**I was sent the above mention product from the company or PR for my review.  All opinions expressed are my own and were not influence by monetary gain.**

Try as I might, I always seem to find myself at a loss when it comes to gift giving for my 12 year old step-son.  I mean after a certain age cars and guns just won't work anymore and there are only so many video games you can buy, make that age-appropriate video games that you can buy.  That's why I was so glad when I discovered Red Toolbox!

If you've never heard of Red Toolbox, well you're in luck, because I happen to know a few things about them...and if you have a tween boy to buy for this holiday you might want to pay extra special attention!  Red Toolbox is a specially designed line of tools and carpentry kits for kids, the kits recently became available in the US and are sold exclusively at Lowe's stores.  The line of specially designed products that offer "quality time in a box" for children and their parents.  The tool kits include a variety of tools and are ergonomically designed just for a child's grip.  The line features a variety of carpentry kit and tools, the kits feature Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced projects so that your child can move on to more difficult projects as their skills increase.

First off can I just say how much I love the whole, "quality time in a box" that Red Toolbox allows?  There never seems to be enough time for the kids to spend with Daddy and every chance they jump at it, the fact that the kits in the Red Toolbox line are designed to be used with adults means that much more time spent with Dad (or Mom if she's the handy one around your house).  We received several products from Red Toolbox for our review.  I have to admit that my step-son hasn't had the chance to use this yet, as it seems like we've been busy every weekend that they've been here since my review items arrived, but I hope that while Daddy is off for a week over Christmas (yay by the way)  the Red Toolbox tools and kits will be put to good use!  I'll make sure I let you know when he's constructed his kits (and with his permission) share pictures of those kits with all of you!  Below you can check out the 3 products that we received!

Red Toolbox 10-piece tool set

*A MUST for any child and parent DIY duo
*Tools ergomonically designed to fit a child's grip
*  Set includes classic tools such as a hammer, screwdrivere, file, saw, and measuring tape
*  Tool belt, two 2" clamps, and safety goggles also included
Suggested Retail Price:  $ 19.99

Red Toolbox carpentry kits start at $9.98!

So if you're looking for a last minute gift to get the young man in your life make sure you check out Red Toolbox!  They're the perfect gift for the boy in your life make sure you check out Red Toolbox, exclusively at Lowes!

My children all love soda (or pop as we call it here in Ohio), the problem is that I don’t often allow then to drink anything with a lot of sugar in it.  You can’t imagine how many times I hear, “But Mom, all of my friends are allowed to drink pop!” from my oldest daughters.  No matter how many times I have to listen to their angry pleas I stick to my guns and tell them NO!  Though I don’t allow my kiddos to drink soda that often I have always thought it would be cool to have a soda machine at home but could never find one that I liked until I found Soda Stream!

Soda Stream lets you turn water into fresh sparkling water and soda in just a few easy steps!  If you’ve ever wanted to know how you can make soda at home Soda Stream is perfect for you…it’s fun, fast, and tastes fantastic!  Here’s some more about Soda Stream from their website:

Making carbonated water and soft drinks is simple! Turn tap water into sparkling water in under 30 seconds, with no clean-up. Enjoy the freshness and convenience of homemade soda and protect the environment at the same time. No heavy bottles to carry, store at home or throw away. Fizz to your taste and add the flavor of your choice to make your favorite drink. Simple to clean and reuse. With a variety of colors and silhouettes, you'll be sure to find a soda maker to match with any decor.

Just a few of the many reasons I love Soda Stream:

Soda Stream soda makers are fun and easy to use (my 8 year old is an expert at making soda she could probably show you a thing or two)

There are SO many flavors to choose from!

