Wordless Wednesday...Fourth of July Weekend Day 2

Since it rained all day on Saturday the 4th all of our plans were changed, but we still managed to have a blast setting off fireworks for the kids...in the rain of course! Enjoy!

Fourth of July weekend Day 1!

I have something to admit...now that July 4th is over I'm a little sad. I get this way every summer, I get so excited at the beginning of summer and then after the 4th I just seem to get depressed because it means that summer break is almost halfway over. I'll get over it I suppose...and the next best thing I guess is to tell you about my July 4th weekend...which rocked!

On Friday the family and I went to Longs Retreat which is a big lake with a beach and campground with lots of little extras for the kids...go carts, rock climbing wall, miniature golf. The kids had a blast and so did the adults and I promised myself that I wouldn't mentioned Taylor and I getting stuck in a paddle boat in the middle of the lake for half an hour...so embarrassing! Here are some pictures from that day.

Everyone had so much fun that day...I'm pretty sure that the adults had as much fun as the kids (I know I did).

LeapFrog Letter Factory Review

As my son gets older I notice his need for educational stimulation more and more when it comes to the movies and television shows that he watches. If he's watching a television show and there's no music or interaction then nine times out of ten he'll walk away to find something more interesting to do! There are a number of brands that are go-to brands for me when it comes to incorporating fun an

d education but the one brand that never fails to fulfill both needs is LeapFrog. So when I was asked to review one of the LeapFrog DVDs I jumped at the chance!

Starting May 12 Lionsgate is teaming up with Leapfrog to release two of their best selling titles, LeapFrog Letter Factory and LeapFrog Talking Words Factory. The LeapFrog brand is known for producing high quality, entertaining, and educational products for children and these DVD's combine music and stories to help children become excited about learning to read. Both titles are available today and retail for $14.98 each.

We were able to review the LeapFrog Letter Factory which teaches

letters, phonics, and listening skills. The popular Leap, Lily, and Tad (we love Tad at our house) have a crazy adventure in the Letter Factory and its non stop energy from beginning to end! I was amazed at how quickly Gaige picked up on the songs and started saying the letters. Of course I was very pleased that everything was set to music because Gaige won't usually pay attention to a television show or movie unless there is music and singing. Overall we were very pleased with the LeapFrog Letter Factory my son laughed, sang, danced, and best of all learned several letters of the alphabet that I have been having a difficult time teaching him. So if you're looking for a great DVD that's both fun and educational I would absolutely suggest this title!

Snow Days...and my first time on a sled!

I am not what you would consider adventurous, in fact I am the complete opposite of adventurous! I'm not spontaneous...doing something at the spur of the moment without days or weeks of planning is a foreign concept to me. I'm not the life of the party (Oh I know you so wanted to think that I was, but I'm not)... I am perfectly content watching everyone else go crazy on the dance floor while I sit happily tapping my feet to the music. I hate thrill rides at theme parks...roller coasters scare the crap out of me and I can't stop thinking I'm going to die long enough to enjoy myself ( I am such a wuss) the merry-go-round is about as wild as I'm willing to get. So it's just a given that I've never been sledding down a huge, snow covered hill, screaming my head off, and having the time of my life...UNTIL this week.

On Tuesday we had the mother of all snow/ice storms. When all was said and done we had a total of 10 inches on our front lawn. Of course schools were closed, my fiance couldn't get to work, and there was nothing else to do but suck it up, pile on layers of warm clothes and go outside and play...and play we did.

This is Tay-Tay (she wasn't interested in sledding, all she wanted to do was eat the snow) and Nay-Nay in the background getting ready to go down our neighbor's huge hill.
