Holiday Gift Guide: Fisher-Price iJig Interactive Electronic Puzzle System {Win It!}

My Lil Diva is at home with me everyday (due to her birthday falling just after the cutoff for kindergarten, she gets an extra year with Mommy…I am NOT complaining) and trying to keep a 5 year old entertained isn’t always as easy as one might think.  Since Diva’s days will be much more structured once she enters kindergarten, I try to keep her busy with both structured and free play and when she has the chance one of her absolute favorite things to do is putting  together puzzles.  All of my children definitely get their love of puzzle building from me, it’s nothing for me to buy a 1500 piece puzzle and spend every free moment putting it  together, it’s very therapeutic, and that love has rubbed off on my kids.  One of the reasons I encourage puzzle building as much as I do, especially with Lil Diva, is because it combines education (problem solving, learning patience, hand-eye coordination) with fun and that’s a win—win for both of us!




While traditional wooden puzzles are the ones I usually choose for Lil Diva, I couldn’t resist trying out the new iJig Interactive Electronic Puzzle System from Fisher-Price, when I was given the chance.  You’d think since trying out new toys is just part of the blogging gig (at least it has been for me), I wouldn’t get overly excited with another one, but nope, that’s so not the case, because I couldn’t wait to get out the iJig and try it out…and I’m not even ashamed to admit that Lil Diva was no where to be found while I was playing.  Before I get into more detail about the iJig, I thought I’d show you a little demo of the iJig at work…you’re going to love this one…I promise!

Holiday Gift Guide: Fisher-Price Skate & Spin Dora and Boots

Nickelodeon has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl (I still remember the hours I spent watching my favorite shows on that channel when I was younger) and now it's the channel of choice for my little ones as well.  Through the years Nickelodeon has brought so many fun and special characters into our homes and ultimately our hearts, but none has stayed the course like the beloved Dora the Explorer. 

I remember when my oldest daughters sat quietly on the couch watching Dora and her best friend Boots go on their outrageous adventures, I remember the first time each of my four children said their first Spanish word thanks to Dora and I remember the way my youngest daughter's eyes lit up on her first Christmas when she received a plush Dora that was almost bigger than her; to say Dora is special to us, would be a huge understatement.  It seems like Dora and Boots have been a part of Christmases at our house for as long as we've been a family and this Christmas, is no exception.  Thanks to the some of the awesome people on Nickelodeon's PR team, we got to try out several items from their Holiday Gift Guide, including the totally awesome Skate & Spin Dora and Boots from Fisher-Price!

I'm not usually that mom who gets all excited about toys (you seen one, you've seen them all), but this toy is a little different, I couldn't wait to get it out of the box and try it out before Diva got her little hands on it.  Skate & Spin Dora and Boots is one of those toys that you just can’t help but want to play with, it’s just so darn cool and so cute. I have to give Fisher-Price props for making the Skate & Spin Dora and Boots so easy to operate, you can switch between the two modes (Dance and Free Play) on the bottom of Dora’s skate and you start play by pressing the heart located on top of Dora’s skate—super easy, which is very important when you have a very impatient little one who doesn’t really want to take the time to “learn” to play with a new toy. I also love that the two toys can skate together in a variety of ways including holding hands and in a conga line with both Dora and Boots having the ability to lead the line at your child’s discretion.