Varieties include regular flavors (Cola, Cherry Cola, Lemon Lime, Energy Drink), diet flavors (Diet Fountain Mist, Diet Pete’s Choice, Diet Energy Drink), MyWater Essence Flavors (Lemon Lime, Mint, Berry) and so many more!
Making your favorite soda, flavored sparkling water or energy drink is simple, with SodaStream's wide variety of over 30 sodamix syrups including dozens of regular, diet and caffeine-free options. Flavors include classics like cola, lemon-lime, and root beer...Exotic fruit flavors like orange mango and diet pink grapefruit...Energy drink, sparkling iced teas and cocktail mixers. Each bottle of sodamix makes about 12 liters of soda (about 33 cans!) for around 25 cents per 12-ounce can.

The bottles are specially designed for Soda Stream’s makers and they are reusable and can last up to 2 years!

Soda Stream is Earth Friendly!

SodaStream is an "Active Green" product, meaning that consumers  are actively reducing their CO2 footprint every time they make soda  or sparkling water at home instead of buying it from the store.

I received the Fountain Jet from Soda Stream to review.  You know how I mentioned that I don’t like to give my kids soda?  Well Soda Stream has that covered as well with their new line of  all-natural soda mixes!  The Sparkling Naturals line is great because you don’t have to feel bad about giving your kids the occasional soda, but what’s even better is that it’s all natural, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no artificial sweeteners, and no preservatives!  The Sparkling Naturals line feature four yummy flavors; Pink Grapefruit, Lemon Lime, Apple Mango, and Orange Pineapple.  We chose Orange Pineapple and Apple Mango for our review and they were both very popular with my kids and my husband and I as well.

image image image

If you’re looking for an at home soda maker I definitely recommend that you check out Soda Stream!  If you are currently a Soda Stream user and haven’t tried Sparkling Naturals you must check them out!

Buy it!

You can purchase the Fountain Jet online starting at $79.99!

The Fountain Jet (or any of the Soda Stream makers) makes a perfect holiday gift for the soda lover on your list!  Also make sure you check out MIBR 2010 Holiday Gift Guide for great gift ideas for the whole family!

There are a few things I have a major weakness for; babies (I have baby fever all.the.time, but sadly I am done with having my own), shoes…especially boots (love them), and hand bags.  It’s the last weakness that used to get me into serious trouble!  And though I have left the days of crazy, expensive hand bags behind me I still like to look and dream and hope and pray and well, you get the picture.  Nowadays I like to keep my hand bag budget under control, but I still do love fabulous and that’s one of the reasons I love Reverse-A-Purse!

Reverse-A-Purse is a company that helps you make the most out of your budget and your purses!  Reverse-A-Purse creator and President Catherine Brehm thought of the concept for Reverse-A-Purse after purchasing a purse that she loved only  to find that it didn’t match anything in her wardrobe (something I’m sure we can all relate to).  Limited by her budget and closet space Catherine took to her grandmother’s sewing machine and with a few fabric scraps designed the prototype for Reverse-A-Purse and the rest is well, history!  Here’s what Catherine has to say about Reverse-A-Purse:

“Our purses are designed for today's busy, budget-minded, fashion-conscious woman. Our fabrics are fresh and are carefully combined to maximize the versatility of our purses. We design two lines of covers each year, so it's possible to completely change your look from season-to-season without ever switching purses.
We are pleased to offer the most versatile fashion accessory imaginable - Reverse-A-Purse®!”

imageimage

Reverse-A-Purse let’s you (the customer) design your purse from start to finish!  You choose a purse (from the impressive selection of styles), choose a color for the purse (black or brown), and then you choose a cover and that is where the real fun begins!  Each cover features two different and unique patterns and with 15 covers to choose from the options are many!

I received a Luxe (style of bag) purse in black with the NEW Flirt cover for my review.  As soon as I opened the package containing the purse I was impressed with the size of the Luxe bag, it is big, without being massive and roomy enough to hold everything in my  purse or “black pit” as my husband calls it.  I chose the Flirt cover because I thought that it offered 2 very different and distinct options that would match any number of outfits in my closet.  I love the quilted look of the ivory side of the cover (FYI:  The color of the Flirt cover on the website is not the same color as the Luxe Flirt cover I received…the color I received was Ivory and the color on the site appears to be silver, BUT I adore the Ivory color).  The pink patterned side of the Flirt cover is fun and though I have yet to sport it out on the town I know it will be perfect for evenings out with my hubby or friends!

