Boo Boo, but I’m also kinda sad that he’s growing up so quickly…I know all of you moms out there can relate to that one.
Isn’t he the cutest thing ever…alight, I may be a bit bias, but come on, admit it, he’s one heck of a handsome boy!

I hope everyone had an amazing time celebrating the holiday season with family and friends! We’ve had a few issues with sick kiddos and toothaches, but we made the best of it and had an awesome time!
I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorite memories from this Christmas with all of you..enjoy!
