clip_image002If you read my last post you know that 2011 is all about reinventing yourself and taking the necessary steps to make you more fabulous and more healthy!  I thought I’d share another great way to eat great without completely throwing yourself off track!  Are you familiar with Arnold and Oroweat Sandwich Thins?  If not, you’ll definitely want to pay attention to this!

Arnold and Oroweat Sandwich Thins are thin rolls that give you all of the flavor of traditional sandwich rolls without the guilt!  These sandwich thins are round sandwich-sized flatbreads and are the perfect base for your favorite sandwich!  The Sandwich Thins are sold under the Arnold brand name here in the East and the Oroweat brand name in the West.  The Sandwich Thins are available in 8 varieties including 100% Whole Wheat, Multi-Grain, Made With Whole Wheat White, 100% Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin, and many more delicious and good for you varieties!

So what makes Arnold and Oroweat Sandwich Thins so much better than traditional sandwich rolls?  Simple, it’s what’s inside (and what’s not) that makes all of the difference.  Each serving of Arnold and Oroweat Sandwich Thins pack at least 6 grams of whole grain, the thins are an excellent source of fiber, do not contain high fructose corn syrup and are only 100 calories each!  If that’s not a great way to watch your calorie intake and not sacrifice flavor then I don’t know what is!

I was sent two varieties of Arnold’s Sandwich Thins to review; the 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins Rolls and 100% Whole Wheat Flax & Fiber Sandwich Thins Natural Rolls.  I was eager to try both of these varieties as I hadn’t had them before and honestly they were very good and added so much more texture and flavor to the sandwiches we made with them.  I love that you can eat something as simple as a sandwich yet turned up a notch all the while knowing that the bread is actually made with thins that are good for you.

Arnold and Oroweat Sandwich Thins shared some tasty recipes from Food Network Chef Claire Robinson using their sandwich thins with me and I thought that you might be interested in them as well!

4 Arnold® or Oroweat® Whole Grain White Sandwich Thins® rolls

1 pound ground chicken

3/4 cup non-fat Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons hot sauce, or to taste

4 ounces low-fat blue cheese, crumbled

Kosher salt, to taste

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Season ground chicken with salt and pepper to taste and mix in 1/4 cup water. Shape meat into 4 patties and set aside. Heat a non-stick griddle pan or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and sear until golden; meat will release when ready to flip. Flip patties and cover until fully cooked, about 8 more minutes.

Meanwhile, mix yogurt with hot sauce. Spread mix on bottom half of Sandwich Thins® roll then add cooked patty. Next, sprinkle blue cheese among burgers and top with Arnold or Oroweat Sandwich Thins® roll. Eat and Enjoy!

Yield: 4 sandwiches

BYOC – Be your own chef MOMENT: Add a crunchy vegetable, like watercress or finely chopped celery, to the ground burger.