Overall I am impressed with Reverse-A-Purse, but I did have a few issues and though minor I wanted to point them out.  I received my Flirt cover with a black mark on the Ivory side, not a huge deal, but straight out of the package with a black mark on Ivory is not what I expected.  Second one of the tabs (the elastic tabs that hold the cover in place) broke the first time I placed the cover on, though I did rig it so it wasn’t noticeable I was disappointed that it broke before I ever got the chance to use it.  The company did provide me with a replacement cover.

image

All of that said I have received so many compliments on the Luxe bag, and I do very thoroughly enjoy it (it’s the whole hand bag addiction thing I have).  I think any of the purses in the Reverse-A-Purse collection would make an excellent gift for any of the ladies on your holiday shopping list!

Buy it!
You can purchase a purse from the Reverse-A-Purse website starting as low as $33.95 for a purse and less than $25 for reversible cover!

How would you like to win one of this ultra stylish and mega versatile purses?  Well, one Misadventures in Baby Raising reader is going to win a Luxe  purse (in winner’s choice of color) with winners choice of cover!

Win it:  Mandatory Entry!

The holiday season is without a doubt the most wonderful time of the year (love that song), and it’s also one of the most stressful!  Around this time every year I can start to feel the tension in my neck and back brought on by the magical holiday season (if it were really magical Santa would get me a GC to my local salon *wink* *wink*).  And while there are many ways that we choose to de-stress ourselves it always seems like I can never find the time to get myself to the local salon for a massage, or take a long, hot bath by myself at night, I always end up forgetting about me and worrying about everyone else through the Christmas season.  While I can’t make all of the stress in your life go away with this one post (one can only dream) I can help you out by introducing you to something that may help lower your stress level this holiday season (and all year round).image

New U Mind Body Yoga & Pilates Workout utilizes the technology of Wii MotionPlus™ and the Wii Balance Board™ accessory to track program users’ movements through a yoga and Pilates program designed to meet their specific goals. Unlike many programs offered, NewU isn’t just a glorified workout video or minigame collection – it provides real-time feedback based on the performance of each move, offering encouragement and instruction at every step. What’s more, NewU uses video of professional trainers instead of cartoon avatars to ensure that users receive the best possible instruction in achieving strength & balance with over 115 yoga & Pilates exercises.

You can check out a few of the screen shots as well as a video introduction to New U Mind Body Yoga & Pilates Workout  below!

Things Remembered
One of the hardest tasks during the holiday season is trying to find THE perfect gift for everyone on your list.  As the ideas escape you and the clock is tick, tick, ticking closer to that dreaded I mean joyful day you find yourself reasoning why grandma would love to have a membership to her local gym (even though she hasn’t done a crunch since her late 30’s) or why your husband just has to have another World’s Greatest Husband mug (even though the 5 you’ve bought him in as many years seem to mysteriously end up being “broken” when it’s his turn to do the dishes).  Every year I find myself trying to rationalize those insane choices myself, but usually end up settling on yet another gift card for the hard to please on my Christmas list.

What if there was one place where you could go to find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list?  Good news…there is and it’s called Things Remembered!  Things Remembered offers personalized gift options that any member of the family would love to receive.  The Things Remembered mission statement is simple: customer satisfaction.  Pleasing their customers is what sets Things Remembered apart, they are always ready, willing, and able to “serve, guide, and help their customers find the perfect personalized gifts for all gift giving occasions”.  Things Remembered does this by:

*Providing gift solutions for all gift-giving occasions. Whether it's a sweet 16 or a 50th birthday, a first baby or a promotion to a new job, we will help you find that special gift.

*Offering exceptional customer service, not only to help customers find the right gift, but to help with the personalized message to make that gift even more special and memorable.

*Building a relationship with our customers. We want all of our customers to be customers for life, and that's why we offer a Satisfaction Guarantee. In addition, we offer a Rewards Club program where customers receive valuable savings every time they shop.

As I mentioned above Things Remembered has the perfect gift to fit every occasion and no occasion is more giftable than Christmas!  As I also mentioned above I tend to have a very difficult time finding the perfect gifts for everyone on my list, but with the help of Things Remembered the days of giving my husband a “World’s Greatest Husband” mug are over!  So let’s take a look at some Holiday Hard to Buy For’s in a little game I like to play…From No-no to So-So Fabulous!

First up we have the husband, the husband who has 5 of everything and 3 more as back ups.  I find myself stuck buying for this man every year and usually end up buying him the same ugly tie I’ve bought for the past 2 years…even though he doesn’t ever wear a tie!  A total No-no!   With Things Remembered I can get him something he’ll really appreciate and LOVE like this NFL Tankard.  Now he can watch his favorite team play while drinking a cool one out of his new tankard emblazoned with his team’s logo!  How’s that for So-So Fabulous?

image
Or maybe you can never figure out what the get your favorite Aunt Bee so you end up getting her a new sweater, an ugly sweater that even Aunt Bee would never be seen in.  A definite No-No!!!  Things Remembered has a fix for this one too!  Why not give Aunt Bee (and every lady on your list) the  2010 Make-a-Wish Bracelet!  Now that is completely and utterly So-So Fabulous!

2010 Make-A-Wish® Bracelet
I received the 2010 Make-a-Wish Bracelet from Things Remembered for my review.  I have to say that I am completely in love with this bracelet and get so many compliments on it every time I wear it!  The Make-A-Wish Bracelet is just one item in the Things Remembered Make-A-Wish collection and it is exquisite!  The bracelet features fine jewelry touches like the delicate, exquisite multi-strand chain on this bracelet. The star motif returns, in honor of Make-A-Wish, and also an engravable round charm bordered in CZ crystals so that you can speak from yours.  You can have the charm engraved with the recipients name, initials, a touching sentiment (I chose “From Now Until Forever” which hold special meaning for me) or just about anything else you can imagine.  Though the bracelet’s beauty alone if reason to give it as a gift this season, the best part if that for every purchase of the Make-A-Wish® gifts, Things Remembered will donate $2 of the purchase price, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $200,000, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.  There is nothing better than knowing you are giving someone an amazing gift that they will cherish for years to come and at the same time helping an awesome charity like Make-A-Wish!   (For more information on the Make-A-Wish foundation you can visit wish.org.

The older my children get the harder it is to find age appropriate holiday gifts for them.  Between the outrageously expensive requests I receive from my oldest daughter (yea right, like an iPad for my 11 year old is ever gonna happen) and the knowledge that I must step up my game and cough up a lot more money with 3 tweens to buy for this Christmas I don’t have a prayer.  Since I can’t really afford to go buy iPads for 3 kids the sensible mom in me takes over and I go on the hunt for awesome, unique, and most importantly “Tween Trio Approved” gifts for Christmas.

One of the very first companies I came across in my quest for tween/teen appropriate gifts was Road Rage Jewelry.  Now just hearing the name invokes images of crazy drivers and major traffic headaches, but this kind of Road Rage is a good kind and something you definitely want to know about…especially if you have tweens or teens.  Road Rage Jewelry was born out of creator and designer Jeanne Koesters’ early morning road rage experience, as Jeanne drove along she noticed different road signs and the colors and shapes and decided that Road Rage didn’t have to be a bad thing!

Here’s a little more about Road Rage Jewelry from their website:

“She (Jeanne) began by locating a manufacturer (ISO certified) and commenced production of actual street signs. She truly believed in pursuing the "green aspect" of production, and when studying her particular target market and their concerns, she was determined to "keep it real."  Road Rage Jewelry® is manufactured with recycled lightweight aluminum; the graphics are all ROHS (non-lead paint) compliant; and is proudly “made in the U.S.A.”

Next came the design idea of using a simple ball chain necklace with a street name attached ("Malfunction Junction" "University Drive" etc.)  The ball and chain gave it a rugged but simple look that played into the feel of an actual roadway.  Wanting people to be able to express their individuality, she made the signs versatile so that other funny signs in varying shape, sizes and colors, could be attached to the bottom of the street sign.  That's when Road Rage Jewelry® "took off."  What you see are actual street and road signs that can be found throughout the United States that have been scaled down to various sizes from ½” to 3.”
"Malfunction Junction" with a "Dead End" and "Do Not Enter" sign, could sum up anyone's day.
Road Rage Jewelry® starting with its initial series, will be adding hundreds of various street names and individual signs to appeal to people from all backgrounds, and from over the world. Come watch us grow!
Additionally, Road Rage Jewelry®, has designated its “Drive Safely” and “Baghdad” series to “Pay it Forward.”  A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these signs will be divided among charities identified through CharityNavigator.com and other worthy fundraisers.”

We received a necklace (from the aptly titled Street Series) as well as 3 different charms (LOL, stop sign, and SUP).  As soon as I opened the package and saw the necklace and charms I knew that Road Rage Jewelry was going to be a huge hit with the tween/teen crowd.  My kids are obsessed with jewelry and my oldest daughter couldn’t wait to show it off to all of her friends.  Knowing that I found a company that she likes takes some of the pressure to find “cool gifts mom…gah” (kid you not those are here words) off of this mommy.
I love that Road Rage Jewelry is made in the USA, that it is very affordable, so much fun for tweens and teens, and that they give back…it makes you feel great to buy from a company who does their part to help others!  So if you have a persnickety tween or teen or your holiday gift list this year make sure you check out Road Rage Jewelry!

imageI am always so fascinated by people from other countries; their stories, their culture, and their lives in general are so interesting and full of wonder.  It’s not often that I get to do a review (and giveaway…just wait that’s coming) where the story behind the product is just as fascinating as the product itself, but when I do it gives this job a whole new sense of adventure.

I had heard about NOVICA through different bloggers and had even read some of their reviews, but it wasn’t until I had the chance to do a review with them that I realized what they were all about.  NOVICA is a very  unique global platform where artists and artisans from around the world can express and share their creativity and art with the world.  NOVICA also provides consumers with unique, hard to find, amazing pieces and even better values thanks to its internet infrastructure.  Here’s a little more about NOVICA from their website:

“At the deepest essence of our philosophy, we want to create a bridge between you and the many talented artisans across the globe.

We want you to know about who you're buying from. We want you to feel that attachment to the product and to the hands that created it.

In the spirit of the Internet, let us bring you together.
NOVICA. The World is Your Market.”

I love the idea of being able to support artists from all over the globe in a way that before was only possible by visiting the artist’s country.  NOVICA artists and artisans are able to list their items without fees and are in full control of every aspect of the items they have listed, they can raise or lower their prices or even remove them from the site completely, the power is left completely up to the artists.

Wondering where NOVICA’s very unique name comes from?

From the NOVICA website":
“The NOVICA global team comes from different cultures, countries and language sets. We knew we needed a name with no language barriers. A name with no cultural barriers. A new name that could be incorporated into the local language of all of our international offices. We couldn't have a name like Globeshop, which can't be pronounced in Spanish and many other languages. We couldn't have any "sh" sounds. We couldn't have "l"s, or "r"s, or "z"s. We needed a name that each of our artists could claim as their own, just as each of our clients would know it was theirs. We also needed a name that meant "new" - because we were creating a new system for the world. So, looking at the Latin root of "novus" as a base, the name NOVICA was born.”

Recently I was given the opportunity to do a review for NOVICA  and I couldn’t have been more thrilled.  As I browsed the pages and artists and pieces that make up the NOVICA website I found myself in awe of the brilliant artists and artisans and their spectacular items.  What I could have swore was only a few minutes of looking turned out to be over an hour, but with so many things to look at and stories to read NOVICA is too interesting not to take your time.  I finally settled on two different items for my review from two very different parts of the world.

The first item I chose to review was a gorgeous pair of earrings from Thailand.  The earrings (called Energy) are sterling silver drop earrings are hand crafted in Thailand by an amazing artist named Jantana or Na for short.  The tradition of making silver jewelry is one that Jantana’s parents (retired jewelers)  passed on to her and her siblings.  Jantana and her husband now employee 12 silversmiths who work side by side with them to create all of the phenomenal pieces carried on NOVICA’s website!  I can’t say enough good things about the earrings, they are exquisite and I have received so many compliments on them followed very quickly with a lot of, “where did you get them?”.  Jantana has an amazing collection of jewelry pieces on the NOVICA website so make sure you check her out…her jewelry would make a great holiday gift for any lucky lady on your gift list!

image

The second item I received from NOVICA were  a set of 4 hand-blown Cobalt Spiral shot glasses from Mexico.  My husband Jamie always complains (on that rare occasion that we drink, you know…New Year’s Eve) that he doesn’t have any shot glasses…well problem solved.  Though these shot glasses are not your average run of the mill shot glasses, not by a long shot!  The Cobalt Spiral  shot glasses that I received are hand-blown using a  technique that artists Javier and Efrén have perfected.  “Their crystalline depths are encircled with fluid spirals, and crowned by cobalt rims. Perfect for parties, they complement other works by the artisans.”  Javier and Efrén and their amazing peices have been featured in a array of magazines including the Sunset magazine to the Miami Herald.  “Since the 1990s, Javier Gutiérrez and Efrén Canteras have worked together to preserve Mexico's blown glass artistry. "This type of work is a beautiful craft. I love blown glass because of the pure imagination poured into every piece created," confides Efrén. “  The shot glasses are absolutely amazing, from their smooth, cold exterior to the tiny bubbles ( a result of hand-blowing) that make them one of a kind!  These shot glasses (or any of Javier and Efrén’s items) are the perfect gift idea for any man (or woman) on your holiday gift list!

imageLast year my children were addicted to Zhu Zhu Pets, and while they still adore the furry little creatures they have also began to explore the vast world of toys, thanks in part to Nickelodeon and all the toy commercials.  Normally Lil Diva prefers baby dolls and monster trucks to stuffed animals, but that all changed as soon as she was introduced to PetCakes!

If you’ve never heard of PetCakes let me be the first to fill you in on what you are missing!  Petcakes are adorably delicious pets with a major sweet tooth!  Here’s some more about PetCakes from their website:

Well Made™ Toy Manufacturing Corporation, introduces PetCakes™, a new collectible plush pet line that will be a sweet treat for children ages 3 & up. Each PetCakes animal features a "frosting" hat, comes nestled in its own cupcake wrapper and has its own whimsical backstory. At first look, children will see a delicious cupcake but will then be surprised by the pet they find snuggled inside! Combining sweet faces and cuddly plush with a clever cupcake theme, PetCakes are collectible and provide hours of open-ended imaginative play. PetCakes make perfect gifts for a special friend and for pet lovers. They are ideal for birthday party favors, stocking stuffers and as rewards for good grades. Most of all, PetCakes deliver the kind of fun kids eat up! IMG_0722Lil Diva LOVES her PetCake Twinkle Sprinkles!

We received 4 of the cute and cuddly PetCakes for our review; Coco Coconut (the poodle), Blueberry Buddy (the Shar Pei ), Twinkle Sprinkles (the Beagle and Lil Diva’s favorite PetCake), and Randy Candy (the loveable and oh-so-cute mutt).  As soon as Lil Diva laid eyes on the PetCakes it was over, she was head over heels for the puppies in an instant.  I do have to say that they are very cute, and I love the idea of presenting them in “cupcake wrappers” with icing and sprinkles and a cherry…very cute and very original!  I generally don’t let my children have stuffed animals (because stuffed toys are like potato chips—they can’t stop at just one), but I made an exception for the PetCakes.  Lil Diva really does love her PetCakes, Twinkle Sprinkle goes with Diva wherever she goes…they are inseparable and it is adorable!  I can’t tell you how many moms have seen Lil Diva carrying around her little puppy at the store and stopped and asked where we got it from and how cute it was…if that’s not good feedback I don't know what is!  image

Look for a whole new line of PetCakes debuting in 2011, the line will feature new puppies, kittens, bears, rabbits, raccoons !  You can check out PetCakes and SO many more great holiday gift ideas in MIBR 2010 Holiday Gift Guide!

Watching movies on the weekends is something that my husband and I enjoy doing, it’s kind of like a mini-date night and a chance for us to relax and unwind after a long and chaotic week.  We stopped going to the video store a while back (they are still out there I suppose) and started renting OnDemand movies every week…but once our cable bill came and we realized that we watch a lot of movies  and that it was NOT at all cheap we put an end to that.  Our weekends were reduced to whatever was on TV (and even with 1000 channels there is NEVER anything on) until we got our Roku player.

Haven’t heard of Roku?  Well let me properly introduce you!  “Roku is a little box that allows you to instantly stream tons of entertainment on your TV. Watch movies and TV shows from Netflix, Hulu Plus or Amazon VOD, listen to music on Pandora, catch the latest ballgame, and more — it's all available whenever you want it. (from the Roku website)”  It’s pretty much date night in a small, very easy to use box!  Roku delivers instant entertainment in just a few quick and easy steps.

Why Roku?  (from the website)

It's really easy.
Be up and running in 5 minutes. Roku is so tiny you can fit it anywhere.

image

No extra monthly bills.
Use your existing subscriptions (like Netflix or Major League Baseball), or enjoy free and on-demand content (like Pandora, Flickr, and Amazon VOD).

It's always getting better.
Roku is constantly expanding its library of streaming entertainment, so there will always be something new to watch.

image

There’s also the fact that Roku connects (in no time) to your high-speed internet…wirelessly!  And if all of that isn’t enough to sway you, maybe the price tag for an XD|S (which is the model I reviewed and you will have a chance to win) at only $99 with a 30- day Money Back Guarantee will have you at Hello…it will pay for itself in no time!  The Roku player also comes with a 1 Year Warranty and for a limited time if you buy a Roku you can get a FREE month of Hulu Plus!

I love that with the Roku you can get get access to a ton of channels instantly!  Maybe you’re strictly a movies and TV kinda gal (or guy) Roku has you covered with access to Hulu Plus, Amazon VOD, Netflix and more.  Perhaps your more of a sports buff, well Roku has UFC, MLB.TV, MCC, AFL and more to help you get your sports fix.  Or maybe you’re the serious type, Roku has so many news stations and reporters like Katie Couric, Suze Orman, and Anderson Cooper, need I say more…seriously Anderson Cooper is reason enough to buy a Roku!

As you have probably guessed by now I was sent a Roku XD|S for my review.  Since we have a million channels and OnDemand my husband was a little confused as to why I wanted to use the Roku player, but after a little coaxing I got him on board.  Setting up the Roku player literally takes seconds…and within no time we were ready to watch.  The Roku is great for us because we only have a cable box for one of the 4 TV’s in our house (long story) so now the kids can watch movies, music, and just about anything they want in their own room on their own terms!

I think the Roku player would make an excellent gift for anyone who loves to watch TV and movies but doesn’t have a wide selection with their current cable plan.  My mother has basic cable so the Roku is perfect for her.  It also makes a great addition to your guest room so that holiday guests can feel right at home!  You can check out Roku and many other great gift ideas in MIBR 2010 Holiday Gift Guide!

Buy it!

You can purchase the Roku player online at shop.roku.com!
